How can we make America's income distribution more equal?

I know that people don’t want to hear this but the real answer is higher taxes. There has to be higher taxes on the wealthy and a better social safety net for the poor. There has never been a modern developed country without redistribution from the top to the bottom. Without that distribution, countries are undeveloped and there is no real middle class to drive the economy.Capitalism is the best system that we humans have found for creating wealth. However, there are two problems with it. First people will damage the common space or cheat others to gain more wealth. The second is that wealth tends to pool at the top in a capitalist system. The only way to combat those two problems is with government. There has to be laws and regulations to keep everyone honest or to fine them, or put them in jail if they aren’t. There also has to be high taxes on the wealthy and redistribution in the form of a social safety net and a good infrastructure. When there are high taxes on the wealthy, it encourages them to reinvest the money quickly or to take less money out of the business for themselves. They do things to shelter their money and most of those things help the economy.Having a strong social safety net, takes the pressure off of workers. They aren’t as desperate because they know they can feed their children no matter what. That means they don’t have to take a crap job for no pay. They can force employers to pay higher because they have the freedom to say no.Higher taxes and redistribution are the only way to fix the current problem of income distribution in the US.

What are some good ways to create more employment opportunities?

Obviously by providing more job prospects. The government cannot pay heed to needs of each and every individual in the country. People have to take steps.Talking about the Indian society, the most common perception I've come across is “get a government job because private jobs only exist to exploit you and business…why? Go get a job”But what they do not understand is that the government is unable to employ each and every job aspirant in the country. The west in this case has always been appreciated because it has adopted the concepts of capitalism, entrepreneurship, the mantra of trying something new and “being your own boss”. This is the reason why even the Indian government is now encouraging entrepreneurship ventures. The only way is to open up and accept.

Do I have an option to sue my employer for creating a "hostile work environment"?

I am a supervisor for the marketing department at Sam's Club. The manager's rotate yearly and I am on my third rotation. While I have NEVER had a problem with anyone, associate or member, my new manager seems to be trying to get me fired or to quit. She is often irrational one minute and apologetic the next. She was told by her boss (the GM) to be aware of her condesending verbal attacks however they have become worse. Now I have been told to comply with my job description I have to have a vehicle everyday I work. She has given me 30 days from August 29 to have a vehicle or find another position. The thing is, my car died a month ago and while I own a van that I have access to on Mondays, my husband uses it for business. Not to mention, my job description does NOT say anything about having a vehicle, it only says that I need to have a valid driver license. She has yelled at me, backed me into a corner and embarrased me in front of my subordinates. I am at my wits end and now would rather go back into the current jobless market than work with her. I have anxiety type attacks when I have to go to work and cry so I don't physically attack her when she is upsetting me. I had to start taking medicationtwo months ago to help these problems but she is driving me to quit my job that I have personally excelled in. I have already discussed this with her boss and called the WalMart ethics hotline who told me to take it through the chain of command all the way to the CEO. I feel like the work environment is hostile and inhibits my ability to work productively if at all. Please give me some advice. Should I consult an attorney?

If everyone in the world had an equal education; what good would an education be?

Having an equal education does not imply an equal amount of ability. Many people will prosper in their education while others will not and many may drop out. This will create some sort of justification for offering one person a job over another. Also education isn't completely about relatively being better suited for a work environment than others. Education also provides people the knowledge and ability to increase the general output of society, whether through scientific or technological advancement or some other manner. If more people were educated, assuming that general standards would go up, more people would become more effective and useful to the overall society.

However if you are simply averaging what amount of education people get now and then putting all of your resources so everyone gets that exact amount it would not help at all. It would completely ruin the strategy of specialization among workers, which is a major part of our economic success. It would also mean many people would be overqualified for labour jobs, and the higher end jobs would have underqualified employees.
