A bad GOP candidate received 47% of the vote. You mention ALL young people being Democrats, yet Romney received 36% of the 18-24 vote. So no, it's not going to die out. Reality called and wants to know why it hasn't seen you in so long. You should visit.
How is modern Republicanism different from fascism?
The current GOP certainly hits all of the high points of fascism except for overt racism. Of course there are degrees of this kind of thinking. The current GOP could at best be classified as 'fascism light', though that's bad enough. I suspect that if the Bush Junta, without Bush of course, had prevailed in the last election and the congress remained dominated by the reactionaries of the neoconservative right we would certainly see a greater drift toward a more hard core fascism or at least a Mussolini style corporation-ism. We dodged the bullet on that, but don't kid yourself..these guys mean business; they're not giving up any time soon. Stay focused....no kiddin'!
