I don't try to restrict any 2-year old onto Nexus 7.I just don't give any smartphones anymore after the first time my son tried to play a simple game on computer. Man, those hysteria cases even half a year later asking and asking for it again .. no. Just no. No computers, no smartphones anymore. Just a couple cartoons on TV and sometimes an educational clip on my phone, me holding it - cars being made in factory; various animals and their life; big harvesters gathering crops .. no glowing handheld screens in their hands. Sorry, I just don't try to pretend I can control kid’s brain. That’s impossible for me.

Is Kindle Fire a good tablet?
No. I would only recommend Kindle Fire to Amazon Prime subscribers (costs $100/yr) or people who need very good parental control software built-in. Some problems with Kindle Fire tablets... 1. They cannot use the main Android app store (Google Play) and do not have Google Services which many apps from the Google Play store need since it is part of standard Android. They can only get apps from the Amazon Apps store (and even many apps in the Amazon app store only work on real Android, not on Kindle Fire). You will not find apps that compete with Amazon (like Nook reader, and many music/video apps) cannot be found for Kindle Fire. Many games/apps in the Amazon App store are also not up to the same version as what's available on Google Play. And many Amazon App store apps for Kindle Fire don't seem to work on the latest Fires, based on the comments. 2. Amazon makes it harder to put your own music on the Kindle Fire. You cannot just copy MP3 files to your tablet like you can with normal Android tablets - they won't play on Kindle Fire. You have to "import" your MP3's via Amazon's music cloud, and if you import more than 250 songs, you have to pay Amazon $24.95/yr Buy a standard Android tablet that has the Google Play store. You can probably get good deals right now on Nexus 7 2013. It's what I use. If you want an SD card slot, instead look at the Samsung Android tablets (most fo them have an SD card slot).
