Is There A Technology That Can Measure The Heartbeat Of A Person Just By The Sound He Makes With

9 week ultrasound measured 6 w/ faint heartbeat (reposted)?

Hi, yesterday i had my first ultrasound (trans vaginal) my lmp is 12/5/09 which makes me 8w 6d. I was using a bbt and opk tracker so I am sure my ovulation date was day 14. Therefore just by dating I really should be close to 8w 6d. The ultrasound tech and the doctor both said the measurement was around 6 weeks and there was a faint heartbeat.

The doctor told me to prepare myself for a non viable pregnancy. I am scheduled to go back in 5 days for another ultrasound to see if there is any change.

Please share any stories you have where the circumstances were similar. What happened did your baby make it? I just don't understand why I have a three week difference and a very faint heartbeat.

thanks

Vaginal ultrasound... heartbeat?

What you heard was the blood flow to your ovaries. This is routinely checked on pelvic ultrasounds and would sound like a heart beat. When we check the heart beat of a baby, we use a special type of technology that does not create a sound because it is less intense on the baby.

Can't hear heartbeat while taking blood pressure?

When I practice using the stethoscope and sphygmomanometer, I for some reason can't hear the patient's heartbeat. I can just hear sounds that the sensitive equipment makes. When someone else tries to get their bloodpresure, they can hear that same person, so I'm pretty sure it's just me. :(

Do you have any suggestions on what I could improve, do you think you know what I'm doing wrong?

How loud is a heartbeat?

a weak human heartbeat can sound at as low as 1 to 45 decibels

Why wouldnt ultrasound tech show screen or let us hear the heartbeat?

I went in for an ultrasound at what I thought was 7 1/2 weeks. The ultrasound tech was somewhat decent considering she had a cold and was about 6 months pregnant herself. I am scared to death though because my biggest worry is if there is a heartbeat and the woman never turned the screen towards me and never played us a heartbeat. She had me hold my breath twice while she was "finding" the heartbeat but never told me if she found one. At the end she printed up two pictures and said congratulations you are actually 8 weeks and 2 days due september 22. This confused me because when I asked her if she found a heart beat and what the scanner was saying the bpms were she said the doctor would have to tell me. I wont be able to get a hold of my doctor until monday and its now friday afternoon. What the hell is going on? Would she have congratulated us and given a due date just to avoid further questions and keep me calm until the doctor can be contacted. Why wouldnt she let us see or hear the heartbeat?

How many times does an average heart beat in a minute?

There is actually no such an average heart beat rate, and it does not make any sense to have such a rate. What makes more sense is heart rate variability, which is a key measurement of how well the heart is working.

Which sensor used to measure blood pressure and pulse rate?

Not only sensors, rather a hi-tech instruments [equipped with smart sensors and transducers] are used for blood pressure measurements. Blood pressure, most popularly used in non invasive methods is Sphygnomanometer, but the measurement is full of human error or parallax error. Instrumentation also depends upon- either the measurements should be invasive or non invasive, disposal or non disposal. In both invasive or non invasive types, sensors just senses the flow of blood or rather a knocking sound (called as korotkoff sound). This signal is processed by microprocessor whose output goes to a) either a digital screen of 7 segment display, or b) to any x-y plotters screen. From the first and threshold knocking sound of blood flow, sensor can measure the systolic, diastolic or even a mean arterial pressure.By coding the value of 60 sec to counters in micro-controller, we can get the pulse rate of flow. Pulse rate are also measured with magnetic type pick up sensors [or tacho type] that are generally worn like in wrist or finger like clip tong. The software and interface of these instruments are sold separately with a technical manual and data sheets. For example see Vernier Sensor or AMSYS blood sensor.Doctors too devote a large time on understanding the working of these instruments. For that purpose only a separate branch- Bio medical Instrumentation works like bridge between the Medical fields and engineering fields. Generally a skilled operator are deployed to analyze the output of sensors instruments. Some instruments are so smartly equipped with telemetry system that it directly sends the signal to doctors chambers. Doctors remotely can analyze the situation of Patients.
