Is Stereotyping Groups Of People Always Unacceptable In Your Opinion

Are most gay guys always overly camp and feminine or is it just Sterotypical?

You've only noticed fem gay guys because it's hard NOT to notice. They're obviously gay. A lot of gay guys don't act fem. But you never notice them because you can't tell they're gay in the first place.

Most gay men seem to prefer a partner who is masculine. You're in the same boat as most everyone else.

Even gay guys who act straight 90% of the time often have a fem side :-) So it doesn't matter too much.

Why are stereotypes considered politically incorrect when they are usually based in verifiable fact? Is it because there are exceptions, and we have a difficult time recognizing those exceptions?

This is one area where I often agree with the PCers; but they typically go overboard in one direction or another and try to define absolutes.Intelligent people, especially those with a scientific inclination, usually recognize things as relative and analyze things in terms of probabilities.Stereotyping is akin to application of the bell curve. Two-thirds of a population with a normal distribution can be expected to fall within one standard deviation of the mean, and for most purposes be considered average, or typical of that population. There is much misapplication of the bell curve. For instance: IQ is normally distributed, and the SD is 15 points. Using these statistics the US education system considers students with a IQ between 85 and 115 to be average. This may be justifiable by economics and convenience. But, can a student with an IQ of 85 realistically be expected to compete with a student with an IQ of 115? Of course, it would not be PC to split them into two or more groups, because that would deny general equality. So, PCers are not always against stereotyping and bell curving. When it is necessary to guess the characteristics of an individual and there is no other available information defining that individual, choosing the central portion of the curve typically gives one a 2 in 3 chance of being close to correct.Nevertheless, the application of stereotypes and population statistics to individual humans is hazardous. Assuming a normal distribution, which isn’t necessarily a valid assumption, one still has a 1 in 3 chance of being incorrect, and with increasing deviation, a chance of being badly incorrect.Neither stereotypes nor population statistics should ever be applied to individuals where there is an alternative. That does not mean that the entire concepts should be thrown out, or that they do not have appropriate uses.I am a hard core scientist by education, experience, and attitude; but much of the current popular attitude about science disturbs me. Science does mot negate common sense, nor rule out it’s application. These days one needs to use a great deal of common sense just to determine what is science and what is not.More effort should be made to recognize the exceptions to stereotypes; but that necessitates reliance on human judgments, which PC often opposes. However, there is no substitute for human judgement. At least until AI replaces it.

Why do old people hate it when guys were their baseball cap backward?

There's always going to be a clash between the younger and older generation. I think older people see wearing a cape backwards as a way to rebel. They probably stereotype these kids who wear their capes back to front as the people who cause crime and are disrespectful towards the elderly. It just creates a bad image. In the days when older folk where kids, it was probably socially unacceptable to wear your clothing a certain way, for example when girls wear their skirt too short or tops too low. Or when guys have Mohawks, wear caps back to front, and have tattoo's. In the olden days people where more smartly dressed as it creates a better image.

I think it can look pretty cool on a guy though ;)

Do you think that America's obsession with independence is responsible for high divorce rates?

I am an American citizen by birth and come from a family deeply rooted in (old school) Korean tradition and Christian ideals; divorce, in my eyes, is wholly unacceptable and shameful unless infidelity is involved.

I have forward my question because of a deep distress for the kind of society that my future children may grow up in.

I am not against independence; I simply believe that currently, it has become a convenient excuse and propaganda for a selfish lifestyle, which I believe has perverted the wholesomeness and sanctity of marriage.

It is my understanding and belief that many marriages fail because one or both parties feel that they are not getting what they need or want from their marriage, which only reinforces the problem with the modern notion of independence. This notion, being defined today as essentially doing whatever benefits the self and solely the self.

I feel this is an unacceptable trend that reinforces not only the problem with marriage today, but human existence

Is it true that all people are at least a little bit racist?

Yes.It is originally a survival instinct, to “keep in the group” and “stick together”. That was initially. Now, it is a tool certain ethnicities use to try to make up for their jealousy and their ineptness compared to the other groups whom the racism is being directed at.Take for example, the French towards the Arabs in France, the Japanese and Koreans towards others in Japan and South Korea respectively, and the Malays towards the Chinese and Indians in Malaysia. They discriminate against them as it gives a sense of “superiority” over the others fulfilling their desire to be powerful, when they were once in power historically but not near to being powerless and reliant on other states.I have no intention of demeaning these groups or any other groups or countries that should be held responsible for racism. In fact, it is something that, yes, we should acknowledge and that by acknowledging it is there, we can do something about it instead of trying to cover it up, like (sorry) the Nanjing Massacre, the Armenian Genocide, the Nazi Holocaust and the slaughter of the Native Americans. All prime examples of acts of racism and those responsible deny them being so.When we finally learn to see beyond one’s skin colour, only then can we truly become a sophisticated and peaceful global society.

Why do Italians constantly have to remind everyone that they are, in fact, Italian?

I don't know if Italians from Italy do this but Italian-Americans and Italian Canadians and Italian Australians constantly remind people of their Italian-ness. Like they get angry or mad, they say "I can't help it I am Italian", or they say "I love to eat, I can't help it, I am Italian". LOL why? I didn't ask you if you were Italian why are you bringing it up? What difference does it make to being relevant?
