What's the Pros and Cons of Democrats/Liberals and Republicans/Conservatives?
1st, let's get one thing clear: Democrat doesn't necessarily mean liberal and Republican doesn't mean conservative Now that that's out of the way, there is no Pro with Democrats or Republicans. Both parties are addicted to spending which are bankrupting us and gov't regulations which restrict our freedoms. Now onto libs vs cons. The pro's for liberals is that they support people being free socially (gay marriage, etc.). The con is that they do not support economic freedom (heavy-handed regulations which don't make the market better or people safer, etc.) The pro's for conservatives is that they support economic freedom, but the con is that they do not support social freedom. Whether you think liberal or conservative is better is based on which set of beliefs you share. You may ask yourself at this point, is there a party that supports social and economic freedom simultaneously? Yes, libertarians, and by extension, the Libertarian Party.
How come Republicans are oblivious to the fact that Trump was a lifelong Democrat who called Hillary "terrific?"?
Trump doesn't support limited government and is a fan of Democrats' prescriptions on the economy. Why the hell are conservatives bending over backwards for him? Even the NYT said his strongest supporters are "a certain kind of Democrat."

The Libertarian platform is actually the old school, progressive Republican platform. Apparently some people don't know much about Libertarians or old school Republicans....since someone thumbed my comment down. I'm not saying Libs stole it from Reps. I'm saying that Libs are what Republicans used to be before they started sullying themsleves with neo-cons. Ron Paul started out as a Libertarian, doofs.
Can liberals and conservatives compromise with each other?
Liberals should compromise on their anti-markets, anti-business, anti-rich people beliefs, and then conservatives should compromise on their anti-gay, anti-choice beliefs. Liberals stay out of conservatives wallets. Conservatives stay out of liberal bedrooms. It's called compromise and it will make everyone more happy.
