Is The Theory Proposed By The Greek Scientist Aristarchus Correct

When did Aristarchus of Samos propose his heliocentric model? Why wasn't it accepted at that time?

Prejudice mostly. It was an uphill battle to get students to listen, permits to congregate, sponsors to pay the food bills, and scribes to record your theses if you were a Thracian in Greece. Sort of like being a straight white guy at a feminist meeting.

Who is a polish scientist first to propose a sun centered slar system ? ?

300 BC - 210 BC - Aristarchus of Samos. Greek astronomer and mathematician. He is considered the first person to propose a scientific heliocentric model of the solar system, placing the Sun, not the Earth, at the center of the known universe. He correctly deduced the other planets in correct order from the Sun.

Copernicus firmly proved that the complicated geocentric view fails and that the Earth is a satellite orbiting the Sun

Aristarchus' Successes?

Aristarchus (I prefer the spelling Aristarchos) of Samos was one of the truly great ancient Greek astronomers. Today he is remembered mostly for being the first proponent of the heliocentric (Sun-centered) theory of the planets.

Aristarchos was the first astronomer to work out the approximate distance to the Moon (60 Earth radii, which is essentially correct), which he did by observing the radius of Earth's shadow on the Moon's surface during a lunar eclipse.

He also derived a distance to the Sun, of 19 times the Moon's distance, which he did by trying to measure the elongation of the Sun and Moon at the time of exact quadrature (i.e., exactly half moon). Since you can't actually determine the time of exact half moon by eye very well, some modern historians believe that the final result -- 19 times the Moon's distance -- was intended to be a lower limit only. In any event, from these observations, Aristarchos was able to work out that the Sun was much larger than the Earth, and was the first astronomer to do so. This may have influenced his heliocentric theory.

There is also some evidence that Aristarchos knew about the difference between the tropical year and the sideral year, and therefore was aware of precession of the equinoxes before Hipparchos.

Who was the first scientist/philosopher/thinker who advocated Heliocentric Universe theory?

Aristarchus of Samos sometime between 310 B.C. and 230 B.C.

"Aristarchus (Greek: Ἀρίσταρχος, Arístarchos; 310 BC – ca. 230 BC) was a Greek astronomer and mathematician, born on the island of Samos, in Greece. He was the first person to present an explicit argument for a heliocentric model of the solar system, placing the Sun, not the Earth, at the center of the known universe. He was influenced by the Pythagorean Philolaus of Croton, but, in contrast to Philolaus, he had both identified the central fire with the Sun, as well as putting other planets in correct order from the Sun. His astronomical ideas were rejected in favor of the geocentric theories of Aristotle and Ptolemy until they were successfully revived nearly 1800 years later by Copernicus and extensively developed and built upon by Johannes Kepler and Isaac Newton. The crater Aristarchus on the Moon is named in his honor."

Why was aristarchus's model rejected?

Rejection of the heliocentric view had nothing to do with religion and every thing to do with egotism. Ptolemy was able to sway public opinion, despite the empirical and observational data, away from the Heliocentric model to his geocentric model. He didn't care that his model was wrong, he devised a very convincing mathematical model that worked and competed with the Heliocentric view. He won the hearts and minds of the ancient Greeks and the Heliocentric fell into disbelief until Copernicus came along.

Who actually was the first one to put forward the heliocentric theory?

It is a commonplace knowledge that Nicolaus Copernicus, a Renaissance-era mathematician and astronomer from Poland formulated the heliocentric theory. But diving deep into the annals of history we come across Aristarchus of Samos, an Ionian greek astronomer and mathematician who proposed that sun and not earth was the center of the known universe around 3rd century BCE to 2nd century BCE.But he still wasn't the first, it was Yajnavalkya, an Indian Vedic sage who lived somewhere in modern day Bihar in India around 8th century BCE to 7th century BCE who first put forward the heliocentric theory. This knowledge was however lost owing mainly to ignorance and self righteousness of Aristotle and Ptolmey and constant interference and censorship of scientific knowledge by church to make us feel special (being at the centre of creation and favourites of creator is indeed flattering, however false) and promote their own agenda. You see, humanity has always been this pathetic and ignorant. We have worshipped and favored false idols throughout history - from Aristotle and Ptolmey over Yajnavalkya and Aristarchus to more modern Newton over Leibniz (period), Edison over Tesla and Steve Jobs over Tim Berners Lee.
