Is There Something Wrong With My Ears Or These People Don

My husband thinks "the people" put a chip in his ear and are keeping him alive for experimentation, Help!

I am not making this up, we've been married 10 yrs and he's been this way the whole time, it started when he was in his 20's and he told me to post here and see what others think, I know it is no joke and want to help him any way I can, he drains me with all this crap, he see a phsychiatrist but all the "dr" does is write out RX, never checks to see if working either, he takes Depakote, Benzotropine and Risperdal.

Why do people pretend that getting their ears pierced doesn't hurt?

B*U*L*L*S*H*!*T

It means metal rods being punched through your ears
They are thicker than injection needles
They are blunter than injection needles
Each one goes through the skin twice, at the front and the back.

Why should it hurt less than a flu jab?

I can’t understand I why I was stupid enough to believe everyone who said it was only a 'quick nip’

Was it worth it?
Well my ears are stinging like hell, very sore, bright red, burning up and I can feel my pulse in them. I want to go to bed but I can’t lie down because they hurt like hell when they touch the pillow.

Maybe next month I’ll think so, but right now, not a chance in hell.

Anyone who does this to their babies should be jailed for child abuse.

Q-Tips and cleaning your ears?

One thing you definitely don't want to do is get rid of all your earwax. Earwax isn't dirt. It's a normal secretion that protects your ear, just the way other kinds of wax protect your car.

If water gets in your ear canal -- while you're swimming or taking a shower, for instance -- earwax will cause the water to bead up and move away from your eardrum. Then the slipperiness of the wax encourages the water to run out of the canal. In addition, earwax is slightly acidic, which discourages bacterial or fungal growth in the moist, dark ear canal. Without earwax, it would be much harder to avoid ear infections.

In a way, it's part of a self-cleaning system. Most people don't need to do any ear maintenance at all. Earwax slowly migrates toward the opening of the ear canal and is sloughed off. If you want, you can take a washcloth and, using your finger, gently wash the opening of your ear.

Whatever you do, don't poke a cotton swab into your ear. A swab may remove a little wax, but it's also likely to push some deeper into the ear canal. Because the canal is hourglass-shaped, earwax can create a plug that won't come out on its own. Most of my patients with impacted earwax created the problem themselves with cotton swabs.

A small minority of people do produce unusually large amounts of earwax. If your ear canal keeps getting clogged, you may need to see your doctor occasionally to have it removed. Most physicians use jets of carefully-controlled water to rinse out the ear canal and remove impacted wax. Ear specialists use a magnifying scope and a small instrument to remove wax.

Can you do it yourself? Sure, though it's a good idea to check with your physician first. Removing wax on your own is not recommended if you have a history of ear infections or other ear problems such as a hole in the eardrum.

To remove excess wax, you'll need a kit of wax-dissolving drops and a rubber bulb syringe, both of which are available at almost any pharmacy. The kits usually come with instructions, which you should follow carefully.

Remember not to use cotton swabs in your ears, and the chances are they'll take good care of themselves.

Are Q-tips bad for your ears? Do they affect one’s hearing?

Q tips very definitely and absolutely are bad for your ears. You use them and every time you remove a bit of ear wax and push a bit more deeply inside the ear. Also, you continue to damage the skin of your ear canals. So, do not use them! I am a practicing ear, nose and throat surgeon and a significant part of my income comes from the people who use q tips. So, next question is obviously how do you clean your ears. Rub foam from the soap or shampoo on your ear lobes, wash you ears with water. Dry with a corner of a towel. If the ears itch, put some olive oil inside. Do not scratch, etc! Do not put anything inside your ear...

Do you think piercing a baby's ears is unethical?

I wouldn't do it personally, but I don't think its unethical either. It's a parents choice.

Why are people so obsessed with piercings nowadays?

Don't take this offensively, but you're placing a stereotype on all those who have piercings. I myself am a 20 year old, intelligent, Christian girl and I'd describe myself as a preppy dresser. However, I do have my nose pierced. I don't have it to make a statement, but rather simply because I like how it looks. I also don't think it make me any less or more good looking than I already am.

I have to say though that I share your opinion on thinking that lots of piercings can be disgusting or ridiculous looking. I also don't appreciate the fact that this stereotypical group of youth who choose to be either emo or punk or goth or whatever wonders why we place criticism on them and wonder why we stare at them in disgust. However, I guess we just have to let them live their life they way they want and we'll live the way we want.

But please take note that not everyone that has a piercing is trying to rebel. =)

People don't believe me when I tell them I'm a little "psychic"?

Okay, so the thing is that I'm a little "psychic" (if you even can Call it that). Sometimes I think of Things right before people say those exact words. I can feel when people are around me, even when I close my eyes and have loud music in my ears and can't hear anything. Sometimes I even predict yhings, however those other things happen more often. No one believes me. Not even my best friend.

Why do my ears hurt while wearing headphones?

There are several possible reasons:For any kind of headphones - excessive volume. The pain threshold is about 125 dB, which is the same volume as a balloon popping. Sustained exposure to sounds this loud can lead to long-term effects. Also for any kind of headphones - excessive treble. Related to excessive volume, if a pair has a particularly crisp high treble range, it can be literally fatiguing to listen for long periods of time. Especially if you listen at moderately loud volumes. This is why Sennheiser tends to roll off the high treble frequencies in their headphones. For in-ear headphones - too-large ear tips. Pretty simple concept; if you’re trying to jam earphones into your ears that are too large, they’ll be very uncomfortable. Most IEM’s come with at least 3 sizes of ear tips, so try going one size smaller. For on-ear headphones - well…. discomfort is kind of normal. I’d expect all on-ear headphones to be slightly uncomfortable for everybody. But they’ll be especially uncomfortable if they have a particularly strong clamping force or insufficient padding on the earcups, or if you just have larger ears (like me).For over-ear headphones - poor fit. If they’re uncomfortable, you should probably get larger headphones. Strong clamping force can also contribute, but I don’t see this as a major issue here.At the end of the day, headphones should be comfortable. If they’re physically painful to wear, you need better headphones. I, as I’ve mentioned earlier, have unusually large ears, which require particularly large earcups. With that said, I’ve had the Sennheiser HD 598 SE for a year, and the HD 598 Cs for a week, and both have exceptionally large earcups that fit my ears comfortably, plus a fairly light clamping force. I can use both for several hours on end with no noticeable fatigue. For contrast, my previous daily driver headphones, some on-ear wireless headphones from Urbanears, had a particularly strong clamping force and unexceptional ear cushions, which made them hurt after just 20–30 minutes of use.Regardless of your ears, you should be able to find headphones that fit comfortably. It might take a bit of research, but it’s totally worth it in the end.
