Is There A Digital Copy For This Movie

How much Hard Drive space do most Movie Digital Copies take?

The Digital Copies are low-res versions of the standard DVD or BluRay, mainly designed for portable devices (iPod/iPhone, PSP, etc). Depending on the studio that released the movie, there might be a single Digital Copy or up to three. The files range anywhere in size from 400-600MB for the extremely low-res Windows Media Portable version up to 1-1.5GB for the higher res files for iPods and the like.

So no, it's not going to take all 14 gigs, nor will it be anywhere close to 40. There are very few BR discs out that come anywhere close to 40gig, even at 1920x1080 resolution.

If you don't intend on using it on a portable device or watching it on your computer (which I'll assume you don't plan to do since you own the BR and can watch it on your HD set), there is really no need to use the Digital Copy.

Can you download a movie digital copy to the xbox 360 hard drive and if so how?

How do I legally make a digital copy of a DVD?

A DVD is video, so you can't force somebody to let you make a copy.  You would either need to contact whoever owns the rights to the DVD to negotiate a license, or you could do it anyway if you want to argue a "fair use" defense.  Arguing fair use is very tricky, as it often isn't clear what constitutes a "fair use."  So even if you have a good argument, you could be taken to court, and you could lose.  It's probably not worth the risk.If you'd like a more in-depth discussion on how it's done or other possibilities, such as an implied license, you should speak with a lawyer.  You can find try to find a good local copyright lawyer online.  I personally offer free consultations, and you can learn more about my practice at my website, William Robles, Esq. Whats the difference between a digital copy and dvd movie?

Digital copy provides consumers who purchase a film on DVD or Blu-ray Disc with an additional, nonphysical, digital copy of the movie for devices capable of operating with a file in contrast to a DVD.
Digital copy files based on existing files include only one audio track and no subtitles, however, the DVD itself may have multiple audio tracks and multiple subtitles.

Can I play a digital copy of my blu ray movie on a regular dvd player?

Rarely. Sometimes the digital copy is in DVD format but usually the disc is designed to be put into a PC. The video can then be downloaded from the disc and played back from the hard drive or it can be re-encoded (if not already MPEG-2) and burned to a DVD for playback on a DVD player compatible with writeable DVD formats.

IRT IQ - MKV is a container format, not a codec. Blu-ray movies are generally MPEG-4 AVC-HD, VC-1 or, in some cases, MPEG-2.
