A picture might be helpful, since you don't say what color the slimy stuff was. Was there a lot of it? Has it come back since you wiped it off? At some point you are going to have to take him to a vet, you know.

I have that same problem...funny well we had 2 take this eye test at skool and i failed so i had to go 2 the eye doctor they said that my eyes were uneven so now im wearing glasses.--just 4 reading and computers-- U prolly need them 2, bcuz u need 2 balance out ur eyes, but my doctor said that in about a yr i may not need them. ur nearsighted in ur right eye. mine were tha exact same way, the same eye problem 2.--♥~

It’s probably an optical illusion. If you are talking about the curvature of the front of the eyeball, that curvature is to focus light on the retina, vaguely similar to the way a magnifying glass is curved to make an object appear larger. Well I'm really dissappointed with how Hasafer answered this question because this is clearly a serious problem with the retinal wall where the iritical countrflabulating shaft meets the corneatic nerve in the visual transponder valve reflex scapulatizer and Hasafer of all people should have caught that. Now specifically what's happening is there are two type of beebleflancers inside the eye, Micronincompoop rods and ice cream cones. The microni- whatever I just said are responsible for viewing only ho-hos and twinkies. That is what that part of the human body was designed to do and before Hostess came out with these two products, scientists really had no idea why they were there and were very confused. But that's all changed now so it's okay. NOW! the Ice cream cones (or 'Iceptulus coniconicus' as we in the eyeball business call them to make other people feel stupid) are responsible for viewing everything else and these little things are what's not working and this is VERY serious you see? (No I guess you don't ) But that can be fixed if you get those eyeballs to a QUALIFIED opthalmologist immediately! (Not Hasafer!) I would package them very carefully in an egg carton with some crumpled up newspapers and send them overnight Fed-Ex because you want them to get there safely. I sent my eyes to a doctor once and they were all scratched up when I got them back. Plus somebody took a bite out of one of them. fortunately it was in the back so you can't really see it but I know that bite is there and it just really breaks my heart. BUT that's life. Anyway don't procrastinate because unless you work at Hostess Bakeries you're not going to have much fun with your eyes until you do. Okay my work is done here. Hasafer, I'm really angry with you. In fact when you come home tonight just sleep on the couch I don't even want to see you!

I am not a vet, but I have experience with cats and read a lot. First of all, it is extremely important that you find out if he has any food allergy or intollerance. If you are feeding her with dry food, stop it asap and never buy dry food any more. You have to know that dry food is bad for all cats, as they are obligated carnivores but dry food is made with vegetal protein they cannot correctly process. Plus, dry food have a high % of carbs, while their natural food (animals) haven't any or extremely low. Plus, they come from the dessert and they take most of the water they need from their preys. This is why cats are not great water drinkers. Dry food have not water and it dehydrates them.Read about that and you will see. Change his diet for at least 3 months. The ideal is a home made food (not a human diet but a cat diet that is basically a combination of meat and fat, it is easy to do but you have to do little research about how to freeze it, the correct % of each meat, etc. Never give him carbs or so). If you can't invest the time in preparing his food, you can use canned food. Choose it without grains, this is very important as grains are very reactive in cats (and MOST dry foods have grains). Canned food is not the ideal meal, but at least is made from animal leftovers, therefore is not as bad as dry food.If this cat were mine, I would first of all give a try to home made food for 3 months and I will do my best so the cat don't eat anything else appart from that. It possible, but the one picture you took is not complete and you didn’t show us the other eye for comparison. I believe from this picture that the linear material is a string of mucus. If it moves when the cat blinks, then it is nearly 90% likely that is what it is. It might be (hard to tell from this picture) that the third eyelid is also up over the cornea a bit. The third eyelid is a white flap of tissue that protrudes from the inner corner of the eye near the nose, and can cover the eye completely. If it is protruded some, then there is either something wrong with the eye (pain, infection, a foreign body) or the cat is sick. It protrudes in many cases when cats just don’t feel well. So, if the strand doesn’t move with the cornea when the cat blinks or the third eye lid is up, the cat needs to see the veterinarian.

You have to go to the doctor. It's either one of two things and both aren't that bad but must be taken care of differently. PINK EYE - which usually is accompanied by mucus, sensitivity to light(Medication is given and eye washes may be necessary to rinse mucus easier)(AKA hold hot cloth to eye to rinse mucus out easier, it can be helpful but isn't a permanent solution)Pink eye is very very contagious and you shouldn't go to work or school if you have it. EYE INFECTION - Could have resulted from you wearing your contact lenses too much without taking them out at night, or the light from the computer screen could've made your eye ultra sensitive, try decreasing monitor brightness or wearing shades while you're online. Basically you'll have to stop wearing contacts and wear your glasses for a while and you will need to take prescription medication given to you by a doctor. You may want to grab a pair of dark shades to decrease the pain caused from sensitivity to light. For right now grab some sunglasses, give yourself a hot cloth eye bath by gently pressing hot cloth against eye.(It will drain mucus easier trust me )Keep a bowl of hot water in front of you and keep dipping it in so the cloth stays soaked. Go to the doctor if it continues more than 3 days or it could develop into something much much worse. Good luck and don't be shy of the doctor you need them in this case. And in general just try to relax(Smoking marijuana can relieve pain in this situation and act as a better pain medication than prescription vicatin for the eye) Keep everything clean as well, like pillow case, door handles etc, clean everything and keep it that way and try not to touch your eye it will either irritate it or spread the infection if it's pink eye. My eyes hurt when reading, is something wrong?
although it may seem you are reading fine your eyes may be straining a little to read clearly just get some reading glasses from a drug store and the eye strain will go away, a lot of people have the same problem and it can be remedied with the right reading glasses that you dont even need a prescription for. though the change may be too slight for you to have noticed it may be the problem.
