Is The Lapd Cadet Program Good

I have a written exam for a police cadet position, what should I study for?

Police entrance exams typically test a variety of skills.  Many variations of tests are available, but here are some things you might consider practicing:Observation and memoryYou'll be shown a photo and given xx minutes to study details about the photo.  At the end of the study time, you'll be presented with one to several questions about that photo. For instance, you might get three minutes to review this photo:After the time is up, questions might include:How many people are seen in this photo?Who is wearing a tan dress? What color is the scarf of the person walking left-to-right?What type of shopping may be going on?Reading and comprehensionYou'll have a certain amount of time to read a paragraph or two.  After reading the passage, you'll be asked questions about the passage.Example:***Officer Smith interviewed Sarah Wilson.  Wilson reported that she purchased what she believed to be a digital camera from a male in the parking lot of Best Buy.  Wilson says the male was driving a dark 4-door SUV, possibly a Ford Explorer, and offered her the digital camera for $100.  Wilson gave the male five (5) $20 bills in exchange for the digital camera.  The male drove off and Wilson opened the box, discovering that there was not a digital camera in the box.  Wilson showed Officer Smith the box, which contained a fist-sized rock. The male was described as white or possibly Hispanic male wearing a blue LA Dodgers baseball cap, a silver chain with a large medallion on it, and a grey sweatshirt with a "Hurley" design.  He had dark hair and dark eyes.Question 1:  What color was the vehicle the suspect was driving?Question 2:  How much did the victim pay for the digital camera?Question 3:  What kind of hat was the suspect wearing?***Grammar and spelling:You will be given several sentences and paragraphs.  You will have to be able to pick out words spelled incorrectly or sentences which have grammatical errors.Math:You will be asked to solve several math problems.  Most of these will be general mathematics, but some might get into basic algebra.Writing skills:You might be asked to write an essay, either by hand or on a computer.  This could be about your personal history, or it might just ask, "What is your favorite memory?"  There are many online resources for police entrance exams.  A simple google search for "police entrance exam" will provide many practice sites, hints, or tips for passing the test.

LAPD reserves program?

So she ran 1 and went to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and told them, "They have taken the Lord from the tomb, and we don't know where they put him." So Peter and the other disciple went out and came to the tomb. They both ran, but the other disciple ran faster than Peter and arrived at the tomb first; he bent down and saw the burial cloths there, but did not go in. When Simon Peter arrived after him, he went into the tomb and saw the burial cloths there, and the cloth that had covered his head, not with the burial cloths but rolled up in a separate place. Then the other disciple also went in, the one who had arrived at the tomb first, and he saw and believed.

LAPD,CHP, or LASD which one is better? ?

Better for what?
Each is different.
For each you need 60 semester college level hours from an accredited college to apply.
All are hard to get into.
LASD&LAPD have ongoing hiring. Look at the recruitment web sites for each department. They have salary and benefit information. LAPD even has a test you can take to see if it is likely you can make the cut.
LASD and LAPD do almost the same type of work except LASD covers a larger area much of which is more rural. LAPD is the 3rd largest department in the US and LASD is the 4th.
CHP mostly does traffic work.

Police Academy living?

From their web site:
Baltimore County Police Academy

The police academy is a 27-week academic, physical and practical training program, which introduces recruits to a career in law enforcement. It is a non-residential program located in Dundalk, Maryland.

The academy is paramilitary in nature and challenges recruits to develop self-discipline, perform under stressful situations, and focus on teamwork. After graduation from the Baltimore County Police Academy, you will be among the most highly trained officers in the country and part of a family of motivated and proud law enforcement officers.

Hours

Unless otherwise directed by the Commanding Officer, the working day for the recruits is 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Recruits may be required to work scheduled evenings or weekends as directed by their Commanding Officer.

The same is true for Baltimore City.

I can't decide on which military branch to join?

Hi, i am 17 and a senior in high school. I can't decide on which military branch to join. I was in Army JROTC and Navy sea cadet corps. I love the navy because i like the life at sea and in ports around the world. I like the marine corps A LOT but i really cant see myself a marine without having been in the navy first, they are part of the navy (technically), and i can't see myself on a ship without having been a sailor. And i like the brotherhood the marines have, their toughness and their reputation for being the toughest and few and the proud. However i would like to end up in the army, i know that sounds weird but ultimately i want all of the experiences of college, the navy, and the marine corps to help me be a better officer in the army. I want to be an infantry officer in the 75th ranger regiment or be a special forces officer.

So with all of that being said would this work: After i graduate high school i would turn 18, could i go to a 2-year technical college, then graduate with an associates degree, i would be 20 then join the navy for 2 years under the national call to service act, after my 2 year enlistment was up i would be 22, then i would join the marine corps as an infantryman (hopefully they give me 0311) for 4 years then i would be 26, then after that enlistment was up could i join the army reserve and go to a 4 year university and get a bachelors degree and enroll in Army ROTC and then after i graduate i would be 30, could i then be commissioned and go into special forces or could i go into infantry and join the rangers? And if that wouldn't work could someone help me figure out a plan that would?

Can I still become a police officer with a misdemeanor?

I am 21 years old and have always been very passionate on becoming an officer. I have been a Cadet(old explorer program), work a security job and going to get my bachelor's degree in 2 years. Unfortunately, I made a stupid mistake 3 weeks ago and got a solicitation of prostitution misdemeanor. I am very upset because I cannot see myself doing anything else but law enforcement. I made a huge and stupid mistake that night and got that on my record. I asked a police officer if I can still be hired and he said to just learn from it and to be completely honest when applying. I am so scared, I plan on applying in to 2 years. From this point to then I an going to do a lot of volunteer work to gel my case. What are my chances of being hired?
(I have no previous criminal history and have never done anything like that but that one night)
-Also, my lawyer said it is likely I can get it removed from my record but when applying for LAPD, they will find out.

A police department will disqualify applicants if they have smoked weed within 3 years. I smoked 2 years ago. Should I still apply?

You ask "A police department will disqualify applicants if they have smoked weed within 3 years. I smoked 2 years ago. Should I still apply?" What you should not do is lie. Don't go into it thinking you will get away with it. Smoking some weed a few years ago isn't a big deal, but any lie on your application is. Let me tell you a little story. A friend of mine wanted to be a police officer. Around here it's two years. He had smoked weed, almost two years ago, so he just said no. Then he got scheduled for his polygraph test. He knew he was going to lie on it, and that two year deadline was getting close. He knew the exact date. So he called out sick that morning. If you are sick you won't get good results, so you are supposed to call if you are sick. They rescheduled him, it's a normal thing, happens all the time, no problem. They rescheduled him to the day before two years. He didn't think he could get away with claiming to be sick again, and it was just one day, so he went in and lied. He failed the polygraph and was disqualified. Talking to the person who administered the test, he admitted that he knew why he didn't pass. The examiner told him that if he had admitted it and passed the test with a modified question, he would have been hired.I know plenty of people who have passed the polygraph for other jobs, with an admission that they smoked it at some point, myself included. "Other than the incident you have disclosed, have you used any illegal drugs within the past X years?" "no". "Ok we are good here." I had to sign a statement every year for the next several years saying I hadn't done it again and wasn't going to do it. Boring paperwork.
