Peanut butter contains healthy unsaturated fats and unhealthy saturated fats, but the mere presence of bad fat does not suddenly kick it into the unhealthy camp, according to Harvard Health Publications. Is peanut butter good for you?

I mean, I know it has a lot of fats, but's it's the good fats - polyunsaturated and monounsaturated. It also has a lot of dietary fiber.

Do you think 1-2 tbsp. a day is fine?

I am a vegetarian so I am not getting many fats unless I have eggs/nuts.

I just wanted to clarify because once a day I'll like get the spoon and have some peanut butter (smart balance w/ omega) and my sister will just give me this look like "are you serious?"

Is Peanut butter and Jelly healthy?

I have just found it in myself to eat peanut butter again. It has been such a long time.

I myself am a big fan of Natural Peanut Butter! It has an oil floating on top and you have to mix it up before you eat it and then you store it in the refridgerator otherwise it will seperate again. I would be concerned with your choice to eat it all of the time. You are missing so many necessary neutrients. In addition to all of this, you are taking in a lot of fat and calories. You man need to add a multivitimin if you continue to have your "Peanut Butter Jelly Time".

Peanut butter is a protein; however, it is an incomplete protein. This means that it is missing some of the necessary amino acids. Now, If you are combining it with a whole grain bread, stay away from the white bread, you are making a complete protein. Adding jelly is a problem if you are looking at the health aspect. It has an awful lot of sugar in it! I hope that you are using a real fruit spread for your jelly. Preserves tend to be better than jelly as it actually has more of the whole fruit left in it.

Next, you are missing vegitables. You have to have them no matter how much you hate them. If you are trying to be healthy try and enjoy some celery with that peanut butter and chase it down with an apple. Since you are so big into Peanut Butter I would still recommend a multivitimin. Sounds like you may need it.

Enjoy your peanut butter... I am still trying to stomach it again after all these years. Take a look at the article below on incomplete proteins.

Peanut butter>?>>>>>>>>?

I'm suprised no one's answered this way yet - jiff, skippy, etc are really not the best option for peanut butter. they add sugar and most use partially hydrogenated oil (read: trans fat)
peanut butter, in natural form, is really quite good for you in small servings (2T on a sandwich, one on a banana). Teddy brand PB is my favorite, it's really good. it has only the healthy fats (mono/poly unsaturated that regular peanuts have) and no sugar. it's great for you, actually.
people get turned off by the natural PBs because the oil separates and rises to the top - this is what the added sugar in other peanut butter stops, but it's really just a matter of stirring the jar when you open it and problem's solved.
so yeah, peanut butter's good for you - all-natural is best!

Is peanut butter unhealthy?

I am a kooky vegetarian, and gave up all meat and animal products in my diet in 1985.Nuts to you!And I mean this in the best way possible. I generally have 3 or 4 brands of peanut butter on the go simultaneously and go for organic brands where possible. My favourite brand at the moment is Meridian Foods Organic Smooth Peanut Butter - ingredients organic roasted peanuts whole skin on (100%). You can't get better than that! They also make wicked organic almond, cashew and hazelnut butters. And just checking my pantry I have a crunchy and a smooth peanut butter, and almond butter and a cashew butter. I also have an unopened Kelkin Crunchy Peanut Butter  (Kelkin, makes the healthy choice, the easy choice!) - 20% extra free - which has a small percentage of palm oil (1.3%) and sea salt to taste. The palm oil acts as an emulsifier, and it's actually not too bad. Another brand I am trying out is Essential Organic Peanut Butter Smooth. This is a skinned butter, so it is quite violently yellow, but still very tasty. My weekly nut intake will vary between 250 grams to over 1 kilogram, depending on how nutty I am feeling.Nuts to me!
