Is There Any Point In Attending College

Is there a point in attending college when you don't learn well in a traditional classroom setting?

You are most likely not aware of the fact that not all colleges are the same.  There are big colleges, small colleges, colleges with large classrooms, ones with small personal settings, and then there are online colleges. You can even work with the college if you have difficulty working in a traditional environment. The massive difference between high school, and college, is that while you are forced to attend public schools... you pay to go to college.  This is why they don't really care if you don't show up for class.  If you can pass the class, that's fine.  If you don't go, and you don't pass, you are out.  If you don't want to be at college, you can leave college.  This is why they will find multiple different ways to get you the education you are paying for.For example, if you just could not function in a class-room of people, you might end up with a tutor for a certain class... and you only having to take the tests in the classroom.So... what do you do?  You actually go to the college you'd like to attend, and you talk with the people in the admissions office.  You talk with them, and you talk with professors, and you talk, and talk, and talk.... ask questions, find out who else to talk to.  You asked this question here... why wouldn't you think to ask this question at a college you'd like to attend?  Why wouldn't you think they would want to help you?  If for no other reason, they'd like your money.  It is in their best financial interests to help you continue to pay them.That... or just go to the University of Phoenix Online.

What's the point of college?

the thing is that u never know if u are going to get a good job or not...i believe that college is necesary for most people cause, even though u dont think so, a bachelor degree is suddenly becoming a MUST for almost any job.

think about it, if you had to choose between a guy with a hs diploma or a guy with a bachelor in bussines to be ur...secretary for example...i would pick the second guy. He is deffinately more prepared because he has gone through things one doesnt go through in hs. He might not think this is the coolest job on earth but he will have more opportunities ahead that he will be able to take because he has a bachelor.

i guess getting a good job is hard at the beggining, but only if u get a Bachelor you will have the opportunity to actually grow and improve ur life. It also depends of what kind of life u want to live, because if you graduate and have four kids the next day, your life WILL be tough....no salary, of ANY career is good at the beggining....

Also you get a bachelor degree in something u love so you can enjoy it. If you love what you do, i dont think the pay is too important...it would be worth it because it gives u a better chance of getting a job, is an opportunity to explore something you really enjoy, meet people, it would make you appreciate life a lot more...i dont think a lot of cashiers are completely happy, but i know a few doctors that love saving lives everyday.

is just a matter of finding what you like and make it your life...and if you like being a cashier, then dont go to college... go to wallmart and make ur dream come true!(im not joking..)

i hope this helped!

good luck!

What is the purpose of attending college/university?

The stated purpose of a college education is to get a strong background in some field - and, in the case of a liberal arts education, to get a solid background in the knowledge that's useful to everyone in our culture. A friend's professor once described the point of a general education as being "so you can get the jokes on The Simpsons," and I can't think of a better summary of cultural literacy.

Also, college is a place where many connections are made - so, if you're looking for a checklist of things to do, an important one is to find some things you're passionate about and enjoy them while you have the free time and energy. The friends you make and the things you learn ouside of the classroom are liable to be just as important as the knowledge you get from professors (if not moreso).

Finally - college is, in a lot of ways, a proving ground. If you can get a good GPA in a tough major, a lot of people will see that as evidence that you'll be capable of whatever they're going to ask of you.
