Is There Somewhere In The Uk That Sells This Laptop Bag

Ants living in my laptop? How do I prevent it?

Nancy's suggestion is the best, you will have to put the laptop in a sealed container like a big plastic tote.

Yes, some ants are very attracted to electricity; the imported fire ants have a reputation for building nests inside electrical boxes, which causes problems for air conditioning compressors that are mounted on concrete pads outside.

Still, it is a little odd that they would nest inside a laptop. Your entire house must have an ant problem.

I heard a story on the radio many years ago about a fellow who kept having problems getting rid of pharoah ants - tiny black ants - and he finally cut into a wall they kept disappearing into - the entire cavity was full of ants, they had built a huge nest.

What I would do is take the laptop apart - open its case - and use a dust-blower can to blow the ants out of the laptop. It also can blow dust out if any has build up inside, the fan sucks the dust in. You could have a computer repair shop do this for you.

But store the laptop in a large plastic tote with a lid, and every day after you take the laptop out of the tote, wipe the inside and outside of the tote with a damp cloth. Ants leave trails with pheromones, and wiping the tote surfaces every day will get rid of trails that other ants might create.

ADDED

Do not spray bug spray anywhere on or in the laptop as the chemical residues - not just the poison - could cause permanent malfunctions.

Yes the ants could cause the circuits in the laptops to fail. Ants do have to poop, and poop is corrosive to the metals used on the circuits. The spacing between conductors is very small and if an ant dies across two conductors the bridge could cause the laptop to malfunction.

I read years ago of ants in Central America that would "eat" the conformal coating (it's an insulator) off the circuit boards and also some of the plastic packaging, and they ruined any computer they got into. Can't remember where I read it, though.

Ho Ho Ho I forgot about this - crazy ants !

Why does my laptop set off the library security alarm?

It is unlikely that it is the wireless networking card, but as you have failed to provide any specific information about your laptop itself, it is impossible to look up the hardware and investigate what might be the cause of this... or what might make your laptop different from all the rest.

So, this puts the issue back in your hands. Use some simple observation first. Does anyone have a laptop made by the same manufacturer as you? Does anyone have the same model? Where did you get yours? Was it a floor model? Used? Refurbished? Have any parts been replaced, ever? What differentiates your laptop from all the other laptops? Don't say "nothing", because that would imply everyone has the same make and model of laptop.

Now, there could be an RFID tag on the back of the LCD panel, especially if the panel is a replacement panel. There could be an RFID tag somewhere else in the casing. If all else fails, you go to the CS department at your university, and you recruit a hardware geek or two, bring them to the library, have them disassemble the laptop, and pass each component through the alarm (with the knowledge of the library personnel).

What do you do when your suitcase is overweight and you’re at the airport?

This happens with me all the time.Once, I was taking a Cathay Pacific flight from Beijing. I assumed the luggage weight limit to be 30 KG.However, It was only 23 KG.I had 2 bags. I kept both of them on the luggage belt assuming the limit was 30 KG. But, actually it was only 23 KG.The lady helping me check-in saw it. She said, ‘Sorry sir. You weight is over the limit. The weight limit is 23 KG’.I flipped, that very moment, since I didn’t want to pay extra for the luggage. I could have just taken that bag as a carry on baggage but the problem was that it was massively overweight for the carry-on baggage weight limit. What’s worse? The lady knew that the 2nd bag is 10 KGs more than the allowed weight limit for a carry on bag.I checked in the first bag.For the second bag, I asked a person who was standing nearby to lookout for my bag while I go to the toilet and come back. This person was standing at a place where the lady at the checkin counter couldn’t see.I went back to the check-in counter and said ‘I don’t have the 2nd bag anymore. I gave it to my friend, he will be taking it back home’. The lady gave me the boarding pass.I went back to the guy, said ‘Thank you so much’, took my bag and proceeded to the security check. He said ‘I was counting the time. Had you taken 1 more minute, I would have reported this bag to the police’.Now, there are 2 possible cases-1. The airline staff writes down the number of carry-on bags on your boarding pass.2. The airline staff DOESN’T write down the number of carry-on bags on your boarding pass.In such a case, generally they opt for [1].I got lucky since-1. The lady at the check-in counter didn’t write anything on my boarding pass.2. The airline staff didn’t check my bag’s weight before boarding. If you are a risk-taking individual, you can try this. I was a student then and low on budget. Otherwise, I would have just paid more money.

How do you shop at grocery stores with a bicycle and backpack if stores generally do not let people bring in bags of any sort?

Riding bicycle is my primary means of transportation and has been for over 4 years. I almost always have a backpack on. I shop with my backpack on at HEB and other businesses multiple times per day. I’ve never been asked to check it, nor has anyone ever approached me about it while shopping. When grocery shopping I am intending to fit everything I purchase into my backpack, so, it makes sense that I would have it on me. I’ve worked for retail shops in the past and know big chains have cameras everywhere and are watching for theft. They are watching. Knowing this, I practice some things as a show of good faith;I wear my backpack tightly on my back at all times while shopping. At no time do I remove it or access it while in the store.I keep my hands occupied with the basket or whatever I’m shopping for.I shop promptly and don’t dilly-dally around. Also, because I shop at the same stores time and again I suspect the security people get to know who I am as do many regular employees and I try to greet them and befriend them as much as possible. In smaller more locally owned stores I will offer to surrender my bag. However, some stores like Half-Price Books do not actually want to be responsible for my bag and cheerfully tell me it’s not a problem. To summarize, if you have no intention of thieving, people can sense this. Get on with your business. Don’t do anything weird. Be polite and friendly. Don’t be defensive or standoffish and don’t threaten to stop shopping there. Don’t drag women with purses into it. Just keep your backpack on your back. Do your shopping and go on with your life! All of this applies to inner city Houston, Texas. If you live in rural towns… good luck with bicycling and backpacking and anything else ‘weird’…

Will Canon warranty be available for camera bought in Dubai for use in India?

There is no duty for camera. I usually carry my dslr on my backpack with my cabin luggage. Make sure you keep the camera box packing inside the luggage that you put for luggage boarding. You can tell the customs officer if he asks about the camera that it's for your personal use. You are entitled to carry a laptop in separate laptop bag along with your cabin baggage. Make sure you cabin baggage is not more than 8 kgs.The customs officers are mostly on the lookout for led and LCD television sets. Kindly avoid buying television sets as it will attract unnecessary attention from customs officers.I bought my canon in Geant supermarket in Ibn Batuta Mall. I had made a comparison study between Carrefour, Lulu and Geant. Geant was 250 Dirhams cheaper and gave free 50mm lens and Lens cleaning kit free with bag and a camera bag free. You will get 1 year international warranty if you buy from these stores. You can buy from online stores like http://Souk.com and http://awok.com but they may not have warranty. You can check National Stores in Mirdif city centre. They are Canon authorised dealer. You can check it out yourself

How heavy is your kid's school bag?

I’ve been out of school for a few years now, but I distinctly remember weighing my backpack in my freshmen year of high school. It weighed about forty pounds.I am not fat. In fact, I am far from it. I’m not very strong, either. I never have been. For most of my life, in fact, I have been extremely underweight. And I am quite small. So let’s review: small, underweight, weak. Got it?I weighed no more than 85 pounds in my freshmen year. That meant my backpack weighed about half my weight. I was carrying half my own body weight on my back. And I still had to take a PE class at this enormous campus that had two main buildings and a few others for specialty classes like gym, swimming, theater… My high metabolism was no help. Half way through the semester, I was losing weight because I didn’t have enough time to eat (my parents filled my after school schedule up with too many activities). So what did I do?I dropped out. I’d had enough. This was legitimate physical torture. Sure, I went to try online schooling after that. (Couldn’t focus, and the curriculum was literal walls of text.) And then I tried an alternative school. (Filled with smokers, drug addicts, alcoholics, and everyone wore perfume so thick, I couldn’t breathe.) Then I went to try a school in another district- a K12 school that was all green. (A literal boat ride away, and by then, I wouldn’t be able to earn back my missing credits even with two extra years.)I just couldn’t graduate. I had to drop out. And it wasn’t my fault. I’m no delinquent- never have been. I dropped out because I physically could not handle public school. I’m now working on the only solution I have left: a GED.Remember: Not all dropouts are stupid, punk, drug-addicts who can’t keep their pants on. Some of us have medical problems.

LOUIS VUITTON SPEEDY Or NEVERFULL?

I have BOTH :D so I'll give you the pros and cons of them... For the Neverfull, it's a great size, if you're a student like me then it's great for notebooks, my laptop fits in there (13inch mac book), as well as all the other crap I walk around with on a daily basis. If I do have books and my laptop in my neverfull, the straps are really thin so it kind of cuts in to your shoulder and can get to be pretty painful. You shouldn't worry about them bursting or anything but if you plan on carrying a lot of heavy items, you might want to look at something with a thicker strap like the totally. Otherwise, I love how spacious it is, it is actually NEVER full haha
For the speedy... omg i love this bag to death, its definitely my favourite. I probably have nothing bad to say about it. I have a 30 and a 35.. the 30 I don't use as often because it is a bit on the small side, so I'll use it if im just going shopping or to the movies or something. My 35 is my main bag that I use basically every day. I can manage to fit my notebook and a soft covered text book in there, so only when I need to take my laptop (or stay somewhere overnight with lots of items) I'll pick my neverfull over the speedy. But the speedy is really spacious despite how it looks. It's also such a classic bag, it will never go out of style! The only thing I could think of that could be negative is that you can't hold it on your shoulder.. I prefer "elbow" bags anyway so that part doesn't bother me. Oh also if you get the speedy, when you put your things in, the bottom of the bag will sag.. this annoys the daylights out of me, and if you're the same, you can just hop on ebay and buy a base shaper.. its basically just plastic in the shape of the bag to keep it from sagging! Also anther tip, the speedy tends to be a bottomless pit. I got a purse organiser thing and it really makes life so much more simple! And then you can just switch over purses really easily too.. So anyway go into one of the louis V stores, and try them on and see which one you like best.
Have fun!! I remember how excited I was when I first got one too!! Let us know what you decide! :D

What websites do people in Austria use to buy/sell second-hand stuff?

There are many, most of them are already listed in these answers like willhaben.at, shpock, ebay, facebook groups, and Flohmarkt events. Each of these are free to use despite ebay which sometimes may cost depending on the features you want to make appear on your listing (post in more categories, add two titles, or set an auction)The only one that seems missing is waitasecond.com, a new online marketplace using the dutch auction ( it works on the other way than a normal auction, prices decrease instead of increase) is free to use and every transaction is completely protected by PayPal. I have bought and sold nice pieces there, also if they like your product they may sponsor it on instagram and facebook with paid ads. It happened once with one of my products and I sold it within 2 hours :)Hope this message helps, let me know in the comments if you need some more information. For your convenience I have translated it also in German :)Es gibt viele verschiedene Möglichkeiten, die meisten wie willkommen.at, shpock, ebay, Facebook-Gruppen und Flohmarkt-Veranstaltungen kennt man ja.
