Is There Some Kind Of Dsl Splitter Read Description

Caller ID not working with DSL Phone Filter?

EVERY DEVICE NEEDS A FILTER.. the guy above is WRONG... every DTV reciver, fax, phone, and dial up modem needs a filter.. he may not have heard the static on his line, because the DSL signal is only on the line when the modem is powered on. if the modem is off, the DSL signal is not present, and you wouldnt know the diffrence if the filter was in place or not...

CID info comes in a data burst with the first ring of a phone call.. i have never heard of a DSL filter filtering out the CID data... call your local phone provider to see if they can troubleshoot this issue with you.. it shoud not cost you anything for them to troubleshoot the problem, as long as it is not any of your telephone equiptment that is causing the problem

EDIT: whats with the thumbs down... i guess over 10 years in the industry and a consumer knows better then me...

static with your phone... proballay a defective dsl filter, try changing the filter... try moving the base and handset away from any florusent lighting, or anything with a compressor like an ac or fridge... if it is a 1st gen cordless phone, or 900 mhz phone there may be too much radio interfearance, replace the phone.. if it is a 2.4 ghz phone you may be getting interfearance from a near by wifi router.. if you have a router, access the control pannel of the router at http://192.168.1.1 and change the channel the wifi is broadcasting on..

it can also be a loose wire, or bad line cord.. check the jack with a diffrent phone...

Does a ethernet cable splitter slow down internet speed?

Let me guess. You have two computers and you want to hook them both to one Internet modem (cable or DSL). A splitter like this will not allow you to do that. But it would sent the same Internet signal to both computers. So it you were to bring up a web page or read/write an e-mail of instant message, it would also display on the second computer. Any one on it would see everything you are doing.

What you want is a router. It is similar to a splitter. It connects to your cable or DSL modem and then has multiple ports for attaching the several computers. Only a router is "smart", and it able to keep track of what signal comes from which computer, and what reply needs to go back where. They are available at electronic store/departments or places like WalMart starting at 40 hours.

I don't think the splitter will do what you want.

What is the difference between an ADSL modem and a DSL modem?

DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) is the generic term for services that provide internet connections using digital data connections between a modem and a phone line. What’s great about DSL, is that even when the phone line is in use, there is no interruption, and you can still experience a high speed internet connection even when you are making calls.ADSL stands for Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line. This type of service means that the speed of data sent is known as upstream, and the data received is known as downstream, and the speeds are not always guaranteed to be the same. They have different speeds that change from time to time. The most requested service is the ADSL service. In regards to ADSL, the internet service providers offer options for higher bandwidth, in upstream, downstream or both. The only thing is, they naturally charge higher rates for higher speeds.ADSL uses a special ADSL modem, and a micro-filter in the subscriber’s telephone line. This is what allows the ADSL service and telephone service to be used at the same time. The word ‘asymmetric’ in ADSL actually means that the downstream is faster than the upstream. ADSL supports a downstream rate of 1.5 to 9 Mbps, and an upstream rate of 16 to 640 Kbps. When you use ADSL, your PC will always be connected to the internet, as long as the power is on, and once you ‘turn on’ your computer, your PC will automatically have an internet connection, unless you manually disconnect. Unlike dial-ups, ADSL can serve various computers within a house for multiple members simultaneously.Source: google

ADSL Filters and Dropouts?

Hi I have a question regarding my ADSL2 internet. The internet drops out and the adsl light on the modem goes out. I've been told I may need filters or splitters for the phoneline. We have a couple of phone sockets around the house, all are the same line. So we have:

Telephone socket in the garage, nothing is plugged in here.
Telephone socket in bedroom1, phone is plugged in here.
Telephone socket in bedroom2, nothing is plugged in here.
Telephone socket in living room, phone is plugged in here.
Telphone socket in office, modem is plugged in here.

Everything is just directly plugged in, I have no filters/splitters on anything.

So what do I need to do, what's the correct setup I should have so I don't loose my adsl connection if someone calls or I use a phone (that seems to be when it drops out the most, sometimes it just randomly drops out).

THANKS :)

Hiii help me find a way to speed up my spectranet connection !?

i should realy say this but he was probs on telewest meaning the actual speed of the internet is controled by the modem they give you (the dont limit it thro server its the modem) thats y a engine has to set it up for u you can get in to the option on the modem using the rite tools and change it to what u like my mate use to have a 10mbs conection when he was only payin for a 2mb conection thro this also works the same with the telewest tv box all comes down same line how ever since gone to virgin media i dont know how long it will last for
