Is it okay to wear an army jacket?

This is one of those strange areas, like the US Flag Code, where rules exist but cannot be enforced unless they're violated by actual government employees because it falls under freedom of speech and expression.[1]  The Army uniform regs (AR 670-1) have specific rules about who can wear what and how, and it includes rules for wear by veterans and civilians, so if you feel like following those rules you can.[2]  If not you can knock yourself out, as long as you aren't committing fraud.I wear my Army jacket all the time. I took the rank, left side unit patch and the American flag off of it since I'm no longer in the Army, but it still has everything else on it, including badges which I legitimately earned. I'm technically not supposed to, I think, but nobody cares, or if they do I don't care. I also gave my dad one of my jackets and a few of my BDU tops that never fit me properly. They still have his (my) name tape and U.S. Army on them (no rank, decorations or awards), and he wears them proudly even though he was never in the Army. The thing is, I'm talking about the old M-65 jacket in woodland camo, anyway, so I don't really think anybody would care.So no, as a veteran I am not offended by people wearing military clothes. If I see you wearing uniform parts that look like they might have been issued and not just bought at a surplus store, I'll probably ask you about your service, but just as a conversation starter. If you were never in the military and tell the truth, no problem. If you were never in the military and you lie about it, I'll feel sorry for you because that's pretty pathetic, but I still won't be offended. The only time I get slightly offended is when somebody did serve in the military and lies about what capacity they served in, like a mechanic claiming to have been a SEAL or whatever. Those people ought to know better. As for stolen valor; that only applies to use of "particular military decorations and awards with the intention of obtaining money, property, or other tangible benefit from convincing someone that he or she rightfully did receive that award."[3]  Nothing about jackets. Should we give money to beggars?

Thanks for asking Sravani,NO, we should not give money to healthy street beggars. My dad taught me this with a live demonstration in 2012.I was in my final year engineering. One random day, we (me and dad) went out to get some groceries.Grocery store was nearby so we didn’t take any vehicle. Another reason being, we loved those walk and talk chit chats. So, we got what we wanted and started marching back home. We then noticed a street beggar asking money to every person passing by . His clothes were bad but he was looking healthy with two legs, two hands and two eyes and perfectly functioning ears.I asked my dad, “shall we give him something?”.Dad replied, “Never give money to beggars who can work hard and earn their bread.”Before I asked him “why?”, he went to the beggar and gave him Rs 50 and said, “Have a good meal”. (Back then, Rs 50 was good enough to get a full meal from a decent canteen/mess.)That beggar gave some blessings in return. My dad came to me and said, “Let’s go.”I asked my dad, “Why did you give him money?” .Dad said, “If I said, he’ll waste that money for buying booze, you won’t believe me. Now let’s wait there (next street). Just see what happens.”We waited for 5 minutes in the nearby street. That beggar made his move. Counted his money and went to a wine shop.Dad then said,“If you notice any healthy beggar asking you for money, don’t give him money.”“If you really feel any beggar is helpless like handicapped or old, offer him/her a meal or give them clothes or medicines”“If you find someone saying, I lost my wallet, I need to go to X place, I need some money, offer him a bus ticket. Then you’ll notice he’s a fraud.”However, if you find a known(humble) person in trouble. Don’t think twice to help him out. After helping him out, don’t expect anything in return.
