Why does our Indian army not get bulletproof jackets in wars?
First of all, I respect people like you who care about the condition of our soldiers.Yes our armies are provided with bulletproof jackets bro but problem with these tier 2 jackets is they effect agility and mobility.They are uncomfortable & heavy & only stop rounds up to 7.62 x 39.These ones use composite plastic armour set in bricks. A tender has been put out for more modern Kevlar jackets.That's the reason in some places army personnel's are not provided jackets (places where there's less threat etc).Union Minister for Finance Arun Jaitley allocated ₹359,000 crore (US$55 billion) of the 2017 Union budget of India for development in the Indian armed forces, marking a raise of around 7 per cent from the previous fiscal year.Yet this is a smaller amount than U.S. military annual budget on military expanses which is 598 billion$ but still india is opting for tier 3 bulletproof vests and helmets.But there's a good news too:-Indian Army to get 1.86 lakh bullet proof jacketsThe ordered bulletproof jackets will have 'boron carbide ceramic' which is the lightest material for ballistic protection. It also makes SMPP Bullet-Proof Jackets the best of the class and will be able to provide ballistic protection at the lowest possible weight.The Defence Ministry has signed a contract to acquire 1.86 lakh bullet proof jackets for the army. The cost of the deal is Rs. 693 Crore. (PTI)The Defence Ministry today signed a contract with a defence firm for procurement of 1.86 lakh bullet proof jackets for the Army at a cost of Rs 639 crore.In a statement, the ministry said the contract was finalised after “successful” field evaluation trials.The contract has been bagged by indigenous defence manufacturer SMPP Pvt Ltd.A major contract through capital procurement route, for procurement of 1,86,138 Bullet Proof Jackets (BPJs) has been signed,” it said.It said the new BPJs will provide “360-degree protection” to the soldier in combat, including from hard “steel core” bullets.“These bulletproof jackets will have ‘boron carbide ceramic’ which is the lightest material for ballistic protection. This makes SMPP BPJs the best of the class and will be able to provide ballistic protection at the lowest possible weight,” Chairman and Managing Director of SMPP S C Kansal said.The company said the size of the contract is Rs 639 crore.The Defence Ministry said the new BPJs will boost the confidence of soldiers.FUTURE TECH AND OUR SOLDIERS:-
