I’m confused. Do women want to be seen as sexually active and promiscuous, or not? Why do women seem to want it both ways?
Women are the providers of female sexuality, which is very much more in demand than male sexuality.Women want to be in control of that sexuality - Its up to the woman whether she gives it away, trades it for money, trades it for emotional or child-rearing support or withholds it from anyone.In an open market situation, with so many players, it’s hard to control the value of this. Some women feel their sexuality is extremely valuable and are very particular about when and where it is expressed - the demure ones.Others don’t care much - the so called ‘sluts’.A woman who doesn’t want to trade her sexuality at a low price, still needs to advertise that it exists. Dressing up is the easiest way to indicate sexual availability. On the other hand sexuality of a woman’s appearance itself is a commodity that men consider a valuable thing - think about the number of softcore porn magazines and websites that exist.So just by advertising, you’re giving some of the product away.This conflict of valuation is what causes the dichotomy among various groups of women - It is not necessarily a completely free market, there is cartelization, monopoly, theft, social control and so on.
