Well, I used to do this waaaay back ... we are talking mid-90's .... haven't tried it since. At the time, my computer came with software for that purpose. Since few people use dial-up anymore, there are probably few programs available, but might be some older ones. Try http://www.nonags.com or http://www.filehippo.com and do a search there or browse the internet applications. Good Luck

Since the USB provides half the current, it charges the phone at half the speed. The slower charging is better for lithium ion battery life because:The lower current reduces the temperature of the battery during charging, which will reduce electrolyte destruction. I can feel my phone get hot when charging from a wall adapter but my phone does not get hot when charging from a computer.Slower charging typically will allow the battery to store more charge than a fast charge.It's easier to stop the charging process at ~80% when you use a computer USB due to the slower charging. You can go to just about any computer shop and in the back of the computer shop there are usually 50 or 60 old computers stacked up in the back. It is totally legal to use one of the Windows 7 license is that is stuck on a PC that is being disposed of. As long as the hard drive is retained. I use my cell phone and take a picture and keep the hard drive. Free Windows 7 license all day long
