Is There Some Over-the-counter Worm Prevention I Can Get For My Cats

I found White (maggots worm things) near/ under where my Cat. I think they are tape worms? What should I do?

You should not own an animal if you can't afford to take it to the vet. Its neglect, and not fair to your cat. However, you may be able to buy some treatment from your vet without having him examine it. It sounds like you just may need worm treatment if they are coming out of the butt. The black specks sound like flea eggs so maybe some frontline from your vet could help. However, I am not a vet, and you might end up treating your cat for something he didn't even have, which could make it worse. Maybe you could call your vet and ask them questions, I don't if they allow that or not. You could also try handing your cat to a shelter where it could be cared for and adopted by someone who can give it a better life

Can you deworm a cat while pregnant?

Absolutely you can; and it is very important that you do. Kittens always get infected with worms from their mothers milk.Deworming mama 14 days before and after birth helps preventing her from giving a particular nasty worminfection to her babies. Kittens are very sensitive to worm infection.Deworming the kittens at 6 and 8 weeks is also very important (always check the right dose for their weight and age).Do make sure you get a good deworming medicine from your vet. Some over the counter deworming and antiflea medications are known to give serious side effects and sometimes even cause death in cats (stay away from dimethicone for instance). So make sure you get good a quality and give your mama cat and future babies a healthy start. Best of luck!!

How can you tell if a cat has worms?

hey theres a few ways to check like if there is anything in the stool ,thats obvious.also it depends on the type of worm .you may have hook worm if there is blood inthe stool.round worm can be felt through the skin like a round raised area.most other worms can be verified by white small seed like segments found around the anus .if your cat is an outdoor cat which makes it hard to check the stool consider keeping the cat indoors a few days.worms are easily treated and fairly cheap. best of luck.

Where can you get cat de-wormer???

To get the best for your cat take it to the vet. There are different types of worms which require different types of de wormer. You need to know which types of worms it has so you know what de wormer to use.

How to I cure my cat's butt worms? HELP!?

Sounds like tapeworms to me. The medication, Interceptor will help. Also do a dewormer regularly as well as a flea treatment.

I would also take her to the vet again, but maybe this time try a different vet. Sometimes vets will do what they can to help for the short term, but only to bring you back in so you can spend more money.

Can a inside house cat get worms?

Even if your pet is an indoor pet, they are susceptible to and exposed to parasites. You could even be the one bringing them in on your clothes or shoes or produce or plants (leaves or the dirt they grow in.) If you have other pets they can also be exposing your cat. Indoor or outdoor, a fecal should be done by your vet at least once a year. The treatment is simple and inexpensive and well worth keeping your cat healthy. If left untreated parasites can drain your pet's health and cause expensive vet bills to get him or her healthy again.

I have two seven month old indoor kittens. I'm planning on taking them on walks outside. What is the best flea preventative? Do I even need one?

Thanks for the A2A. When you say you are planning on taking them for walks, do you mean on a leash, or just letting them run loose? If you simply let them out, they may very possibly hop over the fence and get lost. Letting cats outside is not a good idea. Cats that are kept indoor live twice as long as outdoor cats. This is because of dangers like predators, poisons, and disease. If you do take them out, I strongly suggest you train them to be on a leash, with a good harness. As to flea protection, the best is obtained through a vet. But there are a number of OTC ones available at pet stores, and such. Make sure that it is suitable for younger cats, and buy one that can be applied to the back of the neck. These seem to be the most effective, and the cat cannot lick that area, so they are not exposed to the poison,Frontline and Advantage II are highly rated, and would be good choices. There is also a pill called Capstar, which some prefer, although getting a pill into your cat may present a real challenge.
