Is There Something Wrong With My Parakeet

Help!!! Is there something wrong with my parakeet?

This is a deformity caused in the nestbox as a baby. Food gets stuck in the cavity of the top beak and it breaksdown and causes heat. When this happens it stops the top beak growing properly and the bottom beak grows at its normal rate. Then you end up with a bottom beak that closes OVER the top beak and the top beak that sits inside the bottom beak. Birds like this will needs expert beak trimming nearly every fortnight from a vet to manage the problem as the bottom beak keeps growing longer due to the problem. It will cost you vets fees for the rest of its life due to this and if you got it from a pet store might be better to return it and choose another.

Oh and wait till he is compleatly clear before you give him fruits or veggies and go slow on them watch for the runs if something diagrees with him don't give it to him again

Is there something wrong with my parakeet?

Found a article thing on it...

"Tail bobbing often happens because the bird has trouble breathing because of either too much exercise or the most common cause would be a respiratory infection. I'd keep an eye on him and if he shows any other symptoms of illness i'd make a trip to the vet."

Good luck!

Is there something wrong with my parakeet(budgie)?

Budgies have to drink purified water, they will get a diarrhea if they drink too much sink water.

Since it was seperated with other budgies back at the store, it may be sick.
Check out it's poop, is it abnormal? If it is, than it is sick. You can bring it to the vet.
Budgies drink very little water--- a few sips a day.

Take care!

There's something wrong with my budgie but my mother doesn't want to take him to the vet?

My budgie has his head and almost all of his left side of the body tilted to the side, he has a very low balance and his wings randomly open. My parents don't want to take him to the vet because they say it's too expensive. I'm crying because this budgie is the world for me and means alot even if I only got him in June of 2012. I really need a solution. This parakeet means my life and he is a very special budgie, he's so calm and so good... I can't lose him!

I think there's something wrong with my elderly parakeet.?

Could take her to avian vet but she does sound to sick to even make the journey as the stress would probably kill her. Could try though. Or keep her comfy as possible. Put heating pad under the bottom of the cage(outside bottom). Cover half the cage with a blanket to keep heat in. Put the food and water down there with her in case she wants to eat or drink. Could try giving her a little sugar water do not force into beak though just put on tip or side and let her suck it in. Parakeets can live up to 15 years and some longer. Could also consider putting her to sleep at vets if you think she is suffering. So sorry.

I had a dream about having a pet parakeet, and now my brain keeps thinking I actually have a parakeet. What is going on?

Lol. There is no real, or definative answer for this question. So I will speculate. Parakeets in our dreams can be a sign of anything from “Hopefulness, and freedom” to “needing inspiration and motivation”… Gee…no confusion there! So I'd go with the one that's MOST like your current emotional state. The fact that you've manifested into your reality on the other hand is different. Our ability to decipher dreams from reality is a sign of mental stability! So… IF you were leaning more towards the negative connotation of parakeet dreams “lacking innovation, motivation, inspiration” , and it's manifested into your reality!!?…I'd probably seek professional help! It sounds like you could be about to suffer an emotional break down!! This is all hypothetically speaking of course, since there is no definitive science in dream interpretation. My response is pure conjuncture and speculation as I'm not certified, nor do I have all of the details of the dream that aren't able to be defined rationally anyway! The human brain is a complex amazing piece of machinery! If we could understand them all, and figure out how each individual brain functions?..we'd be able to cure everything from Alzheimer's to Schizophrenia !

My Parakeet is suddenly staying at the bottom of cage and walking in circles, whats wrong?

The below link contains everything you would want to know about parakeet care.

Mine used to stay at the bottom of the cage when they were eating grit. One of them slept on the bottom of the cage.

Hope your bird is feeling better.

What's wrong with my parrot, and what to do?

Thanks for the A2A.While birds are not my specialty there are a few things that come to mind.Stress can cause feather picking. I can’t tell from this video if she is plucking her feathers but that is a common behavioral sign which can indicate a medical concern.Birds are extremely sensitive to air quality. If you have a gas leak, burn something on the stove, use air fresheners… anything that changes the quality of the air they can get very distraught. One way to check is to get the bird out of that area into a well ventilated area, even outdoors if you live in a warm climate. If the behavior stops, then you need to find out what inside the home is changing the air quality.Beyond that I really can’t help. I haven’t worked with birds since my Vet school days. If behavior like this goes on for a day, you should bring her in to an exotics specializing Veterinarian.Hope that helps.
