Is The State Of Missouri

Is adultery illegal in the state of Missouri?

I have a friend going through a divorce. We met 19 months after the divorce was filed. She claims she was cheated on and has indisputable proof. Yet she claims that she is getting nothing out of the divorce. She states Missouri doesnt look at adultery and that she gets nothing. She states she is being forced to sell the home, not getting a dime from him, has to split all debts 50/50. I find this very hard to believe and am starting to believe she is not being honest about what really happened. Does anyone know anything about Missouri divorce laws as they pertain to adultery?

What is the most remote part of Missouri?

There are some places in the southern part of the state that contain a lot of state/federal land where there is only wilderness and no homes etc. There is also some land in the far northern corner of the state. I would suggest that you address this inquiry to the Missouri Conservation Department http://www.mdc.mo.gov

What is your review of Missouri (state)?

Missouri is the state of compromise.May 8, 1820 US Congress passed the resolution allowing the State of Main to enter the union slavery-free but, at the same time, it gave way to slaveholders of Missouri to institutionalize their profitable economic practices based on converting other humans into domesticated animals. The compromising nature of Missouri, which is reflected in both economics and politics of this state, may be explained by the geographical position of its territory right in the center of the United States of America. Consequentially, different and sometimes hostile political forces as well as economic tendencies are developing in this State simultaneously. Thanks to its geographical and social “centricity”, Missouri for the long time had been the bellwether of the US politics. Since early 1900th to 2008 Missouri's electorate had voted in the general election as the majority of the US population had. However, this habit was discontinued in 2008 and then, again, in 2012 when MO people voted against Barack Obama, overwhelmingly and enthusiastically. This lost of the political Oracle's status may be attributed to the general tendency in the United States demography according to which non-white population has became more politically prominent and the center of political gravity has accordingly shifted from central to the coastal regions of USA, specifically to California and New York areas.

In the state of Missouri, if given a 5 year prison sentence, how much time will the inmate actually serve?

Each state varies on the sentencing guidelines. Most say one-third of sentence to be eligible for parole. Thus you get your 1–3 2–6, bids. Some have the two - thirds then you have what is called zip bids. Straight time where 5 yrs is a straight 4 with one yr for good behavior. This was rare andreserved for violent offenders but if believe that guideline is no longer used.

Is Missouri considered a southern state?

No, but parts of it —- yes. As some have mentioned, Missouri was a “border state” at the time of the Civil War, and the split that occurred then was actually kind of natural. In parts of the state that are near Arkansas or Tennessee, you will still to this day hear a Southern drawl of sorts, you’ll see southern crops (cotton, or watermelons, for example) in the fields. I grew up (partially, anyway) in the Bootheel, that little part in the Southeast that sticks down below the major portion of the Missouri-Arkansas state line (more/less the Mason-Dixon if you’re west of the River), and when I moved up near St. Louis at 9 years of age the rest of the boys decided they had to beat my accent out of me. ;-) As a result, I no longer say “sody pop”, or even “soda” until I’ve determined where I think the person I’m talking to has his/her roots. :DSeriously, though … if someone from another part of Missouri hears a child from the Missouri Bootheel speak they wonder where they came from, and usually guess wrong by at least 100 miles or more (Mississippi and Texas are two guesses I heard a lot of back in the day).Southwestern Missouri also, historically, had people who were quite a lot like their northern Arkansas counterparts … at one time called “hillbillies” perhaps, with roots in the Ozark mountains, the Boston mountains and other assorted ranges in SW Missouri and NW Arkansas. However, if you go to far northern Missouri you have lots of people much like the ones in Ohio, Illinois, Iowa, and so on, with towns that look a lot like the ones in Ohio, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas and so on. It feels different, just as any state with much land area feels different (think for example of east Tennessee vs. west Tennessee, or even how different Southern California is from Northern California. And the two big cities (KC and STL) dominate the demographics and the attention of most of the rest of the country when they think of “Missouri”. If you go to either of those places you’ll find people from all over the place, and, hopefully, they’re all just trying to get along together.

Will the State of Missouri accept my out of state learner's permit, should I get pulled over?

All states accept licenses from other states, learner's permits included. If you were MOVING to a new state, you would have to change a permit from the new state within a certain time period... But nothing wrong with traveling through.

Edit: With all due respect, gary is incorrect. I was also incorrect apparently. Different states have different laws about accepting out of state learner's permits. And finding that information is a mess. You should call the Missouri department of revenue and talk to someone to get your answer. The number is 573-526-2407.

How close was Missouri to becoming a Confederate state?

Officially Missouri fought on both sides during the Civil War.Though it declared itself neutral in 1860, Missouri's Governor Clairborne Jackson had Confederate sympathies and attempted to seize the U.S. Arsenal in St. Louis with the Missouri State Guard commanded by Sterling Price.Union Colonel Nathaniel Lyon struck first and captured the gathering Missouri State Guard forces in St. Louis.Lyon then chased Jackson and Price into the Ozarks and captured Springfield in spite of losing both the Battle of Wilson's Creek and his life.Once in control of Springfield, a constitutional convention was convened that declared the governorship vacant and installed pro-Union Hamilton Rowan Gamble as governor. After retreating to Neosho, Governor Jackson and what was left of his government seceded but this was largely a formality since the Missouri State Guard had been driven from the state. Jackson controlled little territory in Missouri and eventually moved his government to Texas. In spite of the secession by Jackson's rump government, the Union recognized only the provisional Union government so Missouri avoided Reconstruction and readmission to the Union. In substance, Missouri favored the Union providing 110,000 troops to the Union versus 40,000 to the Confederacy.
