Is There Any Correction In My English

English Correction Paper??

Mrs. Blackman can't understand that watching the Chicago Bears' game on Monday night is more important than reading two or eight chapters of The Red Badge of Courage. Does she sincerely believe that I would sit down at 8:00 pm, kick-off time, and read some book about a war that happened before my great grandparents were born? She says that it's historic. Well, I can't think of one thing more historic than what's to come on Monday night. I'll bet 90 percent of the United States will be watching this Super Bowl run. I suppose, however, that Mrs. Blackman is one of the 10 percent who believes that the world doesn't stop for football.

OK, I'm not sure about that 10 percent....you're supposed to spell out the numbers 1-10, but you're supposed to use numbers with the word 'percent' ... which rule supercedes the other??

Is there a way to get Quora to stop correcting your English?

If you’ve written something incorrect, even if it is unintentional, and you are being corrected - do not take it as a snub. It is all part of learning. If the corrections had a detrimental effect then its a different case. But if Quora is ‘correcting’ your English as you say, then that means it is improving your content and not degrading it. You should take it in your stride and see it as an opportunity to learn. Also, if you are interested in improving your English by yourself, take a look at the VoLT app which provides users with a wealth of words along with witty techniques to remember and use them: VoLT - Vocabulary Learning - Android Apps on Google Play

How do I deal with a colleague who keeps correcting my English in public?

I have corrected my staff’s English before in front of other teammates, usually because the verbal report they are giving has become so convoluted that no one can make sense of it. Some of my staff are more fluent in Mandarin or Malay, so they may get the “he” and “she” mixed up if they become excited or agitated. After I remind them to correct their English, they usually back up the story, cool down, and then restart with a much clearer report. My boss does it to me too if she loses the thread of what I’m telling her and needs clarification. If we are in public, and if what is being said is casual conversation and not official, we either make a joke of it to correct the person or we ignore it.I had a co-worker Anthony whose English was less than fantastic, but he was full of pride and never admitted to any verbal or written errors. Even when the boss pulled him aside to let him know his mistakes, he would blame it on someone else miscommunicating or even deny that he made the mistake. To prove that he was top dog, he took to correcting his co-workers’ grammar errors and using bombastic cliched English to give opinions on matters which he knew nothing about. Sometimes, he would eavesdrop on our conversations and, if he heard less than stellar English, he would spring out of his seat and loudly mock the person who got it wrong. If we spoke about matters that did not concern him, he would Google the subject and butt in the conversation to proudly share what Wikipedia said. It got to the point where we sometimes had to leave him in the office rather than let him loose in public because we never knew when he would embarrass us either with his wonky English or his scant general and professional knowledge.I can’t tell your standard in English from one sentence. If your colleague is like Anthony and wants to put you down or boost his own image, then yes, you have to deal with it because that is bullying. Either engage him one-on-one and tell him to stop, or ask your boss to step in. On your part, be pro-active. If your English is not fluent and therefore you are giving him opportunities to mock you, take this as a challenge and work on your language skills. That will benefit you as well as reduce his chances to belittle you.
