How would you solve the refugee and ISIS problem?
The system we have now is IMO flawed in two ways:First, we are letting people in with practically zero control(+)Second, these people are left to themselves afterwards.(+)First part means that we have no idea who is coming in and what are their motives. This is what many people are scared of.Second part is IMO much worse. If I let someone in my house, then I will also make sure that (s)he feels welcome, understands the house rules and participates in the family life. This is where we fail in europe today, resulting in “lost generation” of imigrants and their children that do not feel welcome, can’t get a job, can’t integrate even if they want to and don’t see a real perspective in life. That’s what I am scared of: not the people who just came in, but the people they might become when they realize that they will forever be outsiders.What I would do about it? I know first-hand how difficult it is for an immigrant to understand the rules of the place (s)he enters. And for the locals to understand that there is something to (mis)understand…Make sure that everyone who chooses to live in europe understands and accepts the society they are joining. On the other hand, also assure that they do not suffer from discrimination too.As for those that wan’t or can’t accept the european way of life, we should help them to go elsewhere where they will feel better.(+) i’m oversimplifying it here. No, the situation isn’t quite as bad as that and some level of screening and support does exist. I just think that what we do isn’t nearly enough.
