Is The Fma Brotherhood Ova Collection Worth Watching

Is the FMA Brotherhood OVA Collection worth watching?

I am a huge fan of both FMA anime series as well as the movies. But one thing I did not like one bit was the OVA collection for the original FMA anime. Most of the features felt rushed, one was just a feature of SD versions of the cast complaining about the Conqueror of Shamballa...in fact the only one that was of any substance was the one featuring the children.

I saw the trailer for the FMAB OVA collection and it looks like it is much more tied in to the plot of the series the previous OVAs, but I wanted to get an opinion of someone who has actually seen it.

Is Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood worth watching?

Yes:I consider it to be one of the best anime of all time.It has everything.Great protagonistsGreat antagonistsNear perfect storyLessonsEthical DilemmasIdeologies

Is Fullmetal alchemist Brotherhood worth watching?

Yes! I have watched all the episodes that have been released and it is defiantly worth watching! (and if I might add total awesome!!) Are you hesitant because you watched the first FMA and think it is just the same? Well if so then don't worry because this series is definitely different following the manga more closely then the first series did. There are some episodes that are similar, but are different enough to keep you on your toes (think of it as a retelling of the story with a completely different ending). Even if you haven't watched the first FMA or read the manga FMA: Brotherhood is worth checking out.

Is FMA worth watching after FMA Brotherhood?

Lemme get something clear. FMA 2003 isn’t the original one. In 2003 they started making the anime for FMA while the manga has yet to finish, and the author has yet to finish thinking about her plot, so the anime producer had to think of their own story, and gave FMA their own ending. So basically FMA 2003 is like a fanfic. The original one is actually FMA brotherhood, a remake after the manga has finished in order to follow the author’s plot.So it depends on you. If you wanna see a different approach to the story, try it out. In my own opinion the 2003 story, although not as grand and shocking as the author’s story, is also quite good. Be warned though, there’s nearly a decade of age gap between these two versions: the animation of 2003 would be pale in comparison to that of 2011. So don’t expect the nice visuals you get from Brotherhood.

Can I watch Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood without watching Fullmetal Alchemist?

Yes . The initial story in each is the same. Fullmetal alchemist is not as good as brotherhood as it does not follow the manga later on after 12 episodes. Brotherhood does leave some things unexplained initially as it was assumed you watched the earlier version when it was released, but the story is so different in the original that you wont notice what you missed if did not watch the original and went straight to brotherhood. They have similar names but after 12 episodes they are completely different anime.Brotherhood is far better than the 2006 release of FMA. And it's like that's the version you should be watching. I can't even relate to the first version after watching Brotherhood

Is it possible to watch Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood without watching the original?

...Except that Butler got it completely turned around. What kind of person thinks that watching an anime and then turning around and watching a manga adaptation will confuse you. If anything, it adds more depth into the characters of old, and lets you focus more on the new characters and the new circumstances that make Brotherhood completely different from Fullmetal Alchemist. For example, since you didn't say " No spoilers", the whole "gate of truth" scene is COMPLETELY remade, and Ed ends up realizing that the person he transmuted WASN'T his mother, and then he finds Al's body inside of the gate, when he escapes from Gluttony's belly, since Gluttony has a fake gate of truth inside of it. Also, they go away from that Homunculus weakness BS, and instead they have no weakness, but they have to die so many times before their bodies can no longer regenerate and they finally die, which i guess is an achilles heel all in itself.

That said, it is definitely worth watching the original Fullmetal Alchemist FIRST, so you can get some understanding of Ed and Al's characters, and the other characters as well, and as you work your way into the first Brotherhood episodes, you'll say "OH, I understand that now!! i feel so stupid not knowing something as silly as that." kind of a "light bulb over your head" moment.

Youll actually understand Brotherhood MORE if you watch FMA. it's stupid to think you can open a book halfway and read the last half without reading the first half.

Even though Brotherhood is essentially FMA plus some stuff, it's also FMA minus stuff as well. you would only be seeing one side of the coin if you just see Brotherhood without seeing FMA first. it's just like Hellsing Ultimate. sure, you can start watching Hellsing Ultimate from the third volume, just because the first two volumes are reflected in the anime series, but why WOULDN'T you want to watch the first two Ultimate series just to see what's different from the anime to the OVA.

Definitely watch Fullmetal Alchemist first. if you like anime, there's no reason to NOT watch anime, it makes you look like a rookie or something, which is never good, because then what's the point of watching anime?

Do you watch FMA or FMA Brotherhood first?

FMAB is the one which follows the manga. However FMAB rushes through the beginning part which FMA takes time to show. FMA follows the manga for the first 25–30 episodes (please check, don't exactly remember). The parts shown here are rushed through very quickly in FMAB.I had watched FMA first and then FMAB, so i had better knowledge of these parts. You still can watch only FMAB if you want, it will still make perfect sense. However if you want you can watch FMA too. It may not be canon, but i personally feel that the concept was a good one (not as good as FMAB, obviously, but still, not bad).So if you want only manga related content go for FMAB, but if you're not just after canon, you can give FMA a try. The one you want to watch first is upto you. FMAB definitely has a better story and end than FMA, so you may not like watching FMA after FMAB.Hope this helped.PS: Bijay Gurung's answer to Do you watch FMA or FMA Brotherhood first? This answer is pretty good if you're confused about what to watch and how. Do give it a read.

Why should I watch the anime "Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood"?

It’s a long answer. First of all there is an argument whether or not FMAB is the best anime or not. There are other animes like Death Note, Code Geass, Berserk(manga), Cowboy Bebop that can be considered as best. So what is the difference between FMAB and these animes? So let’s look at the plot. Two brothers Ed and Al tried to bring their dead mother back to life. But not only they failed to do that, Al lost his body and Ed lost his left leg. To bond Al’s soul to a suit of armour Ed sacrifices his right hand. Now they are on a journey to bring Al’s body back. This is story that has parfect balance between dark and light. It has action, adventure, romance, politics etc. There are lot of characters and you can’t decide who is your favorite. Even you will sometime cheer for the villains. The story has a mystery behind it that you can’t stop watching it. Most of the episodes will also end in a cliffhanger so that you have to watch the next. There are deaths but not many. So you can be assured that you will not be depressed after watching it (it happened to me after watching Death Note). Sometimes the dialogues are cheesy but not that much that you can’t watch anymore.Next thing is animation. The animation us sueperb mostly of fire and there is a lot of fire involved. Fightings are crazy. The second best thing after the story about this anime is the music. The 1st opening song Again by Yui is by far one of the best anime song. Also there are total 5 opening songs and if you watch then in sequence they tell the story. There are also the musics Trisha’s Lullaby and Lapis Philosophorum. There are 64 episodes. The mystery, the tension, the action will keep you watching the show. Just watch it, it will be a hell of a ride. There are many things that can be said about this anime but I avoid spoilers and kept it to the point and short.

**Anime Lovers Only!!** I just finished Watching Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Now what?

Ok so I've never been one to watch anime but I really got into Full Metal Alchemist. When I finished I watched Brotherhood on Dubhappy.com in english then finished the rest on Youtube in japanese with subs. Then Dubhappy.com released the rest in english which I just finished watching last night.

The only other "Amine" I ever watched is that old nick show "Avatar: The last Air bender" Which wasn't really anime because it was created in the U.S but I loved it and I can't wait for the sequel.

I want to try to watch some more anime but not any that just go on forever like Pokemon or Bleach. I don't want any kid show like Yo-Gi-Oh or Naruto or Dragon Ball Z or stuff like that. (Not trying to Dis any of those shows or anything)

I loved FMA and FMAB so much!! And I'm so sad that I fished them! :'( I'm currently reading the Manga but I liked watching the show better. So if any of you have any suggestions on a good anime to watch than please answer! Thank you sooo much if you do! :D

Oh and two more questions!!

1. Does anyone know if there will be a sequel to the FMAB series? Like a movie or a epilogue of some sort?

2. Are there any more anime series involving Alchemy? I looked but I've had no luck. It would be awesome if there was!! :D

**Thanks for taking time out to read this! And possibly answer? Thanks!**
