Double Deluxe comes with a horrible DRM called Securom, which you might have heard of. Often DVD drives can't read discs with Securom installed. The disk appears as blank media. I think this is your problem. Your choices: Get a newer DVD drive (expensive) and also no guarantee you will not have the same problem. Take the game back again, demand a full refund and write a nasty letter to EA telling them their DRM sucks Use a no-cd/dvd crack to run your game. Sims 2 Double Deluxe .. can't play without CD?
Well I lost the CD, but I have all the proper installed files and everything. I just can't play the game without the CD. I tried downloaing a crack from gamecodeworld.com or whatever and it didn't work!! I used WinRAR and everything an replaced the code in the game directory. Is there a valid no-cd game patch? Or is there a another option?

How do you install The Sims 2 (Double Deluxe) without the CD?
I have the CD but my laptop doesn't have a place where I can enter a CD. I opened the game CD on another computer, copied and pasted all the files from that CD to my laptop. I tried clicking "AutoRun" to start the installation process on my laptop but it says it needs a CD to run or install. :(
