Is Their An Additive To Put In The Engine To Keep From Oil Getting In

What should I add to the engine to stop it burning oil?

In a very few cases, engines burn oil not because they are have worn out parts but because they need routine service. A clogged up pvc valve or breather cap can cause an engine to use oil, so check this sort of thing. But there is NOTHING you can put in a worn out engine that will stop it from burning oil, once it is burning a lot of oil.If an engine is burning only a little oil, it MIGHT help to add any one of several products sold for that purpose to cut back on the oil consumption FOR A WHILE, but such products are expensive, and oil is cheaper and better for the engine. Just keep an eye on the oil level, and keep it full up, and change it as directed in the manual, if it is a nicer, newer car. Any improvement will be temporary and very minor and the additive will cost more than the proper motor oil, so there is no point in using it.Such additives if put in the engine in EXCESSIVE QUANTITIES will sometimes stop an older engine from smoking long enough for an unscrupulous seller to get rid of the car. That’s about all and even that is questionable. If it’s an old car, and not worth much, you can extend the drain and change interval from three thousand miles to five or six, but be sure to keep changing the filter. The new oil you are adding will replenish the anti wear and anti corrosion additives, no problem. This will cover most of the cost of the extra oil, lol.I have known people driving old oil burning cars to quit changing the oil altogether, so long as they changed the filter occasionally, with no engine problems whatsoever, for five or six years.Older cars that use oil often run for years and years without any repairs being necessary, if you just keep them full of oil. A quart of oil every five hundred miles, or even every two hundred miles, is not that big a deal, compared to paying for an engine overhaul or trading cars.Putting a lot of money into the engine of an old car is usually a mistake, unless the car is a collectible car and appreciating in value. It’s usually more economical to just sell the car and buy a newer one.My old pickup truck uses a quart every two to four hundred miles, depending on how I am driving it. It has been using this much for the last twenty or thirty thousand miles, and it will probably run another twenty or thirty thousand, no problem, by which time it will have rusted away anyway. It will be forty years old by then.

Oil additives to protect an engine that leaks gas into the oil?

I bought a beat up 4x4 nissan pickup with the VG30I 3.0 v6 engine for hunting and offroading. Truck runs great, but ive noticed that the dipstick smells like gas, which indicates gas is seeping into the oil. The main probable causes are leaking fuel injectors, which are $290 EACH for some reason or the fuel pressure regulator, which is $150. I dont want to invest this much money on it, so i just want to protect the engine from wear and tear from mixed oil. Is there a good thick additive i can add for viscocity? or should i put in thicker oil like 40W?

My dad accidently put oil additive into the gas thank help!!!?

If this were a newer car, it may affect the oxy sensor, but on that van, there will be no ill effects. Just fill the gas tank to dilute it and you'll be fine.

I once dumped 5 gallons of gas mixed with 2 stroke engine oil into my car when I was stranded out in the desert. The car still runs like new.

Is it a good or bad idea to use oil leak additives?

Lucas Oil Is the best for oil leaks, I wouldn't use anything else.

What is a good additive for worn piston rings?

As you can tell my piston rings are worn and I have blue smoke going everywhere. I just switched out the oil and went with a thicker weight and put in some bardahl stop leak additive but after a few start ups the car is still smoking. I was wondering if there was a specific amount of mileage that is needed in order for the additive to "flow" through the engine to temporarily stop the leak or if there was another brand of additive that's better or if additives just don't work. I realize that eventually ill have to rebuild the engine but I'm just trying to buy some time here. Thanks.
