Is The Alienware Aurora Or Alienware X51 Better And Why

Alienware x51 vs Aurora?

I'm thinking of buying a new gaming pc and have my eyes on these two models (mostly because of dell's payment program). My top budget is ~$1500 and was just wondering if the aurora is actually worth the extra few hundred dollars. The games I'd be playing are mostly RTSes like Sins of a Solar Empire and Shogun/Rome 2, and single-player RPGs like Skyrim. Specs for each as I'd be buying them:

X51:
Intel Core i5 processor
8GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1600Mhz memory
1TB SATA hard drive
GeForce gtx 645 w/ 1GB GDDR5 video card
$930

Aurora:
Intel Core i7 Extreme processor
8GB Quad Channel DDR3 at 1600MHz memory
2TB 7200 RPM SATA hard drive
GeForce GTX 680 w/ 2GB GDDR5 video card
$1469

Also the Aurora is liquid-cooled, which will come in handy, but it lacks built-in wi-fi without an extra fee.

Thanks much for any advice!

Alienware x51R2 vs. Aurora R4?

I have recently purchased an alienware x51 r2. I am upgrading to my first gaming pc as I have come from a line of 200-400$ laptops so it should be a pretty cool upgrade. The only problem is, I have been put down as I did not get an aurora. Everyone is saying that I won't be able to play some of the upcoming games on ultra and saying it was a waste of money :/. I keep hearing that I should have purchased an aurora but I just feel like crap now. I am really excited as it's coming within the next 2 days but now I feel bad idk. Any thought on it?

Alienware Aurora vs Mac Pro?

So I've been thinking about seriously getting into computer gaming as a change form Console lately, and I've narrowed it down to two, I think. Keep in mind, I am NOT going to hand-build a PC, so don't say that's better than everything. And no, I do not need the absolute BEST thing, I just want to run my games on max graphics, pretty fast, and be able to compete reliably on a competetive level. So I've been looking at an Alienware Aurora Desktop, with 8GB memory and a 1TB hard drive, or an 8-core Mac Pro. Which would you guys recommend as a better semi-casual gaming setup? Thanks in advance!! :)

Can I install Ubuntu14 on Alienware aurora R5?

There shouldn’t be any reason you can’t. You might want to take a look at Knoppix — also Debian-based — which is designed to run off of a DVD drive or USB stick. This would allow you to keep the Alienware’s native OS, but run Linux whenever you choose; (I always keep a “Knoppix stick” hanging around just for troubleshooting/fixing OS issues in other machines!)If Knoppix 7.6 runs well on the AW, you should be “good-to-go” with Ubuntu 14. If (for any reason) you’re not, try installing the latest Debian kernel: How to Install Linux Kernel 4.4 in Ubuntu. That should have all the driver packages Knoppix had and then some.
