Is The Brand Vanilla Eyes Contact Lens Safe

Are contact lenses safe?

Contact lenses are safe. However, with everything that we use, it depends on how we use them and take care of things. Contact lenses have specific instructions on how to care and maintain them.I have been wearing contact lenses that need to be cleaned every night and completely replaced every two weeks. I always take care to follow my optometrist/ophthalmologists advice - many times it is similar to this:Always change out the contacts according to the manufacturer specified timeline. In my case, I have to change them out every two weeks. If I go over, the contact starts to improperly degrade and not clean as well and there is a higher chance of infection or eye damage. As long as I change them out on time, I'm okay. Take them out a few hours before going to bed to give you eyes some rest and recovery time. It's better to do this hours before going to bed because you get more open eye time to recover from the stress of a piece of plastic sitting on your cornea. Simply taking them out and hitting the pillow is not enough. This should be done every night. I occasionally forget, but I do my best to remember. Have a day where you go contact free once a week. My optometrist never fully explained this to me, but from just doing it myself I notice a huge benefit in terms of my eyes just relaxing. I do wear a pair of glasses with my updated prescription on this day. Most importantly - you must properly clean and care for your contacts. My optometrist recommended a hydrogen peroxide based cleaning solution that I have been using for 6 years now and I have never had any issues with eye infections or problems related to my contacts. Again, there are specific directions to follow with every manufacturer of cleaning solution. Ask your optometrist for their recommended brand and do your own research. I understand scary stories are a huge deal and they can impact our decisions. But, you have to remember that these news stories are a small percentage of actual things that are happening. Not everything in a tabloid (which is what the DailyMail tends to emulate) should be taken as absolute truth applicable to everyone. I applaud you for seeking out some truth. For some more information visit this FDA information page: http://www.fda.gov/forconsumers/...Thanks! I apologize for any errors; I'm on my phone typing this up.

Can contact lenses be dangerous to eyes?

This question falls under the category of does breathing kill you? What I mean is, the answer is obvious until you start to dissect it and realize there is more to it.Contacts, when used properly, are harmless.I have been wearing contacts for over 30yrs. I have been fitting contact lenses for over 20yrs. I can count on one hand the number of patients that had serious issues with contacts. They all have a few things in common:they didn’t follow instructionsthey didn’t get examined regularly (once a year)they ignored warning signsOne ended up with a corneal transplant and amazingly enough was sent back to me to be fitted for contacts (again) because they couldn’t tolerate glasses (the transplanted cornea caused a large disparity between the eyes).99.99% of my patients have had uneventful experiences with contacts with regard to the health of their eyes. As for their life experiences, they can’t imagine themselves not wearing contacts.Today’s contacts are safer than ever, especially the 1-day use lenses. Just folower these simple rules and you will a happy contact lens wearer:get an eye examget a contact lens fitting (usually not included in a regular eye exam)ask about the 1-day lenses and ask about the most breathable onesget trained in proper insertion and removal techniquespractice proper hygiene (wash hands, avoid water in eyes, etc.)get regular, yearly, eye examsremove lenses if you feel any irritation or you’re eyes get red (go see your doctor).remove lenses an hour before bed time (this avoids sleeping with lenses)only wear the lenses prescribed by your doctor (seems obvious but there are lenses out there being sold that are not FDA approved and they CAN do harm).I hope this helps and as always, good luck!

I am 22 and this is my eye prescription. What type of contact lens will be best for me? Should I go for LASIK?

If you are only going to wear them occasionally, go for daily disposable soft contact lenses. That way, you won't have to worry about cleaning/soaking solutions, and you can minimise the potential problems of allergies and infections.Daily disposables means that you put them on for the day, then after taking them off later that day you just throw them away. There are various brands available-any from reputable companies like Alcon, Johnson and Johnson or Coopervision would be fine.I would go for a -1.75DS lens for your right eye and a -2.50DS lens for your left eye. ie pure spherical lenses, as the astigmatism is not enough to require toric lenses.LASIK is not essential but would remove the hassle of contact lenses. LASIK would be like having contact lenses on all the time, but without the problems of contact lens wear. Generally I find people like you with low spectacle powers get the best results from LASIK-ie fast recovery of clear vision, no visual side effects like halos. You will do well with LASIK. At your age also, you have 20 years to go before reading becomes difficult and you need reading glasses. During these 20 years, everything will be perfectly clear-both far and near things. But of course, glasses and contact lenses are perfectly fine too, so the decision whether to go for LASIK is a personal one which you have to make yourself.

Is it bad for your eyes to wear contact lenses every day? If I remove them just before bed and put them back in right after waking up, am I doing damage to my eyes?

When Bausch and Lomb first came out with soft contact lenses, their ads claimed you could keep them in for 30 days (day and night). After endless infections  and suits, they changed their story.I saw college kids take a bothersome contact out of their eye, put it in their mouth for moisture, and pop it back in.On a beach vacation, sand gets into the soap, a piece of sand can get under your contact, it is soft, you do not notice it. In a few hours the sand does little damage, in 30 days or even overnight it could be catastrophe.James Bond to the gadget guy in Goldfinger : "You woud be amazed what wear and tear takes place out in the field". Tech people and Bausch and Lomb did not seem to have any idea of what their products really went through in the real world. Legal disclaimers do not cut it.Your eyes need to breathe and you only have 1 set.  Accidental infection, foreign particles, dust, sand and dehydration are inevitable. No contact lenses should ever be on you asleep. You  are not doing damage to your eyes by constantly taking them out. In fact this is the safest thing to do with any contacts.

Can I just cancel the purchase I made from Lenscrafters and get my money back?

I went to lenscrafters on monday (it is now 1am wed) to get a pair of glasses under the impression that I'd get them in an hour like their sign says. (ONLY REASON I WENT). well they said they didn't have my prescription in stock so it'd take "about a week" to ship the lenses in.........So I went ahead and paid them. But I've been reading online about how people have had to wait 2 weeks or more for theirs, and I can't do that I need them quicker than that.

I went to eyemasters afterwards and they said they could get them in 3 days. So my question is since the refund policy at Lenscrafters is money back gurantee on any glasses before 30 days after receiving them, should I be able to just call them later today and get my money, since they haven't even made them yet?
