Baby Brother has strep throat or something?
Okay so a week or so ago, my brother was sick and went to the doc. The doc gave my 7 year old brother antibiotics for an ear infection. Now two or three days ago he also was sick and his throat red and everything. He has a cough and also has fevers that would come and go. We gave him medication for fever and cough. Anyways, we took him to the ER yesterday and over there they diagnosed him with strep throat. They gave him an injection of antibiotics and told us to stop giving him the antibiotics his doctor wrote for ear infection. They didn't give us any prescriptions or anything else. Anyways, today he still has a fever that comes and goes. He also has coughing and doesn't look so good. He is autistic so we can't really ask him what's wrong. he seems to be eating kinda fine though but he looks tired and everything. What should we do? Any reason to be concerned? Why isn't the injection working?
What could be wrong with my brother's throat?
I have been in medical for years so im just going to throw some ideas and opinions at you ok. I am not trying to scare you or anything but have they drawn blood work to check for any infections or any autoimmune issuse? So we can rule out anything major since obviously its no GERD if prevacid and nexius is not helping and it doesnt seem like a GI issue if the scope is clean. Also i would suggest maybe an Xray and maybe a CT scan of his neck region to see if there is any inflammation or anything that looks out of the ordinary surrounding his vocal cords, lyranx, trachia and esaphygus. They keep looking inside lets see if something is going on surrouning it. If its simply inflammed steriods can possibly fix it. And for an extra precaution since he is having pain lower i would not hurt to have an Endoscopy and a Colonoscopy just to rule out any GI issues (which i dont see being prevalent with no help with nexium). A good indicator at seeing if he has inflammation in his body is bone through a blood test known as a Sedamentation Rate. If its high that means he has inflammation somewhere. Also if they do that blood test they can run a CBC (complete blood count) where they can see if he has any GI bleeding, if he has an infection and little things like that. My brother snorts meth, he says his throat is sore. What causes it?
Obviously, the meth.Meth can be very caustic.And even if you snort it instead of smoke/ingest it, it still has to go through the same route.The throat.Still it’s best to get a doctor to see him.It’s embarrassing to tell your doctor about illega drug use, but doctors are not legally required to report illegal drug use and will treat / monitor him to make sure it isn’t anything really serious.Except maybe in the case of a minor but I’m not too sure on that to be honest.
My brother has bad breath but there's nothing wrong?
Hi I really need help. My younger brother is too embarrassed to tell my mother about this. My brother complains about having a bad taste or bad breath. He goes to the dentist every 6 months, brushes his teeth after every meal, scrapes his tongue, uses mouthwash, yet still feels like he has bad breath. Even while brushing his teeth he can smell it coming from his throat. No one complains about it usually so im thinking its just all in his head. He doesnt have any gingivitis or anything so im very confused. He is extremely insecure over this. Please help!
My brother's hamster has a lump on her throat/chest...is this normal?
My brother's hamster Fudge has been with UA for a year and a half. Recently she developed a large lump on her throat/chest area. It doesn't seem to hurt her, but he's concerned it may be cancerous or some other disease (hamster leukemia?). Is it normal for 1.5-year-old hamsters to get a lump? And if you can, please add what it is...He loves Fudge dearly and I'd hate for her to die.
My brother has strep throat, could I have possibly gotten it?
I know strep throat is passed on by kissing, drinking from same cup, things like that. However I didn't drink from his cup, o made sure of it...but now I woke up , and my throat hurts, my ears hurt, my nose is congested..could I have gotten strep throat just by being around him?
Is it possible to get a sore throat and mouth after snorting meth? Will it heal? It was over a 36 hours, so it's bad scary!
Think for a minute what your asking. I believe you can most likely answer this yourself man. I do not mean any offense or anything, but it's the nature of the drug/drugs that you possibly can't see the forest for the trees. Again, my brother, I mean no offense and you may not even use. What do I know about that? Anyway let's look at probable culprit #1:Methamphetamine, smoked OR snorted, is generally but not always a “group" activity. Most likely, you mentioned snorting in particular, your using the same straw that some junkie or junkies has/have been using to insufflate this EXTREMELY volatile powder into your/their respective noses for God knows how long with zero thought as to the cleanliness of said straw/pen/ etc. Same goes for pipes if you/he / she/ they are smoking.#2:OK maybe you have your own straw and you use by yourself. When have you last replaced the straw?I get it. I save mine too b/c there's valuable residue in there!#3:Meth, as you should know, is cooked/shaken by , well let's just say they are not the cream of America's scientific crop. When the product is done it generally changes 10 hands before you get it and Lord knows what is been exposed to. The same goes with crack too. When you consider what kind of substances and the types of people those substances attract, be happy you only have a sore throat. Hope that helps you. Good Luck Sir!

You can easily make your throat pain disappear using zinc 50mg tablets. When using zinc please follow my instructions— the first day you can take two tablets with food or a glass of milk. The second day you take one tablet, and take one on the third day and one on the fourth day as well. You may take a final zinc tablet on day five, but stop taking it after that as I understand too much zinc will make you ill as well. Your sore throat may take four or even five days to go away, but you will feel much better by then. Remember to keep drinking lots of liquids & Also you need to have a glass of milk or food when you take the zinc, as it is usually uncoated and will upset your stomachI had strep throat years ago, fortunately by the time I saw the doctor, the zinc had already kicked in, the doctor told me my throat was neon red, but it felt fine to me —He even probed my throat with a long Q-tip and it didn’t hurt at all
Help!! My throat hurts from coughing too much?!?!?
Okay so I have REALLY bad allergies and I'm coughing A LOT!! And I cough so much that it hurts when I swallow. Do you guys have any ideas on how i can help my throat? Thanks guys I would much appreciate if it gets better by Thursday because that's when I leave for my brothers tournament, and then on Saturday it is my bat mitzvah service. Thanks!
Can strep throat be deadly?
In theory, yes. If you are old or an infant it could possible turn into pneumonia. If left untreated, it can trigger rheumatic fever or scarlet fever. Sometimes your body makes antibodies to fight it that also attack your heart. In practice, it is very rare for strep throat to kill someone between the ages of 6 and 60, even if they are left untreated. Most of the time the disease goes away on it's own in a couple weeks even without antibiotics. They mostly give you antibiotics to shorten the period when you are contagious, and to get rid of it before your body makes antibodies against it. (Because as I said, the antibodies you make against it occasionally attack your heart.)
