Is The Kindle Fire Hdx Worth The Extra Money Over The Kindle Fire Hd

What do you think of the new Kindle Fire HDX?

I am assuming that you are asking about the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9.  This is the most expensive 4th Generation Fire Tablet from Amazon. It is a good device, with features at par with the rival tablets, if not better. Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 is your way to go If you are on a budget and want best bang for buck.It does have some flaws here and there, but overall it provides best value with features like sharp 1080p display, awesome sound quality (as compared to other tablet or portable device) and you get a storage of 64 GB well under a budget of 500 bucks, whereas, the iPad will cost you around 500 bucks for just 16 GB. And it has dual camera with HD quality recording and photo taking capability. It is by far the most powerful tablet from Amazon with a quad core processor running at 2.5 GHz and 2GB RAM. The downside is that you do not have direct access to Google Play Store. If you want to install any application from Google Play, then you have to side-load them to your device. Fortunately, that is a pretty easy process. The previous 3rd generation Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 is still available right now at a cheaper price, and it can be a good bargain too if you have a lower budget. There’s more information here, if you want a comparison of the previous generation with the Fire HDX 8.9 4th generation: Fire HDX 8.9 vs Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 3rd Generation

Ipad 4 or the new Kindle Fire HDX?

Hi Lismid. If you have the budget then I do prefer the iPad for the app store and tons of accessories that you can find to use with it in market plus it is more popular, so you'll find an easy solution for every issue with your device.

Whereas if your budget is tight and you still want the best tablet for your money then the Kindle Fire HDX gives the best bang for buck as it even has better specs in few places like the Quad core processor, 8MP camera and better resolution.

See this comparison between Kindle Fire HDX vs iPad 4, would definitely be helpful on this decision:

Kindle Fire HD vs Kindle Fire HDX?

Kindle Fire HDX is the one with front facing HD camera and all better features like the quad core processor, 2Gb RAM, 1920*1200 HD display, Dual WiFi antenna etc. So you get the best of features in the lowest price possible. Whereas the Kindle Fire HD is the one with minimal amount of features, but enough to keep up with the standards of low-priced tablets. It would give you the same experience of Kindle Fire HDX but in a lower price with removal of few pricey features.

Detailed discussion on what is extra and what is missing on the Kindle Fire HD compared to HDX:

If you have a good budget, then I would surely recommend the Kindle Fire HDX as it comes with faster processor and other innerware is worth paying extra bucks for. Whereas if you are tight on budget and you just want a device to watch movies or surf web, then Kindle Fire HD does the job.

Hope this helped!

Why isn't my Kindle Fire charging?

Before you begin, make sure that:1. You are using the power adapter and micro-USB cable that came with your device.2. You are charging your device from a power outlet. Using a USB port connected to a computer 3. will increase charging time.4. The micro-USB cable is securely connected to your device and power adapter. Then:Unplug the power adapter and micro-USB cable from your device, and then connect them to your device again.Insert the power adaptor into a power outlet. If your device doesn't indicate that it's charging, unplug the power adapter and restart the device. After you restart (or attempt to restart) your device, plug the power adapter and micro-USB cable into the device and charge for at least an hour.If your device is turned on, the battery indicator will look like this when your Kindle Fire is charging. If your Kindle Fire doesn't turn on or doesn't respond, make sure the power adapter and micro-USB cable are securely connected, and verify that your electrical outlet is working. For any type of kindle issues you can call on this number +1-855-601-0005

Several Questions about the Kindle Fire?

Let me preface this by saying I do not own a Fire, but I have researched them and few co-workers have fires.

1. Haven't seen video yet. But the size seems to be ok. The Fire's screen is 7 inches vs the iPad's 9.7inch screen. that's not a big difference. Having used an ipad here at work and looking at the Fire, I don't see much difference.

2. Haven't watched a netflix movie on the Fire, but I have watched it on my Droid X. The video quality is excellent. I did not see any buffering issues, but I was on 3g...the Fire doesn't have 3G so you're bound to the connection quality of whatever wifi hotspot you're connected to.

3. No problem viewing webpages. Again, there isn't that much of a difference.

4. itunes is one of the worst pieces of crapp I've ever encounterd. Buggy, laggy, and plain Sh1te. Amazon's cloud service is ok, I've haven't used it much, but it's well integrated to tne Android OS. The music is stored in Amazon's Cloud service, not on the device...so I can listen to the music on my Droid X, Fire (If I have one), my PC, or mac, or whatever computer I use to log into Amazon.com. That is infinitely more elegant that fraking iTunes' stupid authorization/Deauthorization crap.

5. Yes. Yes. YES!

6. yes. From Amazon's site: Audio 3.5 mm stereo audio jack, top-mounted stereo speakers. http://www.amazon.com/Kindle-Fire-Amazon...

I have three issues which prevent me from buying a Fire...and these aren't a Fire vs iPad...because I don't like the iPad. First is the lack of 3g. I like that my Kindle keyboard is 3g...meaning I can buy books where ever there is cell phone service and I can surf as well. Second is it's weight. By itself, the fire weighs a bit more than my Kindle Keyboard with leather cover /w Light! Third and last, the screen. since I have a Droid X and a Laptop, I don't need the features of the Fire, or iPad for that matter. The Laptop is to cumbersome to read books on and take anywhere and the Droid X's screen while big, is not really comfortable to read books on especially the glare...which the Fire will have. I like my Kindle keyboard's e'Ink technology.

If I had to choose between the Kindle Keyboard and Fire, keyboard all the way. But if I absolutely have to choose between a Fire and iPad, the Fire and Amazon will get my money.

How much would it cost to fix my Kindle Fire screen?

Now I do not have the answer, but, it’s most likely more than the Kindle Fire is worth. So, here’s what to do:Go to YouTube & search out a repair video on your type of Kindle Fire. Watch the video(s) as they will show you what’s involved in the repair that you are looking at.Price out a replacement screen on eBay. Also, price out a “dead” Kindle Fire (with an intact screen) on eBay.Price a “comparable” Kindle Fire on AMAZON_dot_com. (Do not “buy” until 16 July, if you are tempted, as there is a BBBIIIGGG sale coming on that date.)OK, assume $50 ~ $100 for labor to take that good screen off of a “dead” Kindle Fire & install it on your Kindle Fire. And, about $25 ~ $75 to install a simple replacement from eBay (subtracting the $25 for the un-needed dis-assembly of the dead unit). What is your estimated cost? Compare that with the “sale” prices on AMAZON with its Prime Day Sales. … You can make an informed decision then.Somehow, I suspect that it’s not economically feasible unless you do the labor. And, even then, it’s a close call, at best.Sorry for the bad news. I know where you are coming from as I have 5 Kindles & am extremely careful with them for that very reason. That & my experience repairing laptops & cell phones (owned by the family) makes me a bit of a pessimist.

Why did Amazon stop selling the Kindle Fire HDX? Why completely cede the high-end tablet market to Apple?

AMAZON’s approach was *never* to produce a high-end tablet. The Kindle Fire line was used as a vehicle to sell other stuff. The sales program was like this:(From What a collector discovered about Gillette's razor blade scam)Sell the razor at a low price & make the real money on the blades. So, AMAZON’s main goal was to relentlessly drive the price of the Kindle Fire tablets down because it was the media: eBooks; Music; Movies; and games where the real money was. AMAZON actually backed off of the high end down to the totally adequate spec level. You can see this in the historical charts on the models over time.Reference: Tablet Device Specifications - Custom TableThe HD 7 & HD 8.9s were the best built, quality-wise & the HDX the most powerful. After the HDX, there was a relentless drive to push the price down. The price dropped from $450 to ~$50 over a six year timeframe. In the process, the units went to WiFi only (no more cell option as it cost an extra $100 w/$25 per month for a data subscription), and settle on a set of specs that meant that while holding to the specs, the price of the source parts would quickly drop.Yes, it was an abandonment of the “high end” tablet arena. That wasn’t the goal. The goal was to dominate the “eReader & other Media Display” arena. In other words, just about give away the Razor & make the real money on the blades.//DISCLAIMER: I own Kindle Fire HD 7 & 8.9 as well as an HDX 7. I have an Original (1st gen) Kindle Fire docked. And, nearly 1,000 Kindle eBooks.

Do you have to have WIFI for all Kindles?

You dont have internet at home?

If you have. Then just install a WiFi router on your Internet connection to make that internet available wirelessly.

On Kindle Fire HD you basically need to download stuff. And for that purpose only the WiFi is required. If you have some place where you can download all these games and stuff, then you download stuff while you are there and you can play offline when at home. Or watch some downloaded movie or other stuff.

Here you would be able to find the latest version of Kindle Fire HD:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CU0N...

You can use it as offline device.

But if you are talking about running internet on Kindle Fire HD without having to install WiFi then the only other way is to get the 3G/4g version of Kindle Fire HDX, but that would cost you more.

Hope this helped!

How do I copy and paste images on the kindle fire?

Hi Madison:

With as "new" as the Kindle Fire and its Silk browser are, there are very few comprehensive Kindle Fire instruction resources or tutorials (the "full" Kindle users guide PDF doesn't even cover how to cut & paste text, much less images!). Amazon's Silk website only has one blog entry and no other resources! (As of today, Dec. 24, 2011.)

Much of what I've learned is by trial-and-error playing around with a Kindle Fire.

To start with, regular text cut-and-paste is started with the "long press" gesture (holding your finger on the desired text) until the cut-selection cursors appear.

A similar long-press gesture, when in the Silk web browser, on a photo or graphic image will open a grey selection dialog (similar to a PC browser right-click dialog box). But Silk doesn't include "Copy Image to Clipboard" as an option. You can only download the image as a file or copy its URL (web address), besides the non-copy options (e.g., View..., New Tab..., etc.).

Once it's downloaded as a file, I haven't played around with the QuickOffice app to see if an image could be copied into a document or email, other than as an attachment. (You could always cut & paste the URL link.)

hope this helps,
--Dennis C.

P.S.: BTW -- this Category is "Camcorders", and the Y!A auto-category suggestion probably selected this one since "images" was in your Question headline. But there are better Y!A Categories for this type of Question, just for future reference. --DC
