Is There Anyway To Block Shrill Noises Coming Through Apartment Door

What is too much noise in an apartment?

Most local authorities have an Environmental Health Officer. Environmental Health covers issues like noise pollution, I think if you approached them and asked them what level of noise is considered acceptable bearing in mind you have a young child that wants to play. I would say that anything less than 50 decibels is acceptable. Local authority's have decimeters that record the level of noise, if you approach them and explain the problem they may set the decimeter up for you to record. Obviously your going to keep the noise down when it's in but I wouldn't in anyway try to control the child. If the manager complains during the recording of the noise levels you can look at what the reading is at the time of the complaint and again approach the local authority with the resultant level of noise, if the level is acceptable to the authority then the problem is the managers you can tell him the level and it is up to him to fix the problem coz the problem isn't you or yours but the structure

Should I call in a noise complaint on a family with a crying baby?

Our baby had bouts of ear-splitting screams until she was about a year old. Then it abruptly stopped. We were very conscious of how this would impact our neighbors, so we took to camping in the living room each night with the bedroom doors shut until the phase passed - the living room being the most isolated room in the apartment from the neighboring units. However, it's important to note that this was neither required of us, nor can you require it from your neighbor. So here's what you can't do:You cannot call the police unless you suspect abuse. Note that a baby crying in the night could also be a sign of the parent following the controversial 'Ferber method' - that is NOT considered abuse. You cannot require your neighbor to make an 'out of their way' accommodation for you. You can request it, of course, but you'll need superhuman charm to pull that off with sleep-deprived parents. But here's what you can do:The crying baby is not the problem. Babies, by definition, can never be a problem. The problem is poor sound-proofing in your apartment building, which is affecting the livability of the unit. Take up this 'problem' with the building management while making it very clear that you are not complaining about your neighbor - you are only complaining about your unit. I've known such cases to result in one or more of the following:Allowing you to break your lease so you can find a new placeOffering you a different apartment and covering the cost of the moveInstalling sound deadening layers on the adjoining wallA break in the rent - while this doesn't address the noise, it does promote your general well-being and/or allows you to buy the stuff you need in order to sleep betterGet a pair of ear plugsGet a box fan or white noise machineSleep in a different room until the crying phase passes - it willDespite having been on the other side of the wall, I can fully understand your predicament. Sleepless nights are no fun.

How do I get an annoying cricket out of my house?

Count your blessings. For a cricket to choose to come into your home signifies something good is on the way. Sometimes it's a child, a monetary gain, good news of some sort. And to kill it is not good! It will leave on its own shortly before the good news. It is keeping you up for a reason. What are you not listening to that you need to be reminded of?

How do i know i heard a gunshot instead of something else?

Legal firecrackers shouldn't make a sound as loud as a gunshot. If it was an illegal M-80 or a homemade gunpowder pyrotechnic, I would call the cops anyway.

Back on topic, with some experience with firearms you will know what a gunshot sounds like. It's very difficult to explain, because most of the time I either have hearing protection or my left ear is ringing like crazy.

After a lot of experience, I can definitely tell if someone was shooting off an AK-47 (makes distinctive sound). If you hear multiple sounds of shots instead of one bang, you can be pretty sure it's gunshots.

If it's loud enough to disturb me in the middle of the night, I'll call the police anyway.

What is the closed mouthed, high pitched whine noise my cat is making?

I’m going to add my 2 cents worth, but I have to say I’m not an expert. However, I’ve had cats all my life, so there’s that.In my experience, unless the cat is used to you, they prefer to be alone when they feel bad. It’s especially stressful to your new cat because she probably hasn’t felt comfortable enough to properly scent and mark the house to make it her own. Also, you didn’t mention if the cats were used to each other. A new cat to deal with and a new home and new humans? Of course she’s distressed.I’d put her in a separate room with her own litter box and everything. But after a day or so I’d go in there and spend time with her. Read a book, sit with your laptop. I’d sit on the floor so she could approach me, but that’s just me. Then open the door so she can go out if she wants to. (Unless she and the other cat don’t get along.) Then wait and see what she does. Let her come out when she wants to.

What is the best story starting with this line, "You turn the key in the lock and opened the door, to your horror you see..."?

You turn the key in the lock and opened the door, to your horror you see a ghost like figure in your house. For a split second, you don't  believe it. But as you see it coming towards you, your heart starts racing. You tremble to talk, you want to run, but you cant. Your legs are not moving. Behind the ghost is your wife, lying in a pool of blood. She is not moving, you want to run towards her and help her, but the ghost coldly says "Don't even try". "Why.., why shouldn't I? And who are you?" The female ghost now gives out a eerie sound. Heart trembling, you turn around and run. As your house is near a forest, you don't have neighbours. You regret taking the house in this area.  As you race towards the gate, you see a car slowing down near the gate. Your friend gets down from the car and you run towards him and hug him. "What happened Raj? You seem frightened. " " A.., a ghost.., in my house." What are you even saying? Are you mad? Come on lets see." says Arun. "No, no, I wont dare. Please, let us go out of here." you plead As your friend drags you towards the house, you start panicking. Arun opens the door and peeks in. He gives you a shit look. "Where is the ghost? Trying to frighten me Raj?" "See, see there is my wife lying down on the floor, go inside and see.""Okay, let me see." said Arun and went inAs you wait near the door, you get a odd sensation. You look back, nothing. Look all sides, nothing. But when you see your roof, you get a spine chilling feeling. The ghost is standing and smiling at you. Damn, I told him! you think. Now you hear a high voice. " Arun, arun, arun" you shout and you run inside. You see your wife lying at the same spot, but arun is nowhere in sight. "What did you think when you sent him in, dear raj?" a shrill voice calls. You look back, you see the ghost standing at the door. Behind her, you see arun's body hanging from the roof. The ghost now comes towards you. "You cant escape, my dear darling. Heart stops.                                                      The End
