Is There A Online College Where I Can Get A Ged And Take College Courses At The Same Time

Does anyone offer a legit online GED or High School Diploma course?

The other responders are right on about the GED. You should have local sources to help you get your GED. Check the high school, community college, state employment office, family center , public library etc. for help. You can get a lot of information about GED online, plus you can get GED practice tests and study guides. If you are a good student, use the study manuals and sign up for a GED test when you are ready. There are five sections of the test,. You do not have to take all five at the same time. So maybe you could prepare for reading and written language one month, Then focus on science and math for the next testing session, finish up with social studies. You can take the tests in any order. You can get dvds or manuals for reasonable prices at e-Bay or Amazon etc.

As to the high school diploma, each state, and possibly ech school district has its own policy. In general you can get a diploma up to age 21, but that could be different where you are located. So, ask your local school distrcit when you talk to a counselor about the possibility of getting a GED. Many districts now have alternative schools with online classes and a set currciulum. Our local alternative school requres that you attend one two hour class at the school once a week between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. Everything else is done on line. The schedule is great for people who have families or who are working. Our state has an on line home school option which even provides you with the computer on which to take the classes. Check out your state education office to see what it offers. Also, some of our high schools and community colleges offer credit for classes taken at the community college ( you can get both high school and college credit at the same time.) We also have,in a nearby town, an alternative school located in the mall. It has both on line classes and a teacher available to help as needed.

If you type in online high school programs into your browser you may find what you need. PLEASE make sure that you double check their credentials to make sure the diploma will be accepted by employers and college. Some on line places say they are accredited, but double check that accredidation with your state educational department.

Three cheers for you for wanting to continue your education. Don't let people discourage you.

Can you take college courses without a high school diploma or a GED?

Not normally. You can if you are a currently enrolled high school student through the concurrent enrollment program. Some community colleges have a program where you can finish your high school diploma and associate’s degree at the same time, but you said you don’t want to pursue a degree. You can audit a course but you won’t get credit if you want to pursue a degree later. You can see if your community college has continuing education classes. These are non-credit classes that people take just out of interest. Usually they are things like painting, drawing, creative writing, photography, etc. You can usually take these without having a diploma or GED. If you’re looking for growth though, why not just take GED classes and get your GED?

Can I get accepted into a college to study computers and business without having a high school diploma or GED?

I agree with Tom StaglianoTechnically, there are always for-profit companies that will take your money and not offer much real rate of return. However, a GED, then community college is a great bet to go with long-term payoff.Even though many tests, including the GED, can seem like an arbitrary hurdle to get over (with no real relation to real-world knowledge and skills), I know the ACE who makes the GED works very hard to make sure that a lot of common knowledge and experience can be gained from it.So, studying literature, math, science, and social studies that the GED will test gives a lot of excellent knowledge, functional skills, etc. that will help you navigate through life’s challenges well.Community college is great because state government’s are well-funded and deliberately plan these colleges for basic skills that people do not teach elsewhere. I feel that it is a great place to start. Even I, an Ivy League graduate, still take community college courses because there is so much to offer that even a place such as Harvard or my alma mater (Brown) cannot!

Does the army accept 15 online college credits from a accredited community college?

As long as they're 100 level we will accept online classes. For the Army, the difference between online classes and physical classes is the fact that you can enlist while currently enrolled in a physical college (assuming your ship date is after your final class and you don't fail a class) but you have to wait until you are already finished with 15 semester hours before you can enlist with online classes.

ADDED: We were given authorization through a USAREC message (which aren't released directly to civilians or even other Soldiers who aren't working in Accessions Command) to accept online classes for enlistment purposes late last year. The message said as long as they're accredited, 100 level courses we can accept them. If someone told you we don't accept them their information is outdated because our battalion education specialist verified we can accept them.

Can you take ged classes and join the army at the same time ?

You can not enlist until you have that GED.
It will be harder to enlist with a GED by itself. Each service limits the amount of GED holders that can enlist per year. You also have higher ASVAB testing requirements.

If you get at least 15 100-level college credits in addition to your GED, you will be considered the same as a high school diploma holder, and it will make things easier for ya.

If we weren't in a draw down period (reducing the number of Servicemembers in the Military), I'd say you could talk to a recruiter about joining the Delayed Entry Program while you work on your things. But since we are trying to lower the numbers in the ranks, that option will almost without a doubt be denied to you.

Do you need your GED in order to take online classes (Zoology)?

Put it this way, any school that will accept you without a GED or high school diploma probably isn't one you want a degree from.

Basically a degree, a high school diploma, or a GED is a piece of paper that states you--at one time--was able to demonstrate some particular set of knowledge. The only real value of that piece of paper is if the people behind it are believable.

Legitimate colleges usually want some credible expectation that you are able to adapt to college-level classes and the general currency of that credibility is a high school diploma, GED, and/or a variety of aptitude tests.

So, good luck!

CAn you get your ged or high school diploma online?

The answer is a bit complicated. First, you cannot get a real GED online. All online GED sites are scams. To get a GED you must register and take the test at a real GED testing center, so skip the online stuff on that one. The question about the diploma has a different answer. There are some websites which offer an online diploma, and you will find that students are very happy with their online experience until they want to go to a college or get a job. Then suddenly the situation changes. Colleges and employers know that online education is not the same experience which students get in a real "brick and mortar" school. You will have a diploma to hang on the wall, but it will be worthless. Your application for admission into college or for a job will go right to the bottom of the stack, and there it will stay. If you really don't care much about your future, online is fine. But if you expect someday to attend a college or get a good job, then it is probably better to go the right way, attend high school, and get a real diploma which will be accepted and respected.

Joining the military with a GED or getting 15 college credits?

How is getting 15 college credits a "waste of time and money" when you will end up needing those credits eventually if you truly plan on going to college after military service?

The way the military sees it, if you couldn't finish high school, then what are the chances that you will (or won't) make it through Basic and AIT, or even your contractual obligation? That you consider it such a waste tells me that you already have the wrong attitude for the military, and may end up washing out or finding ways to get out before your contract is up.
