Is The Conjuring Movie Really That Scary

On a scale of 1-10 how scary is the new movie The Conjuring?

The movie wasn't that scary honestly. It was well put together and the plot was good I suppose but it didn't make me sort of jump in any scene. I don't think the movie overall was bad but don't expect it to be really scary. It is, however, better than a lot of horror movies that have been released in recent years.

Is The Conjuring scary? As in...really scary?

Ok, now let me tell you, although I haven't watched it actually, I have watched Cabin in the Woods. This movie was honestly not that scary, and for you to be saying that you "Jumped", I don't recommend even bothering to watch "the conjuring" based off the trailers alone. When I was very very young, around 9 years old, I started watching "Halloween", "Saw", "Ring", etc with my parents at 12 at night on a saturday in a huge house. After the movie I would have to walk all the way up stairs to my room in the dark. I was left with images that I still have. I would myself watch "The Conjuring" because now scary movies aren't exactly very scary for me( I too jump but I have gotten accustomed to the message "this can literally not affect you in any single way and you are just complicating your life by thinking about it".) I still have, very rarely, flashbacks from movies that I have watched at night and it scares me half to death. It's up to you at the end if you think that you should PAY to get yourself scared, possibly have lifetime flashbacks, and close your eyes for half the movie.

How Scary Is 'The Conjuring' Movie?

I walked into "The Conjuring" hoping that this film would scare the living daylights out of me. Something that would leave me emotionally spent after the lights come up. "The Conjuring” is the film that does exactly that. Ignore the based on a true story tagline. This film is scary and will scare the crap out of you.

Is there any movies scarier then the conjuring?

I really liked "The Conjuring," and I would agree that it's probably one of the scariest movies I've seen as well.

As far as something scarier, it would honestly be hard to say. First of all, being in the movie theater enhances the senses and makes horror films much scarier than they normally would be just sitting at home. The type of horror movie also has a lot to do with whether it's scary. Most horror films these days are full of blood, violence, and gore, and as you saw, there isn't much of any of that in The Conjuring because it's a psychological horror film. A good example of the difference would be "Evil Dead" (the 2013 version). That is also a horror movie, but it is just nonstop blood, gore, and murder, so it's nastier more so than scary. Likewise with the "Saw" movies.

Also, I think the age of the movie has something to do with it. When you see the film when it first comes out, it's much scarier than when you go back in time, because after all, these movies borrow ideas from each and the effects are always changing, so a horror film made in 2013 will most likely be much scarier than one made in 2009. I remember when the 2003 version of "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" came out, I literally had nightmares for weeks, but after watching it again recently, there isn't anything at all scary about that movie. I had a dreadful fear of "Candyman" from the 1990s, but that too looks foolish nowadays since technology is advancing the effects in the movies.

If you haven't seen them yet, I'd say "Insidious" and "Paranormal Activity" are very creepy movies as well. The Conjuring takes its style from those films. The original 1973 version of "The Exorcist" is a classic and a MUST see for anyone interested in horror films. You probably won't be scared (after all, it's 40 years old), but it still is a very creepy movie. You have to remember that that was the movie that set the standard for every single horror movie produced since then; people were literally throwing up and passing out in the theaters while watching it!

Which movie is scarier than "The Conjuring"?

This is a hard question. I like horror movies that have a storyline and have more mystery and thought put into it then just a slasher film. I would reccomend the woman in black, a quiet place, and the house at the end of the street. I also really love the scream movies. All of these have a good storyline and have a lot of suspense.

How scary is The Conjuring?

I recommend to those who don't watch scary movie usually not to watch this movie because it will haunt you for several weeks or even months. Trust me, that background music still running through my mind. I watched this movie 3 years ago. It scared the shit outta me. The ghost Bathsheba seems very real and can reach anywhere once it is latched with you or your family. She hanged herself on a creepy tree. She had a doll Annabelle which is also scary af and can go anywhere she wants without assistance.

Is The Conjuring Scary?

Try it you might like it. When I walked into "The Conjuring" hoping that this film would scare the living daylights out of me. Something that would leave me emotionally spent after the lights come up. "The Conjuring” is the film that does exactly that. Ignore the based on a true story tagline. This film is scary and will scare the crap out of you.

How scary is the conjuring?

Wow, that's a LOT of questions!

In my opinion, "The Conjuring" wasn't scary at all; just VERY creepy! I didn't have nightmares or anything, but the music and camera angles alone are enough to give you chills. The acting was great which is rare for a horror film.

1) Again, I didn't think it was scary, but on a creepiness scale of 1-10, I'd give it an 8

2) Whether you get scared or not is completely subjective. Different things frighten different people, so there's no way anybody could tell you whether or not you would get scared. You have to see it and determine for yourself.

3) For me, I didn't have to think about anything after I saw it. It was good entertainment. I'm not sure how spiritual/religious you are, but if you do believe in the possibility of ghosts, spirits, demons, the supernatural, etc., then it may cause you to think about it once you finish watching it. Since you're young, I'm sure it'll cause you to think about it more than an adult.

4) The plot of the story is about a couple (Ed and Lorraine Warren) being asked by a woman to investigate her family's home after strange things start happening shortly after they move in. The Warren's conduct their investigation and discover that there are several destructive demonic entities in the house, and suggest an immediate exorcism.

5) I didn't jump in my seat, but I did get goosebumps a lot and had to close my eyes a few times ;)

6) I didn't scream at all

7) No one in the theater screamed when I went to see it, and the theater was quite full. A lot of people were jumping in their seats though!

8) People were leaving, but just to get concessions because they kept coming back with food

In my opinion, it's probably the best horror film of the 21st century (it has an 85% out of 100 rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which is extremely rare for any genre of movie; not just horror). This movie doesn't have gore, violence, sex, or foul language, and I think that's what helps make it even better!

How scary is the movie"The Conjuring 2 " for a person who has never watched horror movies?

Hi there, after reading your question details I have only one thing to say “DO NOT WATCH THE MOVIE”If you want you watch this movie just to impress your friends for few hours and affect you sleep for months then I think its not worth it. I know people like you, who cannot remove such images from your head easily. Others just forget as soon as they leave the theater. There are two things to this:Its not that those who watch HORROR movies are more Brave then those who don’t watch. Actually its, vice verse. Because when you watch horror movies your mind becomes more creative in similar situations(like darkness). Just Imagine a kid who has never watched a horror movie in his life will he be expecting to see a disfigured ghost under his bed? No. But those who have watched horror movies, will…because some movie director had shown you that there can be ghost under your bed at night and it looks like this..…… Its the director’s imagination playing tricks with your mind. So no such director, no horror movie, will lead to no Ugly ghost. ;) [Its not that you won’t be afraid in life but at least not because of such silly reasons :)]Second, Movies are for fun. If you are not enjoying it and staying tensed the whole time then I don’t think its worth going. There are people who watch horror movies and just love them. Let them watch and enjoy. ;) It’s just that it’s not your cup of tea. :)By the way if you have stopped watching horror movie, then Conjuring 2 ain’t the one you should starting picking up from. ;)enJoy ;)
