How common is it for bars to water down their liquor?

Phil DiNuzzo hits the nail on the head here. The far more prevalent problem is bars that replace expensive liquor with cheap liquor. Nobody can ever tell. Liquor inspectors regularly conduct audits and inspections to determine if bars are doing this.It isn’t hard to prove, as the bar’s point of sale system will indicate how many premium (call) drinks were charged to customers versus standard (rail) drinks. The inspector then compares that ratio against the bar’s purchase records, which it must make available to inspectors. If the bar is selling 65% of its vodka drinks as premium drinks, but is buying 80% of its vodka from standard brands, then it has some explaining to do.Some bars get around this by purchasing cheap vodka at a liquor store, rather than through their official accounts. This is also something that inspectors check. A world of hurt is coming to any bar that has retail price stickers on trashed booze bottles, or brands in its trash that do not appear on its purchase records.Interestingly, most bars get busted after disgruntled servers or bartenders inform on them to the liquor board. It always pays to be fair to your employees.By the way, this sort of egregious greed really pisses me off. The bar is already getting an 80% profit margin on a mixed drink. Is it really worth it to try to get that margin up to 90%? Apparently so.

How do I effectively accumulate savings?

I may not be a specialist on personal finance, but I wish to share a few tips I used in improving my savings in recent times.Decide to Save : The first and most important step is to decide to save and and have the end in mind as to how it could affect your life if you do, and the effect if you don't. I would say saving is 2/3rd Mental and 1/3rd physical.Set goals: To succeed, I believe two sets of goals are required. The short and long term goal. Use one year goal as a long term( calculate how much you could save in a year if you follow your saving adventure for one year and what that could do for your emotionally, relationally and otherwise.) Short term goal should be daily and weekly. The struggle is the daily and weekly goals.Write down your expenses and budget for a month (30 days): IIf you can survive this step without giving up a single day, odds are very high you will succeed for a year. It is the most difficult step, you don't give out a single money out without a receipt or a form of documentation and you must balance your account before going to bed.Write out what is your ideal daily expenditure and target to reduce it to the liveable possible amount: Reward yourself with more little assets (anything that appreciates like books, shares etc)Learn how to differentiate between value and price of everything: This is one of the skills I learn. There is always another lower price apart from what a vendor post, find that out. Look for coupons and discounts , you will amazed how much you have saved.Reduce your outdoor activities to only intentional ones like work, business networking etc. Don't eat out, learn how to cook and cook. If you have a partner develop bonding skills like watching movie, reading books, cooking together and you dull be surprised how far you would have gone in one year. Also, spend time more in Quora, you sure will become smarter and more knowledgibleDon't be cheap. Only stuffs that can lastIncrease your source of income with what you have saved. Learn about and invest in stuffs like bonds, shares, business, pay for courses etcGood Luck
