Is The British Royal Family Supposed To Serve As A Role Model For British Family Life And How To

Have any of the living members of the British royal family ever disappointed you with their actions, decisions, behaviour?

If so, which of the royals was it and what did they do to disappoint you? Also, do you think the royal family should be positive role models for the nation, or do the majority of the public give little thought to the royals at all?

Is the British royal family supposed to serve as a role model for British family life and how to live with good moral character?

Yes and they are doing a fine job of it, it's fun to dress as a Nazi, smoke pot, have several affairs, talk to plants and wave at people from a posh car.

Seriously though, they don't have a purpose, the royal family started by their ancestors basically stealing what they wanted, land, property and wealth. This is why people are opposed to them even though they MAY bring money in, it's still not fair. At one time they did have political power, they just installed themselves and could even decide if you are going to live or die. The power they had has been taken away but not all the riches that are basically stolen.

You can stop a president becoming too powerful by only allowing them to stand twice, for example in America even if the Democrats win it won't be Obama again, he HAS to retire as president and the Democrats will select someone else just before the election.

What purpose does the British royal family serve, other than to make public appearances?

In Canada, Elizabeth II is our Queen, Sovereign, and Head of State, as distinct from being anyone else’s Queen. Our Constitutional Monarchy in its present form, is a great democratic invention, to protect the realm from the enemies of democracy. Western Democracies have enemies that seek to destroy our government systems and way of life. However, these plotters rightly observe that to start, they first must undermine the Crown, and foster public indifference and then disrespect, all on the road to abolition. The Crown’s existence and role stands in the way of internal political dissolution and strife, and protects order and mitigates against the forces that could arise to make a failed state. The Crown’s power is in reserve. Because it is there, it has an effect, but hopefully never has to be used in its forceful interventionist way. (something like a nuclear weapon) The social and legal advantages are many. Quora sees many questions about the British Monarchy that clearly are from rogue sources, that are playing the long-game, to sow discord and undermine the Crown for their malevolent agenda.k7

Is family role as important today as it is in the past?

The family role is more important than ever. Even if both parents have to work to make ends meet, the children's and partners need for love and affection is still the same. If parents are involved in the every day life of their children and show an active need to do so then they should be alright. Children learn what they live, children live what they learn.
Don't forget the extended family, grandparents can help fill in the void.

What are some dark secrets about the British royal family?

In the past, the “royal” family is marked by incest. Even today, Elizabeth II and her husband Philip are 3rd cousins… many would dub this as not being closely related, but it’s still a hell of a lot closer than the average couple! The practice of “keeping it in the family” has been a long standing tradition of the family for centuries.Louis Frederick (Prince of Wales), and his 5x great-grandson Freddie Windsor. Many of them even married their 1st cousin, including Queen Victoria:And the Prince John that is mentioned in Justin’s answer? His parents were 2nd cousins. Nobody deserves to be called royal because they’re no more physically nor mentally superior to the average joe that passes you on the street; they’re completely average when you strip away the grandeur. However—if there’s a family of people least deserving of this title, it’s the one whose genetic heritage is inferior to the average person’s. Anyway, I digress. The other dark secret that springs in my mind is the Charles-Camilla affair. Charles had no respect for Diana and was cheating on her long before they were even married. Despite this philandering and ungodly attitude, Elizabeth herself was very nonchalant about it and showed no support for her daughter-in-law… not even a speck of sympathy. After all, he could never be anything less than perfect in mumsy’s eyes, no matter how despicable his behaviour was.

Why was Princess Margaret the black sheep of the Royal Family?

She was the original rebel! She has an affair with a married man, Peter Townsend, who left his wife and children to marry her. After they were engaged, Parliament put enormous pressure on Queen Elizabeth to prevent the marriage; she had him sent away to Europe and told Margaret she would have to renounce her HRH title and lose any and all income generated by her status as a member of the Royal Family and would have to leave England indefinitely. Margaret, who exalted in being a very wealthy member of British royalty and lived a very lavish lifestyle, chose her position and money over love. She was constantly photographed out partying; attractive, petite, spoiled, demanding and with a big sense of self-entitlement, a chain smoker and heavy drinker, the Press followed her everywhere, splashing her photo on the cover of every newspaper and magazine. She was very much the Princess Diana of that era. It's interesting to note that Margaret supposedly detested Diana, thinking her a disgrace to the royal family, extremely hypocritical considering the outrageous behavior Margaret engaged in during her younger to middle aged years. She married Antony Armstrong-Jones, a man she proposed to but didn't love, rumored to be bisexual if not gay, having fathered a daughter with his best friends wife, a baby girl born just a few weeks after his wedding to Margaret AND, according to sources, had an affair with HIM too. Rumors and gossip were so prevalent, in fact, that it was deemed inappropriate that he should serve as Antony's best man and had to step aside at the last minute. Not surprisingly, Margaret was unhappy in the marriage and openly engaged in extramarital affairs, as did her husband, before divorcing in the late 70’s. Not only a heavy drinker and smoker, it's rumored that she was fond of cocaine, was not opposed to group sex and had nude photos of her confiscated by MI5 from at least one private citizen. She was often moody and petulant at public appearances, resentful that she was required to make them at all as a Royal and really, was the ultimate snob and party girl who loved expensive things and “working” as little as possible.

Is Prince William a good role model for young people in Great Britain?

God, no. What are people with a normal upbringing supposed to learn about their lives from someone who was born to the Monarchy? Now, he’s a great role-model to those born into a super-wealthy family. The royal family has a tradition of service to their country that it seems many billionaires only inherit late in their careers. They could learn a lot from his term of military service, from his commitment to charity and from the way his life is defined by his role as an ambassador.
