Is The Saying About Falling Off Horses True

How many times do you have to fall off a horse before you are a true equestrian?

Like some people already mentioned... You are a true equestrian when you fall off and get right back on.
Yes I have heard that saying though I have heard it as "you aren't a true rider until you fall off twenty times"
Of course this shouldn't make someone go falling off a horse to become a true rider but to make you know that falling off happens to even the best of us! It is just the name of the game!! Sometimes we fall off because our horse did something we lost our balance, or we gave them the wrong cue, or even those bad times when there is Absolutely nothing you could do...
But True riders get back on every time! They don't let a fall scare them of their passions!

Where did the saying "When you fall off the horse, you have to get back on" originate from?

From a very clumsy cowboy.

Does falling off your horse make you a bad rider?

so I went for a ride today and my pony decided to instead of canter gallop infront and over take the one infront by galloping then bucking so i fell off :/ i got back on but on a diffrent horse .. the pony Is a 13hh new forest and a Nightmare he's small too and bouncy so really hard to stay in the saddle

I only got on another horse because my pony well the one I ride I's a physico on rides but good in the school .. and it was a quite bad fall too

so iv fallen off 3 times in a year so I think that's pretty good??
so do you think falling off makes you a bad rider

You have to fall off at least 10 times before you are a true rider?

I've heard that saying before... it was 7 times or 8 times or 10 (like you said) or something like that.
~
Not necessarily. I've been riding for more than 17 years, honey, and I've fallen off one million trillion times. My last fall was yesterday, when approaching a jump with an Appaloosa spirited gelding. Anyways, by this meaning, it means, that a true rider rides A LOT, so, if you ride a lot, you can fall off, depending how secure you are and blah blah blah.
~
On the other hand, good riders come from confidence, agility, common sense and good nature to their horses.
~
I also believe it's a saying to shut up children who think they are better rider's than others =3

I'm scared of falling off a horse while riding or jumping it?

Don't be scared, show the horse that you're the boss. They can feel your emotions. Chances are you'll ride a calm horse. I just stared riding lessons too. I cantered by my 4th lesson. Before my 1st lesson, I was nervous. But once I was on the horse, I forgot about all my problems. It's so much fun! Especially when you start to canter, feels like you're flying. :) It's okay to be scared because every rider will have falls eventually. You have lessons to try to prevent really serious falls. For example, you'll know what to do if you're horse rears. If you don't have lessons and you fall, it'll be really serious. I was told that if you do fall, curl up into a ball. Don't stick your hands out, you might break/sprain something. There's something called the "Emergency Dismount," look it up. If you do fall, try not to land of your neck. Anyways, don't worry. Your instructor will put you on a calm horse. Once you've become an intermediate, you'll ride a less calm horse. That way, it'll build your confidence to handling different horses.

Is it true that if you braid a horses main and it gets wet it will rot and fall out?

Hey so my boyfriends brother says that if you braid a horses main (in like show braids) that if it gets wet it will rot and fall out. I personally dont see how this can possibly be true or make any type of sense! I think its retarted ad have never heard of it before and out of all the years of rideing and working with horses i have never heard this or had a horse trainer say "oh take my horses braids oout because its going to rain today and i dont want them to rot and fall out" lol. if this is true i am sorry and will someone please explain to me why this is true?

I’ve heard the saying, “real bikers don’t fall off a motorcycle.” Do real bikers fall off a motorcycle?

Having spent 34+ years on two wheels I can tell you there are only two unbreakable, ironclad facts when it comes to riding a bike. If you ride along enough, these 2 things are going to happen. You're going to get caught in the rain and get wet. You're going to lay the bike over.As for #2, whether you drop the bike because you forgot to put your kickstand down, run into a patch of gravel or slick road, or any other half a dozen reasons why your bike does not remain in an upright or riding position, it's going to happen. Anybody that tells you otherwise is incorrect.I consider myself a pretty decent rider and will do anything in my power to avoid laying the bike over, falling over, wrecking it or whatever you want to call it but it's happened to me (still kicking fortunately) and it's going to happen to everybody else who decides to throw their leg over a bike and embrace the lifestyle. You significantly lower the risk of laying the bike over if you're riding a three wheeler but there have been times when people lose control of a three-wheeler and get thrown off. It's rare and you usually have to be doing something stupid to cause it but it does happen. So do your best to avoid it but realize that sooner or later it's going to happen. So good luck riding, welcome to the biker world and stay safe.
