When I was a 14 year old girl, my father asked me if I would babysit the six daughters of his friend and his friend's wife while they joined my father and stepmother for an evening out. The girls ranged in age from an infant to nine years old. They were sweet, quiet girls, not given to making trouble, so I agreed.I had put the littlest ones to bed, and the older ones were settled watching TV when the 6-year-old invited me into her bedroom closet to play a game. I decided to go along and agreed to get in the closet. I was sitting on the floor at her direction; she joined me and shut the door.She proceeded to kiss me, and asked for oral sex, and offered to do it to me.I stopped the "game" immediately, and was so shocked and upset that when the evening ended, I said nothing. I was only 14 myself, and somehow I was afraid I'd be blamed for doing something wrong.Not long after that, on a subsequent visit, my father's friend followed me upstairs when I tried to use the restroom and molested me, putting his hands inside my underwear. I pushed him off and ran downstairs, and made sure I wasn't ever alone with him in his house again, but again, I said nothing.The first time my parents found out about my molestation was when I was in college and provided written testimony to a judge in an unrelated family court case between my divorced parents. My mother was devastated to learn what had happened during visitation with my father, but I assured her he hadn't known either. I still said nothing about the "game" in the closet initiated by a 6-year-old girl.I never said anything about it until I was in my 30s. A police detective had read my testimony written when I was at college in which I described my father's friend feeling me up when I was 14, and he phoned me at work to ask as part of his investigation if anything else had ever happened to me while in that house, and I told him about the "game."My father's friend had serially molested every one of his daughters all their lives, as well as his wife's younger sister. His oldest daughter finally reported him when she caught her father raping the littlest one. Turns out the girls' mother knew what was going on and never did anything to protect her daughters. My testimony over the phone about the "game" helped put him away for 40 years, and she got 20 for covering it up.I am so sorry I did not have the maturity at 14 to report it myself and save this family 15 more years of abuse.
