Is There Really A Town In Mississippi Called Pascagoula

Is there a town in mississippi called chittlin switch?

Actually, the town of Chitlin Switch is in Georgia.

I found that out through references in *I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings* by Maya Angelou.

What are some lesser-known sights to see when visiting Mobile, AL?

“A man saw a robin, building a nest and he figured the bird new best so he built a town around it and they called it Mobile…. Alabama.” - Mobiles theme song. Here’s what I love to do…Walk down the Avenue of the Oaks on the campus of Springhill College, and take in the view overlooking the golf course at the end. Beautiful. Get an “upside down” hot dog and a chili cheese burger (yes, both) at the Dew Drop Inn. Rent a Kayak at the Five Rivers Delta Nature Park, a short paddle will show you the best of the local wildlife. Get an appetizer and a glass of champagne at Dauphin’s restaurant that overlooks the Mobile River and State Docks as well as the entire city-go at sunset. Go see whatever concert or show is going at the 100 year old Saenger Theater. The venue will be as good as the show. Go walk or run whatever 5k is hosted on Saturday. There will be one and it will be a pretty trip. If you are here in the summer it rains nearly every day at about 3pm, but it only lasts a few minutes. You are only an hour from gambling in Biloxi or the sugar sand of Gulf Shores. Welcome to Mobile!Reply

What are some of the best place to visit in the 'Deep South' (USA)?

Lafeyette, Louisiana  Find Cajun French side by side with the Deep South community and experience lots of history and culture such as:You gotta go to Vermillionville. They showcase tons of history and offer an up close experience with wildlife. I suggest learning some French before you go so you can mingle with the locals at a local French table. Check out: Vermilionville (go in the summer and I might be there!)*Area Table Francais Locations - Louisiana / Cajun French JD Davidson's answer to How do I experience the purest Cajun culture during a trip to Louisiana? We might be straying out of Deep South territory but:Charleston, SC has some great beaches as well as historic viewing opportunities and has been rated as one of the very best places to visit in the South. Great to look into. If you can, try to hop over to the Sea Cotton/Gullah Islands, too, or go when they are having their festival. Very laid back beaches. The best that I've ever been to in the South. Also try to pick up a sweet grass rose! Hey keep for a long time and are unique and great souvenirs. Now you might be thinking oh I bet New Orleans and Myrtle Beach would be fun, too. (Even others have said it.)There are places that you have to be more careful in, though. Not completely for safety reasons or anything but because you could find yourself not having as much of a fun time as you thought you were going to if you fall into some of the tourist trap things. Don't go to Bourban street. I would never strongly recommend hitting the beach at Dirty Myrtle.  If you do go to New Orleans then check out New Orleans Tours . Asheville, NCIt's a great city that's not too big and is deeply connected with the arts. The views are amazing and there are a lot of activities such as seeing a concert at The Grey Eagle | Asheville, NC or zip longing. If you skip up to Boone, NC about an hour away you could go to Grandfather Mountain State Park  which is super cool and during the winter you can participate in quite a few snowy activities such as snow tubing. The mountains really are blue.  There are few things more Southern than college football and the capital of college football is Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Tailgaiting is what they call the big party every home game Saturday when the Crimson Tide comes out to play. Tuscaloosa has a great bar scene (so I hear). If you can get tickets You won't regret it. What does it mean when a house is condemned?

It can mean a variety of things, but in general use it is because for reasons set by the local jurisdiction it is deemed to be unfit for human habitation. Now, for some particulars: homes of private individuals or apartment buildings or other structures can be condemned in some places for such things as lack of sanitation, including water turn-off, use by drug addicts, lack of cleanliness, use for prostitution, or other so-called “nuisance” conditions, structural defects including hurricane, tornado, fire, and flood damage, and of course the governmental taking by eminent domain for an over-riding public purpose such as necessary roads and bridges and rail lines. Condemnation has been misused in some instances, and is often the subject of legal battles.

What is the ideal name for a boat?

When you step aboard a boat, great or small, you are laying your life on the line. You are declaring in the most sincere way possible that you are willing to trust this boat to take you through hell and high water and bring you home again, safe and sound, even if the devil comes on stilts. One of the most evocative ship names ever was the ship in the Chronicles of Narnia, written by C.S. Lewis. Instead of Nancy B or Jane G or Mary P or some other female name followed by an upper-case letter without so much as a period to anchor it, Lewis made it about the ship, not about himself. He named her Dawn Treader. The ideal name for a boat, then, is one that conveys the respect she is due, the faith, hope, and trust placed in her; a name that captures more than the owner’s self-indulgence and recognises that of all the things we personify, a boat is the closest to actually being a person.Or as a famous sailor named McCoy once said, of another ship, one named Enterprise,“Treat her like a lady, and she’ll always bring you home.”So they named her “Enterprise,” eh - a name meaning a grand, hopeful undertaking? How did they resist the urge to name her “Hold Yer Breath LOL”? Half the men in America would have, missing her cosmic importance in carrying people where no one had gone before.A wisecrack name won’t do (“Paid For,” “Husband’s Escape,” etc.) Neither will a name that sounds like something an idiot would name his wireless router. Some of the best choices for a boat name are the names of sea creatures. Consider the fictional Guppy and Minnow.Other fine choices for boat names include birds, animals, and every manner of beastie. The designer picked the perfect name for his 28-foot sailboat: Petrel. The petrel is a small white seabird, not to be confused with Petrol, which is metric gasoline. As others have noted, the greatest of the sailing ships, the clippers, were outstanding in the poetry of their names. Yet others have carried on the tradition.Walter Rush sailed his 36-foot sailboat, the Gryphon, from Maine to the Caribbean in 2016, a voyage of over 1,500 miles and at distances up to 400 miles from shore.
