Are you supportive of going bra-less or are you against it?

I think I’ve stopped wearing bras for good.They are uncomfortable.They restrict my breathing. (For god’s sake what century are we in that women should be expected to wear garments that restrict their breathing?)They do nothing for me except hide my nipples slightly less uncomfortably than stick-on nipple covers do.Instead I wear dark coloured, highly patterned, loose tops to make my nipples less obvious. Why? Because I live in a culture that has sexualised women’s nipples and also decided that any sexualised part of the body has to be covered. I don’t want to look sexy, especially as I’m an older woman. Attitudes to older women are changing as many women actors are aging beautifully and sexily but I don’t think we’re quite there yet.I realise that not all women find bras so constricting. I have small breasts and a long torso, so to get a bra that doesn’t ride up and crush my little soft bits, I need a pretty tight chest band. Mind you, my daughter-in-law is a much bigger size than I am, and she finds that bras mostly kill her shoulders unless she has a tight chest band. She’s braver than me and doesn’t give a hoot if someone notices that gasp! she has nipples.What makes me and others like me hesitate to discard our restrictive clothing is anxiety about people who “notice” our clothing choices and cause us to feel uncomfortable about them. It’s worth thinking on that next time you “notice” a woman not wearing a bra.I’ve worn bras less and less as time goes on and I’ve found ways to feel adequately covered without them. I think I’m done with them now.
