Is The Star Walk App A Game Or Not A Game

Folklore: Is the 'year walk' tradition described in the iOS game 'Year Walk' a real Swedish cultural tradition, or was it made up for the purpose of the game?

It seems to be genuine, though the Swedish spelling is "årsgång". According to a fairly well-respected encyclopedia [1], one was supposed to, at the Christmas night or at the New Years Eve night, "fasting and in silence walk to three (or seven) churches around which he should walk three laps backwards" in order to learn about the next year. (I guess there were different versions of the tradition in different places.)According to an older encyclopedia [2] there were several possible nights to perform the ritual, but also that there were quite a number of rules surrounding the practice, such as not seeing fire during the day of the walk, and doing it seven years straight and have the possibility of getting the effect for permanent.[1] Nationalencyklopedin (subscription required to read the whole article)[2] Nordisk Familjebok

What would happen if during an NBA game, the ball bounced to you and you refused to return it?

They probably would just get another ball and security would walk you out for delay of game. Would not be too much a nuisance to them since they have 20 other game balls that they could use (Fun fact: The NBA changes the game ball every quarter.) instead it would be more of a issue for you since you paid for the seat you were in when you decided to keep the NBA’s basketball. The NBA has your money so they do not care that you got kicked out lol. Just be smart and dont do it. whoever is reading this and is thinking about keeping a game ball. Just dont.Hope this answers your question,Cheers!

Why doesn't Robert Downey Jr. have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame?

Stars have to go through an application process, meet screening criteria, and pay a sponsorship fee for that star:Excerpt - How Do Stars Get on the Hollywood Walk of Fame? ABC News: How does someone get a star? Is there an application process?Martinez:It’s a process. We accept applications beginning in April, and there’s a committee that meets once a year in June. There’s a chairman and five committee members and they’re all experts in their fields. We consider candidates in five categories: radio, recording, television, motion picture, and live theater/live performance. The criteria is longevity in the field of entertainment, nominations for awards, awards and charitable work. They have to have done charitable work.ABC News: Who’s eligible to nominate someone?Martinez: Anybody can nominate a celebrity with the permission of that celebrity. A fan club, a publicist, a relative, anybody.ABC News: And what does it cost?Martinez: There is a sponsorship fee involved — $30,000. If selected, the fee is paid by the sponsor about a month or so before the ceremony. The fee goes toward the maintenance of the star — they’re made of a thin marble. We’re dealing with a $4 million repair issue right now, the walk is in need of a facelift. So the fee goes toward that, the ceremony, the barricades, and half of the fee goes toward the Hollywood Historic Trust, which is in charge of maintaining the stars.ABC News: How many stars do you give out each year?Martinez: We get about 300 applications a year and they only select an average of 24 people, about 4 in each category. We want to do about two a month, but one year, we did 36.ABC News: So what about all these famous people that don’t have a star yet? Why aren’t they on the walk?Martinez: Like Julia Roberts and Denzel Washington? Julia isn’t interested. Denzel was selected many years ago and never set a date for the ceremony. Clint Eastwood is another one, Al Pacino is another one. Because of that, now we have to have a sign off. They have to sign off and say they’re in agreement with the nomination, and they have to do the ceremony within five years or they expire.
