Is Navy Ma Overmanned Right Now

Is navy MA overmanned right now?

it is CREO 2 and 3 across the board.

you may get it offered to you, but advancement once in will be difficult.

BTW being an MA will HURT your chances at civilian law enforcement. most Precincts DO NOT want you to have any prior training in that field as military and civilian training/objectives are very different and often clash. they really do not want to have to retrain you to the civilian way of doing things.

Are NAVY MA's (Master-at-arms) incredibly overmanned right now?

Nevermind the CREO group they fall under, it always changes over time. I've been an MA since 1996 and every couple years it shifts....easy to advance to harder to advance....then it resets again. But people still advance. Also, every command is short of what they should have for MAs. Most of them are getting yanked away for IA deployments (normally 1 year unaccompanied by family). But that's the military in general right now...as long as we keep the war going on and on we will continue to have our manning and budget shortfalls at the commands. But literally overmanned? No way! We keep getting pinched for manpower so we have to often take it out of hide to meet installation security requirements.

I wanna be a Master at Arms with navy, is it overmanned, and is it worth the long wait if i get in?

From what I hear, it is overmanned. With 1 October being the start of the new fiscal year, your chances of getting a MA contract is really high if you jump on it now. You probably wont ship out until late spring 2011 though. The Air Force is offering enlistment bonuses for Security Forces (MP) right now if you enlist for 6 years with them. I believe it's a $2000 signing bonus.

Supposedly, the Air Force Security Forces is undermanned. I went to an AF recruiter in June and they said I would have no problems getting SF if I enlisted with them. I wasted 3 months with them and got DEP discharged when I said no to a general aptitude contract they offered. I said I'd rather wait for a guaranteed SF contract, and they said either you sign this general aptitude contract or we'll kick you out. So now I'm enlisting in the Navy as an MA.

Also, I had a cousin that just enlisted in the Army last week doing military police and she ships out late February. Don't know about Marines or Coast Guard wait times though. Good luck.

What is the most overmanned rate in the US Navy?

There are no overmanned rates in the US Navy. By law the USN is strictly limited by Congress as to the number of active personnel it can have in service at one time. As a result the Navy is very rigid about refusing to promote anyone to any of the mid- and higher rates if the particular rate and rating combination has no openings.Basically it works like this:For all enlisted rates above E3 the navy establishes firm limits based on the ratings. For example, they might have 12,000 E-4 billets for Boatswain’s Mates and 8,500 E-5 billets. For Missile Technicians the number of billets would be much lower, say 1,800 E-4s and 1,400 E-5s. So for the various ratings the number of billets at each rate will be different depending on the staffing needs for those specific jobs.So say in the above example (which used numbers I just pulled outta my butt) you happen to be an E-3 and your rating is Boatswain’s Mate. In order to be promoted to E-4 you not only need to meet the performance and training requirements, but there has to be an empty E-4 billet. If there are already 12,000 E-4s in that rating, you don’t get promoted. Period. That said, the Navy will give those who qualified but for whom no billet was open a boost to their selection score the next time around. As for the three lowest rates, E-1, E-2, and E-3, they have no fixed limits except the overall enlisted limit for the enlisted rates as a whole. Basically the Navy just adds up all the billets for all the rates above E-3, subtracts that from the number of total enlisted billets they currently permit, and that’s the total number of E-1 through E-3 rates they can have. But they don’t care much how those balance out against each other, as an E-1 is not much different from an E-3 in the same rating, since both will be under the supervision of someone of a higher rate pretty much all the time. So promotions up to E-3 are pretty much automatic; if you have enough time in rate and you have not done anything to get yourself seriously disciplined, then you get promoted. (That simplifies things a bit, but it’s good enough to get the general gist of how it works.)So from all of this you can easily see how the Navy never gets overmanned in any rate. Ever.

Is our military overmanned?

I would like to join the US military very much. But I was wondering if it was overmanned. I would hate to join the Army or Marines and not be able to be in the infantry. I would also hate to join the AF and not be able to be a pilot.

Would it be hard to get into navy master at arms right now?

By looking at the advancement percentage of Master at Arms in the Navy, I would have to say that rate is extremely over manned. 17% of the E3's that passed the test made E4 this past cycle which is not bad but only 2% made E5 and E6. If you do average on the ASVAB, you may over qualify yourself for the rate because it only requires the bare minimum to get it. The Navy has perform to serve and if you do not make E5 after 8 years of service or E6 after 14 year of service, then you are forced out. I personally think you would be better off going through the Army or National Guard and being a MP, nearly exactly the same job except you work on different bases. Good luck to you and I hope you make the right decision.

Navy Rates Undermanned/Overmanned 2016. MEPS and job choices?

So i am currently going through the enlistment process for the Navy. I am very unsure about the jobs i will be offered and i am aware now that there is nothing the recruiters can do about job security unless its for SW or NUC. So heres where i am at.I scored a 61 on the ASVAB and qualified for everything but Aviation specialist,Air Crew, EOD, NUC,IS and a few other hard mathematics and electrical jobs i had no interest in. My top choice is anything within Naval Construction. Within that SW and EO are my top choices. CM,UT,BU would be fine for me. I really have not looked in to any jobs that would fit me other that MA, GM, and Boatswain mate. From what i can tell anything within Naval Construction and MA and GM are overmanned as well.

I have about 45 college credits which would transfer over to higher pay scale. And i am in good physical shape.
The recruiters have said that i have to choose a job even if its IT at MEPS. I know thats false. I absolutely do not and will not be stuck in a rate like IT for the next five years. Not that its bad it just does not fit my personality nor applicable skills.

So my question is given my college credits and score on the ASVAB, will i have a better chance at getting a job that i will enjoy?

Navy master at arms questions?

All contracts are 8 years, you normally have 4 years Active, 4 years Inactive Reserves. If it was overmanned then it would not be available for you. In some areas it can be hard to advance to E4, E5 or E6 but that is now, by the time you are up for it, it might not be.

There is NO guarantee you will get a patrol car at all, it will depend on your area, some do but many do not. Most base police is actually done by civilian personnel.

What are the chances of me becoming a Navy Master at arms?

low. MA is overmanned and there are not as many openings for females.

also it has NOTHING to do with being a police Officer so would be of zero help for a civilian LEO position anyway.

MA is force protection: guarding gates, convoys, etc for the most part. if assigned to sea duty( rare) that means guarding the weapons stores and keeping track of the monthly pee in a cup testst.
