Is There Any Way That I Can Film A Video While Watching It On My Laptop

How long will my laptop record video for?

If all the settings on the computer are set the right way, it will record until no more free space is available (which would be fatal for windows pc's). Therefore I personally would make sure to have a storage (internally or externally) which is big enough to store the collected data.

For setting up the system:
1. Set the sleep timer to "never", this is done by (in Win 7) clicking on the battery symbol in the down-right corner, and hereafter selecting "More energy options". This will get you to a window where you can see and edit the battery options of your computer. Click on change "options for power-plan" and set standby to "never".

2. Make sure your recording software got no timer-limit, I'm not quiet sure which software would be optimal for this purpose, but you may find such software with a little research.

3. make sure you got enough data-storage (eventually set it to capture in low quality) and set the computer somewhere where it can film you AND doesn't overheat as this would make system shut down and may start a fire in the most unlucky situation.

You now can start the recording, but remember to save it correctly. Also!! some video recorders record to your RAM first before saving, therefore only being able to record a very limited time, you may want to get sort of a combination of Fraps and a wabcam recorder.
And be ready to try the recording multiple nights, as there may go something wrong the first time(s).

Does watching movies for long on a laptop have any negative effects on the laptop?

Yes. Your laptop absorbs the characters of the movies and gains multiple personalities. It can lose many functions and the ability to make decisions. Sometimes it absorbs story lines of the movies you are watching and at night when you’re not looking it spills these movie Universes into your world much like a Portal. This can be quite inconvenient especially if you were watching Titanic or Jurassic Park or a wildlife documentary.

Laptop randomly playing videos while closed?

So, my laptop's been acting a little strange the past month or two. It all started the beginning of last month, one day I was watching a video with VLC media player and heard this odd music in the background that I knew wasn't part of the movie. I paused the movie, and the music kept playing. I checked iTunes, nothing was playing, and I even closed it to see if that would help. I did the same thing with Chrome, I checked that there were no ads playing, and then closed it. I checked the Task Manager, it didn't show any programs running which would cause that music. Finally I decided to restart my laptop in the hopes it would help. It did, though the music kept playing the whole time it was shutting down and didn't stop until it was finally off. I got my camera out and took a video to record the song and see if I could identify it, a friend later said it was Mandarin Taiwanese.

A few weeks after, I had closed my laptop for the night but left it running. Around 3am, it woke me up playing some very loud advertisement. I was half-asleep and didn't think to check if there were any ads open in Chrome, I just closed out of it and muted the computer before closing it again.

Then this morning, about half an hour ago, I got woken up again. I'd left my laptop closed and running again, with a tab of the TV show Ghost Adventures open on Youtube. Around 1:30am, I got woken up by the sound of one of the guys on the show yelling "Show yourself!" followed by the creepy sound effects they play in the beginning of the show. Apparently the episode had restarted itself and started playing, once again even though my laptop was closed.

Is there anything I can do about this? I'm not sure if it's a virus or not. My computer isn't really having any other problems other than this. I'd like to be able to fix it, otherwise I'll have to start muting my computer before I go to bed at night.

Is there anyway to transfer Hi8 video tapes to a laptop?

So long as the handycam has some sort of way to connect it to a TV with AV cords, you can get a video recording kit - like the Dazzle - for your laptop. This comes with a USB dongle that has AV inputs on it, and some software to allow the computer to record from it.

Using the USB dongle, you'll connect the camera to the laptop and play the tapes while the laptop records them on its hard drive. This will create a video file on the laptop that you can then edit and burn to a DVD (either as a data DVD or a regular video DVD.)

Alternatively if you get a standalone DVD recorder that connects to your TV. You can connect the camera to that (again, using the AV cords) and record directly onto a blank DVD.
