Is There A Difference Than A Punk Rocker And Someone Who Just Wears All Black And Chains

Whats the difference between Emo, Punk, and Gothic people?

Well, as many have previously stated, these are social groups and are independent from religion. You can be an emo catholic, or an emo jew. I know punks that are atheists and punks that are christians. I know a wiccan goth, I also know a catholic goth. rca_d_2nd is an idiot. Being goth does not mean hating G-d. Being goth does not mean worshipping satan. MORON. You are so ignorant!

Have you seen a real punk? The old school punks dressed like skinheads. Tight jeans, t-shirts, boots, and braces (suspenders for you Americans). Punks were very anti-establishment. Many came from blue-collar working class backgrounds. Their music was about the inequalities of society. They were rough, they were angry, they were often drunk and rowdy. Over time punk fashion evolved to include spikes, chains, mohawks, leather, plaid, and others, it became more flamboyant. Then it died. Real punk has died, the rubbish that the corporations pass off as punk is complete cr@p. The music still exists, but the bands that have taken over the name have lost touch with the true meaning of the movement.

Goth has some shared history with punk. Many of the early artists that are now considered goth had their origins in punk music. Joy Division and Alien Sex Fiend are the most poignant examples. Early gothic fashion resembled the fashion of mods, which some claim was an offshoot of punk. Of course gothic fashion also evolved. To this day, in goth clubs, you can still find an oldschool punk or two hanging out with his/her more gothically inclined friends.

Emos...well I know a few, but I know nothing of its origins. Yes, emos can have non-emo friends, and non-emos can (sometimes) put up with emos long enough to not walk away shaking one's head in dismay. But for the most party their music is not to my taste, although some bands do have a rather interesting take on production. The melodies are often at odds with the lyrics. They do not complement each other. An upbeat and almost sing-songy melody accompanying sad self-pitying lyrics is most incongruous. Their style of dress is distasteful to me, but it's how they dress, and they're not forcing me to wear it, so in the end, I don't really care.

There are no set rules as to who one can associate with. An emo can have a punk friend or a goth friend or one of each. It doesn't matter.

What is the difference between scene/goth/emo/goth/punk?

People call me well all of those and I'm so confused...I get theyre labels but aren't they all kind of different?

Yeah, I listen to a bunch of bands (not ONLY one genre) like: My Chemical Romance, Avenged Sevenfold, Green Day, Black Veil Brides, Pierce The Veil, Sleeping With Sirens, Metallica, Bring Me The Horizon, Nirvana and All Time Low. But that does NOT make me one of those so-called labels, does it? :L

I naturally have dead straight black hair and I've had bangs+layers in my hair for quite a long time. Yeah, I shop at Hot Topic quite a bit (online because there are no Hot Topics in my area) but that's not the only thing I wear. I shop at loads of stores, from Hot Topic to Forever 21 to Aero to New Look and I guess I have a style going on here because I LOVE skulls, pastel colours and spikes. But me liking those can't exactly make me scene/goth/emo/goth/punk?

I usually dress in black to be honest and wear leggings/skinny jeans with a t-shirt+lots of bracelets and sometimes I even wear headbands with bows on it. I have a side fringe and layered hair which I never straighten because it's already straight. My make up, honestly, I barely wear any. If I do, usually a bit of compact powder covering up the pimples/spots on my face and I put black eyeliner on my waterline, upperline and if I'm bothered, I shape myself a cat eye.

People ask me whether I'm goth ._. but the thing is I'm actually really friendly and NEVER diss people's taste (unless they start dissing mine and then I go all angry at them). I only have two piercings on both my ears (and I'm planning to get a smiley piercing when I'm older) but I'm only 14...I'm not a wannabe over here, I just love skulls and honestly, I can't change that. I might look back and cringe at my photos at 14 but for the time being, I like my style.

Can somebody just tell me the difference between scene/goth/emo/goth/punk? Honestly, am I considered one of those labels? 10 POINTS FOR BEST ANSWER OKAI

Difference between scene, goth, rave, punk, pop princess, and emo?

scene: Started when I was in 8th grade. To me seemed like wannabe goths, or bat-babies.
goth: a frame of mind, not dress (necessarily) you can dress 'normal' and be goth, or wear all black and not be. and there are so many different types of goth. like diva, victorian, techno/cyber, industrial, intellectual, flashy...etc
rave: ppl who like X
punk: no such thing anymore. hit right b4 goth movement in the 60-70s; see sex pistols
pop princess: think avril and katy
emo; just means EMOtional. Most emo kids nowadays are scene kid/batbabies
hippies: dirty ppl who are wayyyy to into the green thing.
hipsters; ppl who are always on the cutting edge of cool. or like to think they are anyway.

Why are Some people Scared of Punk rockers and Goths?

i guess people tend to fear what they don`t understand...
