Is Studying In Ukraine Odessa Save

How much money do I need to live as a student in Ukraine?

You better think about 1500 per month (especially if you are going to rent any apartments).Decent apartment rent alone costs like $400-$500 Utility bills, if to pay separately, can easily add $100 more. My lunch in inexpensive cafeteria costs like $3 (without dessert) , so you can spend 3*3*30 = $270 just on eating 3 times a day. That’s already $770 , not including transportation, clothes, coffee or tea etc.Cost of Living in Kiev , current exchange rate is 26.4 UAH for 1$

Which university is better in Ukraine, Odessa National Medical University or Lviv National Medical University?

Let me make it really simple for you,I’m guessing you’re a foreign medical student so I would not recommend studying medicine in the Ukraine anywhere at all, you will be decepted by all sorts of agents into going there but trust me its not worth it.The students studying in these Universities are all there because they couldn’t find a place to study medicine in their own home countries and this makes a cheap alternative to them. The teachers at these universities are of really low quality and these foreign students act like cash machines for them, I’ve heard stories of teachers accepting bribes just to pass students and this is very common here, and the truth is you’re nothing but a walking pile of cash for them, You will not get any importance, The infrastructure is just average and overall the Universities here are way worse than even developing countries like India, Pakistan, China etc.The degrees from Ukraine/Russia do not get much Importance around the world, A friend who studied there was told that his degree is of little to no significance when he returned to UAE looking for a job.Heres my piece of advice, If you really want to study medicine look for a place in your own country and only look outside if you have a seriously strong financial background and apply somewhere in UK, Australia, I’ve even recently heard of Universities in Central Europe called Charles and Semmelweiss in countries like Czech Republic and Hungary that offer medicine in English, and they’ve had students who are successful all across the world so you might want to look into that however If you were unable to secure a place in your home country you will most likely not get into any good university abroad except a cash monging one.If you’re really interested in the medicine field and didn’t secure a spot, I would recommend you to look into other similar fields such as Pharmacy, Biomedicine, Gene technology, these are strong upcoming fields and will play a major role in shaping our future.Thank you!

Is it safe to study in Ukraine for an international student?

Surprisingly, it is safer to be a foreign student in Ukraine than to be a local. Here are some reasons for it.You have at least three insitutions caring about you. It’s the University itself which charges you more than the locals and is interested in your staying and graduating successfully. It’s the mediator who brought you to Ukraine and who wants you to tell other people who good it was in Ukraine so that they can find new customers in the coming years. And it’s your embassy which you can contact in a case of emergency. As a rule foreign students are allowed to occupy a block or a floor in the dormitory together. Most foreign students study in English-speaking groups which consist of foreigners. This helps to build a small but a very stable student community which is quick at solving day to day problems. Some governments (China and India at least) have a list of universities which they recommend to their students. Before putting a university on the list they come and check study conditions, curriculums, and dorms. You can make it safer if you only apply to a university which is on their list. You might receive some inside information from your government. In early spring 2014 the embassy of India commanded its students from Donetsk and Lugansk to apply for their summer exams earlier and to leave the cities. As a result most of the students left those cities long before the actual shooting and fighting started. As for racism, it would be stupid to deny that there are some racist movements in Ukraine. Still, those groups are very small. It seems to me that Black communities of Kharkiv, Odessa and Lviv are much bigger than skinhead communities of those cities. and in smaller cities like Sumy, Ivano-Frankivsk or Mykolaiv racists are just too few to be organized into a group. And as soon as you learn the language you can avoid risky situations easier. Your chance to get in trouble with a drunk roommate is much higher than the chance to get beaten by a bunch of skinheads.

Is Lviv Ukraine safe for international students?

Thank you for the request. It’s not even one of the safest cities in Ukraine, but the most beautiful and the most Europian place in the country. There are some rumors about Ukrainian fascists who live in Western Ukraine, but rumors are just empty words. In reality, Lviv is friendly and open cozy city with elegant architecture. So if you decide to study in Ukraine, this is one of the best choices.

How is life for an Indian living in Ukraine?

It is actually nice.I live in Uzhhorod, Ukraine. When I landed first in Kyiv, the border security officers passed me on and then I was out of the Airport. I felt cold, that was the one among the two days I felt too cold in Ukraine. The weather in Ukraine, at least in my city is very pleasant all around the year, even in the winters I do not feel very cold. The language is not much needed if you are in a group, there is always a possibility that you will find a person who speaks English no matter where you go. But I have picked up a little like. ‘meni potribno balshoy Shawarma’ which literally means I need a big size Shawarma. When I use public transport, I just say odin or dua, resembling to the number of travelers along with me, so he takes the money and returns the change. Even in the Super Market I pick all the things, the person bills it and asks ‘Paket?’ I reply ‘Da’. That is it the language is almost non-existent if you are a student studying in an English Medium course. I use Google Translate, if there is no one around me knowing English, it helps a lot.Food, there is an Indian Restaurant in my city, which dishes out the best Indian food, the provisions such as Rice, Atta, Chilly, Turmeric are available in the Market. For a person who lives on Curd Rice, I think it is more than enough. My city also has a lot of good pizzerias dishing out the best Italian thin crust pizzas.Ukrainians are very welcoming people, I have been asked for photographs with them several times when I walked around in Lviv. I have been to a Ukrainian friend’s home and they all are very nice and more pleasant than my relatives. A lady who I met in the Hospital while going to my Anatomy class, recalled a Bollywood Movie which I did not even know. The general notion that Ukrainians are serious people are absolutely false as far as I know, they all seem to be normal people as like us.The days get passed a lot faster in Ukraine, they really do and they are very enjoyable as well.

About the DENIED "Tourist Visa" in Ukraine for visit to U.S (Part 2).: Do you approve of this policy?

Close female friend denied "Tourist Visa". She makes more than U.S. median family income. Has son and family in Ukraine; owns her apartment, car, etc. Wanted to visit U.S. as vacation. AFTER her interview at U.S. Embassy in Kiev, Ukraine the interviewer handed her a 2-page document that had been on the desk the entire time: a letter DENYING her the visa! It was a photocopied FORM LETTER, addressed to "Dear Applicant" and stamped (i.e., rubber stamped) with the date. In short, they had decided BEFORE the interview to DENY the visa! She makes more money than most Americans and recently bought (paid in full with cash - that is how they do things there) a new apartment for her and her son. (Since her degrees would not be recognized here, she makes far more money there than she could here!! A foreign M.D. degree is useless in the U.S.) But U.S. policy is to DENY young females from former Soviet areas ANY visas, according to a Congressional aide I spoke with. Is this fair or stupid?
