Is The Beard Influenced By Genetics Will I Have The Same Beard As My Dad

At what age do guys’ beards reach their full potential of thickness and growth: early, mid, or late 20s?

Facial hair is definitely something that comes later on in a man’s life for most. I have excellent beard growing genetics from both my father and grandfather. I thought it skipped me because at 16 my face was still bare. Next year I was growing blonde hair on my chin and a little bit on moustache area. Two years after that (19) the hair was getting darker and growing quicker at this point I could grow a decent goatee but the cheeks and neck were still very sparse. I’m almost 22 now and my chin is completely covered with stubble down my neck to the Adam’s apple coming up my sideburns. I’m almost able to grow a full beard but prolly have to wait yet another couple years for patchy areas to fill in. My relatives including my father say it took them until about 25 before the beard patchiness was gone but chest hair kept developing until 30.

If my mom's dad was bald, will I go bald?

Since, genetically, baldness is passed through your mom's genes then you have about a 25% chance to follow your mom's dad's pattern of hair loss. The reason for this is that the gene for baldness sits on the X chromosome. And just in case you have forgotten your 7th grade Biology class woman has two X chromosomes (XX) and a male has one X and one Y (XY). Since you are a male, you got the Y gene from your dad and your mom gave you one of her two X's. One of those X's (belonging to your mom) came from her dad, and the other from her mom. So, depending on what X she gave you you could follow her dad's hair balding patterns or you could follow the balding patterns of one of the men in you mom's mom's relatives. Your ethnicity, honestly doesn't matter in this situation. It's all in the genes :) Hope that answer wasn't too science-y for you. :)

My dad had a beard. Does this mean I'll grow a beard too? And can a beard appear after puberty?

If you are male, yes most likely..However if you are female the likely hood drops dramatically.A beard will not just appear after puberty, it may take many years of grooming and spotty patch’s before you have a full luscious beard .

Will my beard get thicker? Is it genetic?

I am 22 and my beard is not thick at all. I can grow a "spotty" beard so to speak. It isn't really thick (hairs are more spaced out) and I don't really grow many hairs on my cheek (mostly around jaw line). It doesn't look good if I just let my beard grow because it looks sloppy. I can't grow handlebars either so I pretty much have that spaniard-looking/shakepearean look with the mustache and soulpatch if I choose to grow a goatee.

My father has a really thick beard and hair on his chest. His legs aren't that hairy (mine are hairier), but his arms are a bit hairier than mine. I have little doily hairs on my chest that are very few in number...barely noticeable from a distance. I have really hairy legs and thick eyebrows...that's about it.

So my question is, do I have a hormone deficiency or is it just that I have different genes?

Does your dad give you breast size genes?

Indeed. Everyone has TWO complete sets of genes. One set is inherited from their father, one set from their mother. At each level, one is active and one dormant. When you become a parent, exactly half of your DNA is passed to your offspring but - and this is important - although you pass on a full set, it is selected randomly from your active and dormant genes.

In your case you have inherited TWO genes for boob size, one from each of your parents. The active one has given you a 36D. It might have come from your father, or (equally likely) it might have come from your mother, but have been one of her dormant genes.

It is similarly possible, for example, for a mother to pass on to her son the gene(s) responsible for his beard growth.

I am having bald spots growing my beard?

Hi, I am 29 yrs old and I decided to grow a beard for the fall. Trying at least. I say that because, I always shave it because one side fills in and the other side looks like an Appalachian with some bald spots and some hair. I don't know if I just need to be patient and it will fill in or is it a lost cause. I need help my friend which has a beard like ZZtop says be patient, well should I or what can I do

My beard does not grow in some spots of my face. Is there any way to fix that?

I have the same problem. So does Keanu Reeves, so don't let anyone on here tell you that you are less of a man because of it. It is actually quite common. It is usually hereditary as I got my condition from my dad. I can grow a full beard except right along the sides of my mouth. A friend of mine used to have the same problem, but he would pencil the rest of it in with his sister's make up pencil. We used take him out to clubs and give him draft beer so that the pencil marks would half way wash off and he would look ridiculous.

As for my condition, not only do I have a patchy beard, but I also cannot let the hair on my face grow too long or else it starts to curl and grow back into my skin. I end up getting a bunch of in-grown hairs on my face and neck and it looks I'm breaking out. Don't feel bad, just shave or grow some other type of facial hair like a goatee, sideburns, mustache, fu man chu, handle bars, etc.

Does a boy inherit his male characteristics like (how thick his beard will be, penis size, how broad his shoulders will be) only from his father's genes, and the same thing for a girl (breasts’ size) from her mother's genes?

All people inherit 50% of their genes from their father nd 50% of their genes from their mother.Almost all of their genes will be activated and be a part of the new person. There are almost no genetic traits on the Y chromosome. And most of them, is also found on the X chromosome. But there are a different gene on the Y chromosome. This gene is able to activate the male genes, that the person have inherited from both parents.
