After reading all the answers I realized that this thread needs an updated answer. Legal research have come a long way in these last 2 -3 years. Below are my recommendationsIndian Kanoon( Search engine for Indian Law): Its free but does not give good results all the time. Can’t search on the website itself but can reach Indian kanoon only through google. Judgments have weired characters sometimes. But still it is widely used.SCC online (SCC Online | Home): Payed. Its headnotes are famous though but I got embarassed in front of my boss once as the judgment was completely different from what was given in the headnotes. So can’t rely on headnotes.www.manupatra.com: I agree with older comments that its a hassle to research on Manupatra. It asked me to upload my legal document so I uploaded a judgment and surprisingly it worked and I saw a judgement that I knew was important. Can a 17-year-old go see a rated R movie without a parent?
Probably not though in large cities they sometimes do not check ID’s of kids if they think they look 17 or above. Or have a really good fake ID.They can also get in with the help of an adult who is not their guardian. I did this once for a group of soccer buddies of my son. I regretted it GREATLY as I helped them get in to see the Rob Zombie version of “Halloween”, which I felt was near pornographic. I was embarrassed that I’d took my son to this much less that I got other kids in to see this monstrosity. It was too sexually graphic in my opinion but whatever. I lived in fear of a parent calling me to chew me out or come punch me for a few weeks after the incident but I guess no one ratted me out to their parents.

The answer, I'm afraid, is a resounding "maybe". The law is unclear. Congress passed an Internet pornography law a while back that banned the depiction of models who were adults who 'looked like' minors, or of fictitious or cartoon characters drawn to 'look like' minors, engaging in sex acts. The law, though, was REALLY badly written, and when it was challenged in court the Supreme Court struck it down as vague and unenforceable. Congress has not revisited the issue since, so there is currently not any 'specific' law banning Lolicon. However, even a cartoon story can be prosecuted as obscenity. If a Lolicon appears to show very young children engaged in sex acts, I doubt you'd have much trouble getting a US jury to decide it to be obscene. EDIT - Stuart is missing the point, I'm afraid. While the Supreme Court upheld Michael Williams conviction under the PROTECT act, they did so on the basis of some computer generated images "induistuinguishable from photographs of real children". They specifically noted in their opinion that "....virtual child pornography remained under the protection of the First Amendment, except when it was offered or solicited under the mistaken impression that actual children were depicted." Cartoons that are clearly not depictions of real children do not, therefore, fall under the PROTECT act - although as I noted they could still be found obscene in their own content. Richard

The web site itself is legal, but much of the content cannot be viewed by minors, so it depends on the age of whoever is looking at it. Regarding the 'Adult - Youth' section, if the content is fiction, and no minors are harmed during the writing, I can't see how it can be illegal. Having said that, I can't see anyone being caught viewing the material while being underage, that's why there are disclaimers on most of the stories. If the writer warns the reader of the content, then the onus is on the reader to stop, and both the writer and the web site have done all they can to stay within the law. Yeah, it's illegal there. You better not. I had a friend spend 12 years in Folsom for viewing porn but they let him out after serving only 9 years, so it's not that bad. If they come to your door and ask, tell them the truth and they will go easy on you like they did my friend. He was facing life with hard time.
Where can I search for death records for FREE?
I have gone to several different sites but they all end up asking for money. I thought death records were public records and anyone should be able to search for a loved one but I'm hitting dead ends everywhere.
