Help! The hairstylist cut my hair too short!?
My hair used to be very long (to my waist) and I've decided to get a haircut for a change. So I went to Haircuttery (sucks btw) and this lady cut my hair a little too short than the pictures I showed her. She didn't even cut it right! She just grabbed a handful of hair and chopped it off with scissors when you're supposed divide it layer by layer. And it wasn't even..EVEN! Me, being nice, didn't say anything because I thought that she was going to fix it (she was a really nice lady btw). So I just ended up going to an freelanced guy who my cuz recommended. I asked for a thinning and he chopped it off even more! Now my head looks like 1 of those precious moment kids but flipped. I hate it. So here's my questions: 1. What should I have done? 2. Anyone recommend a good hairstylist in Chicago-southside? 3. What can I do with my hair now? Actually, it kind of looks exactly like the avatar.

Worst haircut? It involved these: the Leatherman Micra scissorsI was in the Maine woods about halfway done with the Appalachian Trail. I went weeks without washing. My hair was disgusting. No, disgusting doesn’t cover it, I need a new word. My hair was turning into bacon. When I removed my pony-tail holder, it stayed in a pony tail formation. So you can guess what happened next. During one of my food breaks I got the bright idea to cut my hair off, all off. So I started, right in front, no turning back without ending up with a mullet.What I did not anticipate, however was how damn long it would take. With short, blunt scissors. I was hacking for about an hour when I had half of my head done. I looked like I had been attacked by a rabid squirrel.And it was just at this moment when another hiker came along. Him: Hi! Isn’t it great out here! I love the… are you cutting your hair?Me: Yes. Trying to.Him: Are you using scissors or are you ripping it out? It looks like you’ve been ripping it out.Me: I have scissors, but I’m considering switching to my knife because they are taking too long.Him: So you are just leaving the hair there? On the ground?Me: Um, I hadn’t thought about it…but I wasn’t planning on bringing it with me, noHim: You know it doesn’t biodegrade.Me: No, I didn’t know that. Well maybe I’ll burn it.Him: That is stupid, have you ever smelled burned hair? Are you staying at the next campsite?Me: Yes, was planning on it.Him: Me too. Don’t stay there if you’re going to burn your hair. I don’t want to be around that.Me: Ok, well maybe I’ll leave it here with a sign “free hair, good for nests.”Him: Ok fine. Aren’t you cold? You’re going to catch cold.To keep hair off my clothes, of course I took my shirt off.Me: Yes. Stop talking to me so I can finish cutting my hair and put my clothes back on. He left. I finished. I had a small hand mirror and checked out my work. Short, wacked hair plus the massive weight loss from hiking...I’m trying desperately to describe the horror that looked back at me without offending thousands of people. Use your imagination.But then I got used to it, and like most things on the trail it was about utility; reducing weight and going faster. And it’s growing out, slowly. Almost back to where it was before. And for some reason, a much darker brown which is cool.What did I learn? I look like my mother. I’m cool with that. Maybe 10 years from now I’ll do it again.This is me, 10 days after the event.

I wanna be a hairstylist, do hair(styling+cutting) as my hobby but not enough old.what should I do first?
I say finish high school (it's usually required). If you want a job with it, you need to go to a beauty school and get a license in Cosmetology. You CAN'T work anywhere legally (out of your house, salon, etc!) without one. You can take the class, and just do it as a hobby. Or just skip it and do it as a hobby. Just don't expect money. Oh, and if you go to school for it, you can't just do hair. :) You become a Cosmetologist and do everything else as well.

Nice hairstyles for school ( no ponytail )?
Half-up and down (either comb your hair back and leave down half or just take two sections from the side of your face and tie it back). A braid (french, dutch) Leave it down. Buns (top knots, messy buns, sock buns, a mixture of all) Pigtails (high, low, though it may look a little childish) Boxer braids (where you part your hair into two sections and french braid or dutch braid them down into ponytails) There are lots more. Look at youtube for more ideas; they usually have a lot of tutorials. Hope this helped :)
