If it's not running iOS 7 or above then DFU Restore.Else, try to find a hacker to crack the Apple ID Details :)P.S: Think before trying to keep/sell the device. Someone could have irreplacable memories on there etc. If there is no phone number etc then I would be inclined to give Apple a call since they may be able to contact the owner.

I found ipod touch 4g outside on the playground. and i was gonna keep it, so i took it home and restored it and changed the passcode, and made a itunes account and linked it and i was wondering if the person who lost it track me if i restored it already and changed everything? btw i didnt steal it i found it at a park in a community park, and i have no clue whos it is and my mother agreed with me, if i turn it in then someone else could take it. so i kept it and i am keeping it as mine, well can i get tracked or traced? NO RUDE COMMENTS CALLING ME A THIEF OR ANYTHING BECAUSE I FOUND IT, I DIDNT STEAL IT, IT WAS UNDER THE SLIDE AND I PICKED IT UP , I DIDNT STEAL IT FROM ANYONE! CAN I GET TRACED?

Yesterday, my iPod (120 GB Classic) was stolen. I have gone to the police, who haven't given much interest, but could possibly find it if it shows up in a pawn shop. If not, is there some way I could track it if they plug it into their computer? All answers appreciated. Thanks.

It depends on what you mean by tracking devices. The iPod Touch doesn't have a GPS chip or a cellular radio, but it does have Wifi. You can track all Apple devices using Find My iPhone, if it is enabled. The only person able to track the device would be the logged in iCloud account user. If you lost your iPod touch and it is connected to Wifi, you should be able to locate it. The only scenario where somebody other than the iCloud account user could track location would be if you were a part of a Family Sharing iCloud account. In that case the master account could also track device location, if it was connected to Wifi.

The iPod does not.It can only report a position when…a) It has guessed a rough location based on nearby WiFi networks.b) It has a WiFi connection to get that message out.So if the device is stolen, you need to hope that the thief connects it to their WiFi.I am not entirely sure that the police chase after stolen devices which report a vague location. If you have a active iTunes account setup on your iPod you can sign in on a different apple device such as a iPad or Mac and download find my iPhone which also works for iPods,iPads, and iPhones as long as their connected to they your wifi network! So on that app log into your active iTunes account and if it's still connected to the wifi network it will show up! If not connected it will not show up and you will have to wait til spring...
