What genre is my chemical romance?
Seriously, what sub-genre of rock is MCR considered? They are my favorite band by far and I can't find any other band that I think sounds similar. I want some more music so I need to know what sort of stuff to search and listen to. Lots of people are like, "panic! at the disco, taking back sunday..." etc... but they sound nothing like MCR. I'm not trying to find straight up emo (the band itself even detests being considered emo). What I like about mcr are the really catchy melodies and rhythm of the songs as well as the aggressive feel of them, and of course the singing style.

So, I'm gonna do this by album. Most places consider I Brought You My Bullets (first album) to be a post-hardcore album, which I agree with. I think that Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge was just a straight-up rock album. The Black Parade is considered rock, and is called a "rock opera". Danger Days is more of an alternative rock, pop/rock album.

I’d say they don’t have one specific genre.They are post-hardcore, Pop punk, Emo and have elements of Gothic Rock; Every album is different too.Honestly I could sit here and type up an answer but I’d change my mind the next week so I’d just say Emo; that’s what everyone else calls them but they did get more pop punk at Danger Days.I like that this band is so unique especially lyrically and visually.

I don't know much about anime but I do like the music I hear in anime video games and shows. Would these songs be considered anime, j-pop, j-rock, k-pop or some other genre?
